Oh, Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber went to the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. In a truly stunning display of what it's like to live in Justin Bieber's head, he wrote in the guest book, "Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber." I am both pained and deeply amused.

Next will be the inevitable rallying of his fan base in his defense. This got me thinking: do any you have children--or know any--who are Beliebers? And if so, have his European antics made any difference? Between the shirtlessness and the concert tardiness and the nightclub bans and the monkey, I'm starting to wonder if he's about to face a backlash.

(For the record, I'm not judging. Well, actually, I am judging him, but not his young fans--I own far too many albums by Ace of Base to make any comment on adolescent music tastes.)

Justin Bieber comes across lately as very spoiled and self-centered. I'm sure that he thought that his comment was a compliment but it was just bizarre.

By the way, I like the Ace of Base. :)

My kids hate Justin Bieber. They do know about Anne Frank and his remarks just further cemented their hate.

:rotfl2: That is priceless

My dd has never been a fan.

OK, I'll admit it: I'm judging.

To make a comment like that just shows such an appalling lack of common sense, of a sense of history, or an understanding of what the Holocaust was...

He should be embarassed, as should his parents, his teachers, his fans and his next door neighbor.

I don't care what anyone thinks of his musical or artistic ability. (And, no, none of my kids are fans. But his music isn't offensive; I wouldn't care if they chose to listen to it. )

But for anyone over the age of 8 to sprout such idiocy is abominable.

I hope someone has the good sense to spill some White Out over the comments. Not to protect his reputation, but to spare all the Holocaust survivors, and the families of all those who died, of the knowledge that any adult on this planet could take their suffering so lightly.

Yep, this pretty much sums up my feelings on this as well.
Bieber fever never hit my house ... while all my 8 year old daughter's friends love Justin Bieber, my DD digs Anthony Kiedis. That's my girl!

Like so many child stars, it seems like his handlers are losing control of him once he passed the age of 18.

I'm thinking that 150 years from now The Diary of Anne Frank will probably still be read by school children around the world, and the name Justin Bieber will mean almost nothing.

No I really don't know anybody who listens to his music. He's about the same age of as one of my kids but just not their thing.

My daughters plug their ears if they are anywhere and hear one of his songs. Having heard one myself, I can see why.

I read an article about his comments and was amazed. Such a self centered brat!

I hope his popularity fades fast! We will probably see him on a show like Celebrity Rehab Ina few years.

While I think a lot of these child stars have to "grow up fast", they all seem to be very immature and lack a lot of social skills and common sense. He's never gone to high school and had high school experiences. He's never gone to prom or homecoming or had the jitters asking out a cheerleader wondering if she likes him. He's never gone to drivers ed with his buddies. He's never gone to a college campus to decide if that's the right school for him. He's missing out on ALL of the experiences that kids should have and that make them who they are. And I think that is sad. I see this kid heading for a downward spiral fast. My 10 year old daughter has loved him for years. At first I thought he was a good clean cut kid but now I'm starting to wonder. It won't be long before the headlines read "Bieber Heads To Rehab.....Again!"

Thank God we don't have to hear EVERYTHING dumb kids his age say... :surfweb: Our heads would explode.

True.

But the problem is that he's 19. (I just checked.) He's an adult, not a middle schooler.

At some point, doesn't ignorance become embarassing??

Youth is temporary, but stupid is permanent.

Has he actually even had regular schooling since becoming this global celebrity?

His 15 minutes of fame should have ended years ago, I blame the internet.

Sorry, that age a male is STILL a kid... believe me I LIVE with one.

He's spent most of the time he should've been learning about life being the source of income for hundreds of people. He lost out on a lot of important years being a kid. It's pathetic.
