Oh, Just A Few GALLONS of Pixie Dust! - A July/August 2012 TR

I enjoyed the picture trip through Hollywood to start my Monday morning.
It's fun that interest in The Muppets has come back since the movie came out.

Next Monday morning, I'll be in Animal Kingdom.

But it will be for real! :tigger:

I just wanted you to know how much I have been enjoying your TR! Keep the updates comin'!!

ps.....I am so thrilled that Once Upon a Time is back on Sunday nights!!:yay::yay:

Oh my gosh, I seriously thought that I was the only person on the planet who doesn't the Voyage of the Little Mermaid.

I mean....first off, the only time I went to see it was when it had just rained on a freezing January trip (literally freezing....it snowed!). And then you go in to what you think is a nice warm theater, and we literally got soaked. I didn't sign up to actually go under the sea!

Then after the first song or two, which were decent.....they sum up the whole last two thirds of the movie in a quick couple minutes of video montage. We were just sitting there going, "uh....what just happened? What happened to the PLOT?"

It's become this huge joke between me and my sister and uncle (the other two who were with me)....but then I see on DIS how everyone seems to love it. And I just don't get it. :confused3

Also....Waldo bothered me immensely, and Once Upon a Time is one of my new favorite shows.

Basically, if we hung out in real life, I think you and I would be best friends. :thumbsup2

Another great update. I love Muppet Vision and can't wait to see it again. Really glad you pointed out where writers stop is we didn't find it last time. I can't wait for the new series of Once Upon a Time to start we haven't got a date for it over here yet, hope its as god as the last one xx

I obsess over The Little Mermaid too! However I saw VotLM yesterday and the girl playing Ariel was terrible! All of her timing on the song was way off. Nobody can top Jodi Benson!

Little bit late but I'm joining! :). I'm the same when I'm in disney. Love being able to re-live my childhood, being able to forget about all the stresses of work ect.
I get major Disney blues when I get home and they pop up at random (typically when I'm having a hard day at work). I love reading trip reports to feel the Disney magic even when I'm not there. Can't wait to read more :) :yay:

Wow, I missed a lot while I was on vacation, but I'm all caught up!! Your pictures are so fantastic!! Love them all!

Fortunately/unfortunately, when we met Buzz and Woody, we were very near the front of the line, as we waited prior to the 9:15 opening, after riding TSM. The CM was not the most understanding/patient/kind CM and hurried everyone the the que line, not allowing any pictures at the photo stops. We snuck one or two, but very disappointing.

Looking forward to more of your pixie dust!!

MUPPETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

"DID SOMEBODY SAY 'CHEAP 3D TRICKS??'"

Or, "And now, the 3 D's! I'm Dorothy! I'm Dinah! ...and I'm Max. Yeah, Debbie was sick, so the union sent me."

I'll stop for now, but I really could do this all day. :rotfl:

Yeah, I do think Waldo gets too much of the spotlight in the film, but he is cute. Personally, I'd always take more Rizzo or Pepe though! ("What's with the giant egg?" "Shh, it could be filled with chocolate, okay?")

Awww, Muppet Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabies! I used to watch that ALL the time! And yes, baby Rowlf is definitely the adorablest!

I was there December 12-14th (painfully short, I know!) as a chaperone for a group of foreign exchange students. I've chaperoned this trip every year since 2009 and I love it! I'm hoping to go again this year, but it all depends on my job situation.

AHHHH! I love Muppets Take Manhattan! I found it on DVD for $5 at a grocery store a few years ago and it was basically the best day ever!

Muppet Vision is definitely a must do for me! I get what you mean about Waldo, though. But then I read that Muppet Vision was the last project that Jim Henson worked on before he passed away, and all was forgiven.

I think we share the same brain. I'm also not a VotLM fan! My big complaint is that the film quality is so poor. I mean, they've digitally remastered almost every Disney movie now, you'd think they could update the film in their own attractions.

(and WOAH! I've never been first to post after a TR update! I feel so cool. :cool2:)

Oh okay! I arrived on the 14th last year. Haha. I totally understand short trips, don't even worry about it! I hope you'll be able to go too!

That's so awesome! That one and the original Muppet Movie are my favorites. :goodvibes

YES, exactly. That's another reason why I grew to love it so much. It's so sad to think about that though!

It really is. I agree with that completely. Plus, it's such a choppy story, and correct me if I'm wrong, but King Triton never even shows up as far as I remember! I was just very disappointed with that show.

Hahah congratulations!

It was an amazing trip! My boyfriend and I actually got engaged at Cinderella's Royal Table so I guess it was just destined to be an amazing trip, definitely one of the best ones ever:goodvibes

Oh my gosh!!!! Congrats girl! That's just awesome!

And the fun filled DHS day continues! You truly sound like a blast to be with!! I've only seen VotLM once and we were WAY off to the side so didn't really see much! I was going to do it again and try and be more in the middle but we shall see!

It does indeed! I honestly think that this was the best time I'd ever had at that park!

Aww thanks! Aren't you sweet. Hahah I don't even know if you should bother with it! You don't get nearly the entire story. It's such a bummer.

I'm all caught up on your TR now. Wooooohooo! I'm glad you update often. It is helping hold me over til my trip. I CAN. NOT. WAIT. Ahhhhhh!!!

I totally agree with you on the space used for Lights, Motors, Action... even though I am such a huge fan of Hollywood Studios in general and as a whole, I wish they would work as hard on some other things as they do with like Toy Story Mania and Tower of Terror... the potential is ENDLESS!!

I can't believe you saw a real live DEER. Jess and Kristen would fall over.

The cupcakes at Contempo look AMAZING. I have had them all on my list of things I must try for a long time. I don't know how I'm going to eat all these cupcakes I need to eat in 8 days, but I am going to make a valiant effort!

hahahaha ME TOO. I feel like I'm always trying to think of a new way to write about how excited I was, maybe a way to rephrase things, but it always just goes back to me being like yeah, I WAS SO EXCITED.

Yay! Hahah I'm glad! It's insanely soon! I'm so jealous!!!

Exactly! That's my problem with it, really. There IS so much potential that it's not living up to and it makes me sad because it could be so much more amazing than it already is! That park could easily be my favorite if a few things were different!

I was way too excited about seeing Bambi. I mean, there are deer in my backyard A LOT, but seeing one at Disney was so much more exciting.

You can do it! I'm rooting for you. CUPCAKES! I promise, the Contempo cupcakes are just Heavenly!

I know! There is basically no better way to convey excitement than saying you were excited! I'm always looking for other ways to say it too, but then I'm like... whatever. Everyone understands. :lmao:

Great update Marissa! I used to love Muppet Babies too.

I have never done Muppetvision though, I'm not sure why! That's gonna be a must do for our trip in 12 days!!

Thank you! Yes, that show was the best thing ever. I used to watch it all the time because we weren't allowed to watch very many cartoons!

Oh goodness, you must! It's great, once you get past stupid Waldo. (I really don't like him.) Wait, 12 days? Are you serious? AHHH that's so exciting! I honestly think everyone I know is going to Disney in the next month or so. I'm very jealous!!!

A few answers- 1. Yes, I did see the Muppet Babies... Why was the lady's name "Nanny"? Did they not have a mother? Also, shouldn't they all have different mother's anyway? In which case, shouldn't she be a babysitter or teacher? Because I imagine Nannies come to one's home-- in this case they would all be at her house... right? So confusing.

2. I do not know why there is a dinosaur in the lagoon... it seems odd to me as well.... now- considering I've never really thought about it before.

Question- Did you check for the key under the mat at Muppet Vision? I knew about it the last time we went, but did not look because the line was moving too quickly.

YAY. Muppet Babies was way too awesome. Hahha I always wondered that too! You're too funny. I really have no idea. :rotfl:

I think it's weird, but awesome. I love Gertie. I just don't understand her presence. Haha!

No I didn't ! I didn't even think about it because I was jamming to the area loop music. (Seriously.) I'm sure I wouldn't have had a chance to do it if I had thought about it because we went straight through to the pre-show area and there were a lot of people coming in. BUT, I'm glad you reminded me because I definitely want to look for it next time!

I am so ready to meet the Muppets. :bitelip:

Muppets Take Manhattan used to be my absolute FAVORITE! Especially when they were babies. I mean, come on! That song was the best part EVER!!!! Baby Gonzo......awesome.

I miss Muppet Babies too. Used to be part of my daily viewing routine. Along with Gummy Bears......oh, and Wuzzles......

I was just thinking about the fact that OUAT premieres tonight! I'm soooo excited! Everyone knows! GGAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I know I will adore the Little Mermaid ride too. I basically love EVERY dark ride!

Oh, good! Always be prepared.

I think it's definitely my favorite Muppet movie! Hahah it's seriously the cutest thing ever.

It was the best cartoon! It was one of the few we were allowed to watch there for a while. Okay, I've heard of Gummy Bears, but I didn't ever watch that one! (No idea why.) I've never heard of Wuzzles though.

Oh my gosh, did you watch it? It was phenomenal.

Dark rides are amazing already, but base one entirely off my lifelong favorite movie, and it's gonna be a hit with me. I probably will want to ride it at least 3 times in a row. Not that doing so will be possible, but it's worth a shot, right?

I can't ever get my family into the Muppet zone. They just aren't that into the Muppets, so I have only seen that attraction once and I had to listen to DD whine about it the whole time. It was our last day and we were all pretty tired.

Once Upon A time !!! I love it, too !! I can't wait to see tonight's season premiere - YAY !!!

Nooooo! You must try! I don't see how it's possible to not be into the Muppets! Yall should give it another try!

The premiere was FANTASTIC! Ahhhhh.

My favorite sign in the whole place says, "Stay away from unsafe ladders"

Sage advice.

Writers Stop has the best carrot cake cookie sandwiches in this world. In this World!

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

Hahah I love Muppet humor. Sage advice indeed!

I'm not really a fan of carrot cake (:duck:) but I bet they have a bunch of great goodies!

Yay for an update! :cool1:

I love the Muppets area of DHS, but I've never been able to love the show as much as Philharmagic. The Muppets fountain is one of Disney's best though!

Such cute photos in front of Sci Fi! :thumbsup2

Yeah, I don't either. Muppet Vision is fantastic, but Philharmagic is just Classic Disney at its finest!

That fountain is great, for sure! I love it.

Thank you!!

Loved your update. I think the Muppets are so fun and I love everything about that attraction - the queue and the actual 3D movie.

Love the youtube link you posted to the Moooooopets! :lmao: Love that song!

Thanks! I agree, that entire area is one of the best areas in all of DHS!

The uploader said it was a way to "throw the copyright police off the scent." Hahaha! I love it too, it's so cute.

Awww, I love the Muppets! And Muppet Babies! I used to watch that all the time! :thumbsup2

Haha, I love the randomness of this update, it's all over the place, but in a good way! :rotfl2:

I'm not a big fan of the Voyage of the Little Mermaid either, I mean, I liked it, but I've never felt the need to see it more than once. It just seems like they could have done a lot more with it, you know? I cannot WAIT for the Little Mermaid ride in MK! :dance3:

Muppet Babies was such a great show! I miss it! It needs to come on Disney channel or something.

Seriously though, that was the most random update ever! That's what happens when you just randomly aim your camera at things. :lmao:

Yeah, I really am not a fan. I don't even like saying that because I'm sure most people know by now how much I LOVE Little Mermaid. But I think the ride will be absolutely incredible!

Great update Marissa! You got some really good pictures, I love the ones with our family :goodvibes I hope you guys got into a drawing class! That is something we've really got to do one of these days.

Thanks! Aww I'm glad you like them! We actually did! That'll be part of my next update!

I enjoyed the picture trip through Hollywood to start my Monday morning.
It's fun that interest in The Muppets has come back since the movie came out.

Next Monday morning, I'll be in Animal Kingdom.

But it will be for real! :tigger:

Aw yay! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I agree! It's nice to see them 'in the spotlight' again.

Ahhh, that's so exciting! :yay:

I just wanted you to know how much I have been enjoying your TR! Keep the updates comin'!!

ps.....I am so thrilled that Once Upon a Time is back on Sunday nights!!:yay::yay:

Aww thank you so much! I'm so glad you're enjoying it. I really appreciate you reading and commenting! So thank you very much!

Me too! Did you watch last night? BRILLIANT!

Oh my gosh, I seriously thought that I was the only person on the planet who doesn't the Voyage of the Little Mermaid.

Basically, if we hung out in real life, I think you and I would be best friends. :thumbsup2

Hahah I can assure you, you are not!

Oh my gosh... that sounds awful.

I know! It's seriously such a letdown. I really don't understand the hype over it. I don't know.

WALDO IS LAME! But I can get past that. Hahah. Did you watch last night???? SO GOOD.

Hahha yay, besties! :woohoo:

Ahh it's really a shame how behind I am!! I'm getting caught up right now...

Aw, that's okay! I hope you get caught up soon!! :goodvibes

Another great update. I love Muppet Vision and can't wait to see it again. Really glad you pointed out where writers stop is we didn't find it last time. I can't wait for the new series of Once Upon a Time to start we haven't got a date for it over here yet, hope its as god as the last one xx

Thank you!! It's great, isn't it??

Oh, yay! Glad I could help! It's really right there next to Sci Fi. :thumbsup2

Oh no!!! Yall don't know when it's coming back yet? Well let me just tell you, the first episode is just fantastic! You're in for some awesome stuff!

I obsess over The Little Mermaid too! However I saw VotLM yesterday and the girl playing Ariel was terrible! All of her timing on the song was way off. Nobody can top Jodi Benson!

It's amazing, right? (Love your name, and your picture!!!) Oh did you really? Are you at Disney right now??? SO lucky!

That sounds awful. Seriously, that's what I'm saying. No one should ever even try! By the way, it seems like you're only a couple weeks (or less) younger than me! I turn 24 in 20 days. :)

Thank you for reading and commenting on the TR! It's so nice to have you here and I'd love to hear from you again!

Little bit late but I'm joining! :). I'm the same when I'm in disney. Love being able to re-live my childhood, being able to forget about all the stresses of work ect.

Aww yay!! Welcome! :wave2: Better late than never, I always say.

Aww, we're definitely the same in that respect! That's the beauty of Disney. (Who am I kidding? Everything's beautiful about Disney. HAHA.)

I'm so glad you're enjoying the trip report and that it can help you trump your Disney blues, at least a little bit. I know exactly how you feel. I'm really glad you're here and I'd love to hear from you again!!!

Wow, I missed a lot while I was on vacation, but I'm all caught up!! Your pictures are so fantastic!! Love them all!

Looking forward to more of your pixie dust!!

Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful trip! Aww thank you so much!

Wow, really? That makes me sad to hear... it kinda sounds like that particular CM was on a power trip. I think that guests should be allowed to take pictures if they want, you know? It wouldn't be holding up the line, especially if not everyone wanted to take pictures. But even if they did, it shouldn't matter. I don't know. That just makes me sad. If I were that CM, I wouldn't have hurried you along. I hope you get to take advantage of those photo ops someday!

There will be more pixie dust mentioned (somewhat) shortly!!

MUPPETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

"DID SOMEBODY SAY 'CHEAP 3D TRICKS??'"

Or, "And now, the 3 D's! I'm Dorothy! I'm Dinah! ...and I'm Max. Yeah, Debbie was sick, so the union sent me."

Awww, Muppet Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabies! I used to watch that ALL the time! And yes, baby Rowlf is definitely the adorablest!

I mean, are you excited?? :lmao:

HAHAH that is my favorite part of the pre show!!! It cracks me up!

Ack, Waldo. I just don't enjoy him! Hahha I'm sorry. YES! Always more Rizzo!

YES it's the BEST! Hahah love it. I just love Baby Rowlf jamming on that piano!!

I worked at a grocery store too, and I would sing along to those songs too! :lmao: It's just so hard not to! I mean, why not have a good time??

I love your car pictures!! Too cute!

I really need to watch Once Upon a Time! It looks so good!! I'm going to start watching it on Netflix, definitely! :goodvibes

Hahha! You totally understand. I sang, danced, you know, the usual for any typical grocery store cashier. :rotfl:

Thank you!!

Omg, yes. You totally should! It's SUCH a wonderful show!!!

I'm with you on the singing (and dancing!) along. I can't do anything/go anywhere without singing along. Even if it's a song I don't really like, I will groan and then start singing along two seconds later. It's kind of ridiculous.

Anyway, MUPPETVISION! SCI-FI! ONCE UPON A TIME! PRINCE CHARMING! OR P-CHARMS AS I AFFECTIONATELY REFER TO HIM! So many wonderful things.

A big fat AGREED to not liking Voyage of the Little Mermaid all that much. I was never a huge fan, but I was dragged in by my family a few years ago to a showing with an Ariel who had a TERRIBLE voice and that just ruined it for me. I am not here for an Ariel who can't sing.

I used to do the same thing, only I worked in a restaurant :) We all used to sing along, and even got the guys in the kitchen in to it sometimes!

The One Where Anything Goes in Hollywood!

Day 2: Monday, July 30, 2012

On the morning of our first full day at Disney, I woke up feeling completely rested! That is a rarity, my friends. If you think about it, it’s pretty stinking weird too. I went to bed at 2:30 and it was now 7:00. Disney sleep is the best sleep, yall!

I basically just shot out of bed and got ready immediately. I had s’mores pop tarts for breakfast and was completely ready to walk out the door in record time.

My family, on the other hand, decided they wanted to lounge around for a while, take their time getting ready, and generally drive me crazy.

THIS WOULD NOT DO!!!

I basically started barking orders like a drill sergeant. Okay, that’s a bit of exaggeration. But really, I MEANT BUSINESS. It was a very serious matter.

You see, we were going to Hollywood Studios. There is a ride there that was the reason for my craziness, my sergeanty ways, if you will.

TOY STORY MANIA.

Listen, I’m a MAJOR fan of this attraction. It’s been my second favorite in all of Disney since my first trip, back before I even knew about the hype. I don’t care about the hype. I love it because it is SO MUCH FUN. I didn’t get to ride it on my last trip (for reasons I really don’t want to explain ever again) so I was basically exploding with anticipation!

LET’S GO, PEOPLE!!!! TOY STORY MANIA WAITS FOR NO MAN!!!

What am I gonna do though, put their clothes on for them?? I don’t roll that way, so I decided to just let them be and went out to my balcony to wait for them to be ready.

Good morning, you beauty!!!

SDC12964.jpg

Can’t complain about that!

When they were finally ready, we went down to the first floor and walked to the bus stop. Thankfully, a DHS bus pulled right up! Unthankfully, we also stopped at the Polynesian. WHY?!?!?! I didn’t understand that at all… I’ve stayed at every All Star resort and never once did they share busses with each other! And this was MORNING! It was just odd to me… you’d think Deluxe resorts would get their own personal busses for park opening! We were wasting precious time!

Finally we arrived at DHS! As soon as we walked in the park, a CM approached me, scanned my KTTW and asked me where I was from. After I told him I lived in Virginia, he asked, “Are you a Hokie or a Cavalier?”

I told him, “OH, Hokie all the way!”

He said, “I could tell you had good taste!”

:lmao:

Listen, if any of you are UVA fans, I apologize, but I was basically born a Virginia Tech Hokie. My parents went there and we’ve always been big fans in my family. It’s practically in my blood. (I didn’t go there myself, because I like the small school atmosphere… but that is beside the point.) Then the CM told me he liked my fingernails because they had cute Mickey heads.

Well, okay! I honestly have no idea what his purpose was or why he scanned my card, but he was really nice so hey, it’s cool!

Meanwhile, another CM approached Anna and gave her five “surprise” fast passes for Lights! Motors! Action! I know those are basically just used as seat fillers, but we decided we actually wanted to go see it! We hadn’t seen it before and we were looking for new experiences to try out on this trip. So why not? :goodvibes

We took a photopass picture in front of the hat, which I never even saw. (I have no idea why, but apparently all of our pictures were bad. Okay.)

SDC12896.jpg

SDC12898.jpg

Yes, everyone. You got THREE pictures of the hat. YOU'RE WELCOME!!!

Okay yall, enough funny business. Get your booties moving to Pixar Place, STAT!

SDC12899.jpg

Cool, thanks.

I was sent to get the fastpasses, and they had a return time of 11:35. PHEW! That was the perfect time. We had to leave the park to go to lunch, so I was worried the return time would be too late! But it wasn't. YAY.

While I was getting the fastpasses, my family was discussing what we should do next. I figured they’d suggest Anna and I going down Sunset and getting our thrill on, but instead, they decided that we should go to the Great Movie Ride.

OH… um… okay? Yeah… we want to beat those… crowds…

Well, whatever! If we didn’t head down Sunset that morning, we’d do it eventually! My main concern was getting those TSM fastpasses, so I was basically happy with anything!

SDC12900.jpg

Honestly, I think the Great Movie Ride CMs were just as surprised as I was. HAHA! Poor Great Movie Ride. I feel like it’s the Radiator Springs of DHS. It was super popular in its heyday, but now everyone is bypassing it in favor of cooler, newer attractions. (If we were at California Adventure that would really be true. Except the cooler, newer attractions would be those that take place in Radiator Springs… how ironic.)

Well, THAT was a tangent!

Anyways, I do enjoy the Great Movie Ride, but I think my very favorite part is THIS:

SDC12902.jpg

JULIE ANDREWS’ HORSE FROM MARY POPPINS! Oh my lanta. In case you were curious, Julie Andrews is my HERO. I adore her to the fullest extent. She is basically a perfect human specimen. (And so is Dick Van Dyke. That is why they were in that movie together. Yall, I’m in love with Dick Van Dyke. Oops, this is another tangent. Where am I and how did I get here? OH RIGHT. I’ve got it, it’s fine.)

We had a precious tour guide into the movies, who seemed to really like her job. That works for me! We ended up getting the cowboy side. AGAIN! Here is (horrible) photographic evidence:

SDC12903.jpg

Yeah, I’m now two for three on the cowboy scene. I’m ready for the gangster scene again (even though I like cowboys better but whatever).

I pretty much don’t even attempt to take other pictures on that ride. They never turn out well!

On the way to our next destination, we had to stop and admire the busts of famous people. That’s a lot less weird than it sounds, I can assure you.

First we saw Andy Griffith. RIP!!! :(

SDC12904.jpg

(Bill Cosby and his sweater are chilling in the background there.)

Then I had to get a picture with my man!!!

IMG_3283.jpg

We’re both busts! It’s special.

Last but not least, I had to get a picture with Desi Arnaz, for obvious reasons.

IMG_3284.jpg

I can’t figure out the reason behind his head tilt. He was a man of mystery.

Our next stop was a galaxy far away. Far, FAR away, if you really wanted to know. STAR TOURS!!! I love love love that ride! Admittedly, I’ll probably never watch the movies again, but the ride is so much fun!

SDC12905.jpg

It was just my parents and I that ended up riding. We pretty much knew Jacob would hate it, and Anna thought she might be claustrophobic. I don’t think she would have been, but better safe than sorry, you know?

So they waited…

IMG_3285.jpg

…(happily, it seems) and we rode!

We walked through the entire queue and only had to wait outside the ride doors! We got seated in the front row, which gave me a perfect opportunity to chat up the CM running the ride! I was trying to get on her good side… and yes, I had motives. I wanted to be the Rebel Spy!!!

If you read my first TR, you may remember a certain incident from Star Tours… it involved seatbelts and we’ll leave it at that. I ended up being the Rebel Spy because of said incident, and it was AWESOME. Basically, I wanted to be the Rebel Spy again! There were no seatbelt problems this time, so I was pretty much relying on my wit and charm to get the job done.

It probably would have worked too! (Maybe.)

Except for this one lady that LOST HER SUNGLASSES! The CM stood in the front and held them up and said, “Do these belong to anyone?” The lady raised her hand and said she must have dropped them when she put on her 3D glasses or something. (I didn’t buy it. Kidding.)

Anyways, she ended up being the Rebel Spy. Of course. SIGH! Oh well, we still had a fun ride! I know that we went to the Wookie country and had an encounter with Darth Vader himself. And at one point Chewbacca crashed into our vehicle. Poor guy. The ride as a whole was so different than the one I had in December! I loved it.

After the ride, we headed off in search of some more Hollywood adventures.

Where would we go?!?!

Continued in Next Update

I've never seen the cowboy scene in great movie ride, only ever seem to get gangster haha. Would like to see the cowboy scene someday. loving your trip report, its brightened up what has been a very hard day at work :) .

Gertie was one of the very first animated characters. Before Mickey!
Her original cartoon is on YouTube. It is pretty cute!

I was a huge Muppet Babies fan back in the day. :)

I sing with the Muppet music loop too but my favorite sing-a-long song is 'Couldn't we Ride' (from The Great Muppet Caper). :)

Hahah I cannot do it with the songs I don't like. I must immediately start listening to something else.

SO MANY wonderful things indeed! That was one hodge podge of an update.

Ugh, that's the thing. Nobody's Jodi Benson ever. I feel like there isn't anyone else who has a voice fit to sing that song, and it automatically sounds awful. It's such a shame. I wonder what they could replace it with...

I'm not in Disney now exactly. I'm a local and my DH is a CM. So I'm able to go a lot for a few hours at a time. :hyper:

Ohhh, gotcha! LUCKY!!!! That's awesome.

I used to do the same thing, only I worked in a restaurant :) We all used to sing along, and even got the guys in the kitchen in to it sometimes!

It makes it so much more fun, doesn't it? :thumbsup2

By the way, thank you for reading and commenting on my TR! I really appreciate it. And...

Welcome to the DIS!!! :cheer2:

I've never seen the cowboy scene in great movie ride, only ever seem to get gangster haha. Would like to see the cowboy scene someday. loving your trip report, its brightened up what has been a very hard day at work :) .

I hope you see it someday! I've actually seen it twice now. I really like it. :thumbsup2

Thank you so much! I'm so glad! Sorry you had a hard day though! I hope you have a great rest of your week. pixiedust:

Gertie was one of the very first animated characters. Before Mickey!
Her original cartoon is on YouTube. It is pretty cute!

I was a huge Muppet Babies fan back in the day. :)

I sing with the Muppet music loop too but my favorite sing-a-long song is 'Couldn't we Ride' (from The Great Muppet Caper). :)

Oh my gosh, you know what? I totally knew that! And then I totally forgot. HAHAHA. Thank you so much for reminding me!

Wasn't it the BEST? It needs to come on TV again.

Ahhh I love that one too! The Muppets have such wonderful songs. It's so hard not to sing along.

The One With Multiple Mickey Mice!

July 31, 2012

Believe it or not, this was all of our first times inside (or even near) the Animation building! I honestly have no idea how or why, but I’d never made it over there before this trip! The closest I’d even come was Voyage of the Little Mermaid building. How odd! I seriously don’t even know. ANYWAYS, that made it a cool new experience for us! We were thrilled! (Look, I found another word for excited! Get down.)

We ended up right beside the ‘drawing room’ when we entered the building. There was a small line already formed for the next drawing class, and the CM told us we’d be some of the last people who would fit in the class!

Jacob had been really excited about a chance to draw a Disney cartoon. He didn’t know about the actual drawing class, he only knew what he saw on the Full House Disney episode. (Remember when Joey goes… somewhere and draws an animated version of himself? I honestly have no idea where he was when he did that. Anyone know? Anyways, Jacob knew he wanted to do that, and the amazing thing was, he actually could!) We took the opportunity and hopped in the line!

While we were waiting, I happened to notice some certain Disney characters in the area… so I stepped over there to take a look and took Jacob with me. He is basically obsessed with Fantasmic, so I knew he’d be excited to see this character.

SDC13060.jpg

(Look in the background of the picture! He actually noticed Pooh before he saw Mickey, so that’s what he was pointing at.)

He was SO excited to see “FANTASMIC MICKEY!!!!!” so we decided that we’d go meet him after our drawing class! I mean, I was planning on that anyway but it was good that everyone else wanted to do it too. Hahah.

Before I got back in line, I had to take a picture of this wall! It has all the recent/future movie releases and it made me really happy.

SDC13061.jpg

Brave (love), Tangled Ever After (adore), Wreck-it Ralph (can’t wait for), and Monsters University! Could that wall BE any more awesome? I think not.

Then I went and got back in line like a good little girl.

Near the waiting area for the drawing class, the walls are covered in ‘sketches’ of different characters, which I thought was awesome.

SDC13062.jpg

Flora, Fauna, Merryweather, AND Pegasus! I love them all.

After a few more minutes we were let inside! It was time to get our ARTIST on.

Since we were in the back of the line, we got seats in the back. The room wasn’t very big (it had about four rows in all) so it wasn’t a big deal.

SDC13063.jpg

I AM READY.

SDC13064.jpg

Our drawing instructor didn’t give us a choice, he just told us what we’d be drawing. Can you guess???

We drew Sorcerer Mickey.

Okay, so listen. This isn’t me trying to come up with excuses as to why my drawing was terrible, I promise. BUT, I’m left handed. If you’re left handed, you’ll probably know exactly what I mean when I say that it’s basically impossible to write ANYTHING without it smudging (and getting all over your palm) and these pencils didn’t have erasers. So it was actually hard for me to tell where I’d drawn a line (because they had to be super light), and I kept redoing them, and it was just a big mess. I mean, our instructor did an excellent job describing how to do it, but I honestly am not very good at making regular shapes? I know that sounds ridiculous but I’m serious. Okay, so maybe those were excuses... but I used to be good at drawing when I was younger. Maybe I'm just bitter. Hahah. Just know that I will be going back and possibly taking an eraser with me.

Anyways, here is my 'Mickey'.

SDC13066.jpg

The mouth and eyes are the worst. HAHAHA.

I didn’t get pictures, but my mom did a great job, and Jacob did an excellent job following the instructions! It was great!

When we were done drawing, the instructor asked a trivia question, and whoever got it right would get his drawing!

The question was: Before Mickey Mouse, who did Walt want to be the Sorcerer’s Apprentice in Fantasia?

I didn’t know the answer, and there were a bunch (a BUNCH) of guesses before someone got it right. I want to see if any of you know the answer! I’ll let you know the answer later!

After we left the drawing class, we went straight down to get in line to meet the non-drawing of Sorcerer Mickey!

We saw this while waiting in line.

SDC13069.jpg

(That is what Mickey is SUPPOSED to look like.)

IMG_3349.jpg

We thought about getting in line to meet Pooh as well, but we didn’t realize that his line wrapped around to another section of the building. It ended up being a lot longer than it looked, so we nixed that idea.

Isn’t he precious though?

IMG_3350.jpg

However, there was another character meeting we could have instead!

Jacob and I got in line to meet Mr. Incredible and Frozone! My mom didn't care, because she's never even seen the Incredibles (which is insane). She decided to go see the Mushu movie while we met the superheroes.

SDC13073.jpg

I told Frozone that I thought he’d be much "cooler."

GET IT?!?!?!

Speaking of cool, I bet you’re now wondering how you could ever be as cool as me… but unfortunately it’s just not possible.

After that incredible meet, we headed to our next destination…

SDC13076.jpg

Starring Rolls!

SDC13083.jpg

I told Jacob all about the cupcakes before we went, and he had decided he wanted to try the Marble kind!

HOWEVER.

When we got there, there was no Marble cupcake to be found! No, the dang thing had been replaced with a CARROT cake cupcake. I mean, seriously? Seriously though. Of ALL the kinds of cake in the world, they had to go and replace it with carrot cake? I’m sorry, but that is just supremely lame in my opinion. Jacob was definitely a little disappointed, because none of the other cupcakes really appealed to him. He decided on the éclair instead. He really liked it, so it turned out okay. I still think it’s lame though. Ugh, carrot cake.

SDC13080.jpg

My mom got the Napoleon, which she really enjoyed as well!

SDC13079.jpg

I knew I wanted a cupcake, but I had no idea which one I would get until I got there. I decided on the Red Velvet because basically the entire DIS population raves about it and well, I love me some red velvet cake.

SDC13078.jpg

It’s so pretty!

SDC13082.jpg

The INSIDE. (Sorry it’s not very clear!)

Well, I enjoyed the cupcake. I really did… BUT it seems I am not a fan of toffee? I ended up wanting to take all the toffee pieces off. I definitely loved the cupcake, but not nearly as much as the ones from Contempo. They were just Heavenly! I couldn’t eat too much of it, so I put it in a box to take back home. (I never ended up finishing it, unfortunately! I had bites here and there, but I could never just sit and eat the rest.)

So, about Starring Rolls… I have to admit something. I’ve been hearing the name ‘Starring Rolls’ for I don’t even know how long, but when we were sitting outside eating, it FINALLY clicked that it was a play on the phrase ‘starring ROLES.’ Because it’s in Hollywood Studios… and… yeah… I know. I can’t believe it took me that long either. I’m usually so good at puns! I laughed at myself for a good 10 minutes about that.

After we ate our treats, we started making our way out of Hollywood Studios. We had big plans for the evening, but until then we were going to join the rest of the family and have some pool time! So we headed out…

SDC13074.jpg

It was SUCH a beautiful day! It was also a lot cooler than it had been the previous days, so it made it that much nicer.

Saying goodbye to Bo…

SDC13091.jpg

Are these not the coolest gates ever? These are right by the DHS exit, in case you weren’t aware. I don’t know, I took a lot of random pictures on this trip. Hahah.

SDC13088.jpg

Look at this soda machine!!! I mean, I’m sure you’ve all seen it before. I just think it’s adorable.

SDC13096.jpg

The DHS area has the most beautiful palm trees.

SDC13095.jpg

We made it to the bus stop, and we were actually the only people there!

Apparently I really wanted to prove to yall that we waited at Bus Stop # 11.

SDC13097.jpg

You’re SO welcome!

I'm hoping to be using Bus Stop # 11 again on a future trip.

We only had to wait a few minutes for our bus, and before we knew it we were back in the most beautiful villa ever! Time to go swimming!
