Those people were not your friends. I repeat ... those people were not your friends!!!!

Where are the deprogrammers?!?!!? CathrynRose, Nancy and other Deprogrammers, we need you STAT!!!!!

I'm here, I'm here!!!

I thought this thread had gone ka-put!!! Thought some of you may have stopped at those tables set up in front of your local Wal-mart. :rolleyes1

I went to a very emotional conference with my 15 y/o's teacher - and we talked about his learning disablity (he just CAN NOT read!!! :guilty: ) And I was so frustrated and upset - and started to ...cry. And the teacher, apparently trying to make me feel better says "lets of people have learning disorders - Tom Cruise has dyslexia!"

I wanted to cry harder. :rotfl:

I'm here...I was out of town all weekend. See that the wedding is alledgedly closer. Rumor has it that John T. is flying the guests over in his jet....time to pipe in sublimal messages....I'm sure it's a long flight.

Oh ,but CR, Tom has cured his through Scientology. Sorry, bad joke.

Seriously, CR, I have 2 brothers that suffered from this. After high school, they went to trade schools, and both make more money than my hubby that has a couple graduate degrees. (Isn't America great?) However, even though I'm sure your son can live a productive life that does not include reading for pleasure, it would be nice for him to get help. Is he being tutored?
How bad is his problem? Can he read instuctions, etc? Does he read brokenly? Or does he not understand written language at all?

I know - he's not doomed to be a bum, but I just dont understand - thats all.

He reads almost the way someone just learning to read, reads. Still sounds out words - and seems like he can read each word - but becuase he is taking so much time to figure out each word, he cant put them all together.

So.
It.
Sounds.
Like.
This.

And if you ask him - what'd you just read...you'll get "I dont know"

:confused3

I just feel bad - or something. I dont know. I just dont understand.

I know I'm late for the party, and I wasn't invited, but can I come in?

So how excited is everyone that TomKat's wedding is allegedly this weekend? :bitelip:

Oh man. I don't have teenagers, so I haven't been where you are, but maybe you could contact a literacy center and ask for help? There are all kinds of free programs to promote adult literacy. I would think that any extra help would be good....sounds like he can't make that connection to absorb what his eyes see. Good luck, I feel for you.

So Sorry CathrynRose about your son, and then to add insult to injury (bringing up Tom Cruise)!!!!

At least maybe you can get a good laugh this weekend when the wedding finally happens!

Hi! I haven't been around on this thread (or many for that matter) in awhile. I can't wait for the big nuptuals. I've got my dress picked out, it's black - of course, but I am still undecided on shoes and how to wear my hair. I know Tom's not a drinker but I do hope they have alcohol at the wedding, is it a Catholic ceremony, if so I'm sure there will be. I hope I don't get too drunk and say something I shouldn't. Hmmm... come to think of it, maybe I should BYOB, who knows they might only be serving koolaid.:teeth:

CathrynRose,
I'm sorry to hear about your soon but WOW, that teachers comments were totally unnecessary and insensitive. Talk about adding insult to injury. ;)

My ds just picked up a MAD magazine at the grocery store. It's a play on the picture of Tom, Kat(i)e and Suri. It's pretty funny.

BTW did anyone notice that the wedding is planned for Nov. 18, which happens to be Mickey Mouse's birthday?

I think they were reading our comments on the dis, and got inspired to get hitched that day!!! :rotfl:

Def. byob. I'm doing so. Do not want to ingest the koolaid!!!!!

I'm also wearing black. Not b/c I'm in mourning that Tommyboy's getting married -- I'm in mourning for Kat(i)e, who is ruining her life. The ONLY shoes to wear to this fiasco -- oops, I mean wedding -- are 3.5 to 4" black, pointy toed heels b/c (a) you have to be taller than Tommyboy as it's mandatory and (b) you can kick him hard w/those pointy toes and pretend it's an accident while on the dance floor. At least that's my plan. As for hair -- I'm wearing mine slicked back in a low pony tail. See you at the fiasco -- I mean wedding!!!!!

I am not a regular poster on this thread, but I do read most of the new replies when they appear in my inbox. Anyway, a local news morning show was talking about the wedding, and they mentioned that there is speculation that Katie is "pregnant" again. I am asking the experts- what do you think? Sorry if this has already been discussed and I have missed it. (never mind- I see that it has already been mentioned)

Suri looks like she has a French manicure in that picture.

Ok, I admit that I've been a bit busy and haven't followed along as faithfully as I would have liked, prior to all this wedding hoopla. But I did go back about 6 pages and didn't see any mention of this?! ETA: Ok, a mention... but I didn't see the allegedly beautiful vows posted, so I'll share

If the wedding will be a Scientology ceremony — as has been reported — any feminists in attendance might be a tad miffed. The vows for Scientology’s wedding ceremony refer to the groom only as a “man” while the bride is sometimes called a “girl,” notes the Web site, Secrets of Scientology. And some of the notions of marriage seem a bit retro. Quoting from the book “The Background Ministry, Ceremonies & Sermons of the Scientology Religion,” the site reports that the minister asks the bride: “And do you take/His fortune/At its prime and ebb/And seek/With him best fortune/For us all?/Do you?” The minister then tells the groom: “Now, (groom's name),/girls need clothes/And food and/Tender happiness and frills/A pan, a comb,/perhaps a cat/All caprice if you will/But still/They need them./Do you then/Provide?/Do you?”

I heard on a local station that Tom literally gives Kat(i)e a Cat and a Comb at the wedding. Cat-a-Comb? huh? Anyway...

"I now pronounce you man and girl" :confused3

Who makes this stuff up?!

I saw an advertisement for one of those entertainment shows that said "Watch tonight and find out why Oprah's not invited to the wedding" Of course I missed the show! I'm sure they teased about it all through the long boring show and then put in some little snippet of non-info at the end like, "Oprah had a previous engagement, and that's why"

That kid is sooooo asian!
It's funny how those almond shaped eyes just pop up in the gene pool here and there. My friend is married to a guy who is 1/4 japanese. His mother who is 1/2 japanese looks hawiaan. American shaped eyes and dark skin. He looks like his mom, but slightly lighter in color. They have 3 kids, (1/8 Japanese) who all look completely white except for the 3rd one ended up with almomd shaped Japanese eyes. Suri's eyes definately came from Daddy Klien's side of the family.

I saw one of the entertainment shows last night and Oprah is packed up and is headed to the set of Grey's Anatomy to film the TV show. I guess she was asked by the show to be a special guest star. The filming of the show starts Friday November 17th.

But at the same time she said she did NOT get an invite anyway. The only ones they mentioned on the e-show were Will Smith's family and David Beckham the soccer star...but this castle holds 1400 people sooo who are THEY!!!
