"Oh, it's raining..let's stay another day!" - An August 2011 TR - *UPDATE: 9/15*

The next country is France, where DSis decided to get some ice cream..
if you read my report last year you may remember the 'churro photoshoot' of my sister eating a churro! Well this year I did it again, only this time with ice cream!
So now this trip report proudly presents: The Ice Cream Photoshoot!!
Buying the ice cream:

Let the eating begin!

:rotfl: wasn't that great? :rotfl:
Next was the UK & Canada, but we didn't really look in them. We planned to do it next time we came to Epcot this trip.
Passing through the United Kingdom:

We exited the World Showcase and went back over to The Land to use our Soarin' fastpasses!!

Coming Up: Soarin' & Spaceship Earth!

Hey Celeste - great start to your TR!

I think family trips are awesome. My sons are almost 17 and 18. Only my younger son has any interest in Disney anymore. We are "making" him miss school for a few days in December for a quick trip.

I love POFQ. It's a great resort!

You have some really nice pictures of Epcot. I especially like the first one of spaceship earth with the tree in foreground. Very nice!

I had my first cloudberry horn this summer. I usually go for schoolbread or an almond pretzel, but I branched out. I may go for the mousse next time.

Loving all the World Showcase pictures. I never feel like I spend enough time there, no matter how many days we stay. There are so many things to see in the shops and the museums, and I am one who likes all the movies, too.

Aww, too bad your sons aren't too into Disney! I can't imagine someone having to make me miss school for Disney World!!
Thanks for reading. :)
That caramel chewy bar looks yum! Did you get that at the Caramel Shop?
It was yummy! And yes it's from the Caramel Shop! They have so many goodies there. :yay:

I usually got the schoolbread, too, but the cloudberry horn is so delicious!!
We've only seen the American Adventure show & the France movie, one day I do want to see the Canada movie, though. :thumbsup2
Thanks for reading along!!

I'm here! I loved your last two Tr's and was excited to see you had started another:goodvibes

That caramel bar looks delicious, as did your lunch in Norway.

Can't wait to hear more

Thank youu! :)
& yes, our Day 1 food was very delicious!!

Day 1 - Part 4

When I last left you we were leaving the World Showcase and going over to The Land.
When we made it to The Land we went right to Soarin' and used our fastpasses! Yay, our first ride on Soarin' of the trip. This is such a great ride!
After we got off of that we looked around Mouse Gear a little bit and then headed over to ride Spaceship Earth before making our way back to the hotel.
Spaceship Earth is a nice, relaxing ride & I love the new additions that take your picture and stuff.
Here are some pictures of the ride!
IMG_7762.jpg

IMG_7764.jpg

A blurry picture of Michelangelo:
IMG_7767.jpg

IMG_7769.jpg

We really left Earth on this ride!!
IMG_7773.jpg

I rode with DDad this time around..here's a look at our future.
My head got all chopped up on top..
IMG_7780.jpg

IMG_7783.jpg

IMG_7785.jpg

We saw ourselves on the big screen at the exit!
IMG_7787.jpg

Spaceship Earth as we're leaving:
IMG_7788.jpg

After that we went over to the bus stop. I think we didn't wait too long at all for a bus. The buses were really good from Port Orleans!
When we got back to the hotel, DSis looked oh so happy (as always!)
IMG_7797.jpg

We relaxed in the room for a bit (we had to wait until five o'clock because they don't serve all of their dinner foods until then) and then headed over to the hotel food court!
A picture on the way:
IMG_7804.jpg

DDad, DSis, & I got the rib and fried chicken combo. YUM!
IMG_7814.jpg

DMom got the pot roast..sorry it's half-eaten, I forgot to take a picture at first!
IMG_7808.jpg

And for dessert, DDad, DMom, and I got ice cream!! They give you so much ice cream here!
I got chocolate and strawberry:
IMG_7809.jpg

DDad got vanilla:
IMG_7811.jpg

DMom got mint chocolate chip:
IMG_7812.jpg

And DSis got beignets for dessert:
IMG_7813.jpg

When I finished eating, I took some pictures around the food court!
IMG_7814.jpg

And this next statue reminds me of the Blue Djinn from 'I Dream of Jeannie'..I called it the Green Djinn all trip.
See the resemblance?
IMG_7820.jpg
djinn.jpg

Now, when planning what we were going to do this night, we though we were going to be super tired due to us waking up at 3:30 AM so we were just going to hang around the hotel, but DSis and I weren't too tired so we decided to go to Magic Kingdom!! We were going to get to see the castle before DMom & DDad!! Haha!
So we went back to the room and got out stuff and then we were on our way to Magic Kingdom!!
IMG_7821.jpg

When we arrived at Magic Kingdom, I of course took about 4354654643 pictures of the castle, but lucky for you I'll only post a few!
IMG_7822.jpg

IMG_7824.jpg

I never usually turn anround on Main Street and take a picture of the train station:
IMG_7828.jpg

Getting closer!
IMG_7829.jpg

The first thing we did was head over to Frontierland to get fastpasses for Big Thunder Mountain!
IMG_7831.jpg

We got fastpasses for I think around 8:00, which was good because we wanted to wait until it got dark anyway.
Then we went over to see if anything had a short wait time.
Off to Fantasyland!
IMG_7832.jpg

PhilharMagic never has a wait so we did that.
I love these posters they have in the waiting area:
IMG_7835.jpg

IMG_7836.jpg

The show was great..I love the smells they puff out at you.
Next we looked around some Fantasyland shops:
IMG_7838.jpg

Then our plan was to check out Tomorrowland to ride the Transit Authority/People Mover! But to get to Tomorrowland, we cut through the castle!
IMG_7839.jpg

I love the view from the front of the castle:
IMG_7843.jpg

IMG_7845.jpg

IMG_7847.jpg

Then we went to Tomorrowland:
IMG_7849.jpg

Before we rode anything, I wanted to look around Mickey's Star Traders.
This Minnie is so cute! I bought it this trip, but not in this store:
IMG_7851.jpg

Some other items:
IMG_7852.jpg

IMG_7854.jpg

Now we were ready to go ride the TTA! I love this ride, so many great photos to take!!
IMG_7855.jpg

IMG_7857.jpg

Space Mountain!
IMG_7858.jpg

Indy Speedway!
IMG_7863.jpg

IMG_7868.jpg

Great view of the castle:
IMG_7869.jpg

Then we disembarked and looked at the Toy Story shop/stand out in Tomorrowland.
DSis: :rotfl:
IMG_7881.jpg

Then we planned to head over to Main Street and look in the shops to wait for our fastpass time to arrive.
This was so nice!
IMG_7887.jpg

Then we headed to Frontierland:
IMG_7894.jpg

We wanted to use out fastpasses for Big Thunder Mountain, but sadly they were down for technicl difficulties! We should have gotten fastpasses for Splash! Oh well. So we turned around and headed over to the bus stop to go back to the hotel.
So that concludes Day 1!

Coming Up: Disney's Hollywood Studios!

Great trip report is well done. Your pictures do a fine job complimenting your trip telling skills.

Quick question, how were the crowds at the begining of trip versus when you left? Could you tell much off a difference?

Joining in! :mickeyjum Great TR so far and I love your signature, I used to have a huge obsession with all the shows from the 60s, I Dream of Jeannie being one of them :thumbsup2

The beignets look delish! I'm glad the TTA and Space Mountain are up and running again! They were being worked on during my last visit.

Thank You!!
On our first Magic Kingdom day, it was definitley less crowded than our second MK day..but other than that I didn't really see too much of a difference. Crowds were generally good the whole trip. :thumbsup2

and me too, I Dream of Jeannie and Bewitched are my favorites! :happytv:

DSis loved the beignets..and I'm glad Space Mountain was open as well at the TTA! :goodvibes

Thank you for joining!

Oh Bewitched is my all-time favorite. I have up to Season 6 on DVD... I think, I got to look it over. I also like Gilligan's Island. :goodvibes

Definitely! If only he hadn't hurt his back he would've been on the show. I also liked the original Gladys Kravitz better than the new one.

Day 2 - Part 1

We made it to our second day on the TR! Today was our Hollywood Studios day. Usually we go to Magic Kingdom on our first full day, but it was EMH in the morning and it gets too crowded when that goes on. So, off the Hollywood Studios we went.
Before breakfast, DParents checked the weather:
IMG_7897.jpg

We walked down for out first breakfast at POFQ! I got a Mickey Waffle as my first breakfast of the trip!! (sorry I didn't bring my camera to brreakfast :sad2: ) I don't really remember what the rest of my family had..but after breakfast we headed back to the room to get all of our stuff and then went to the bus stop!!
I hate how foggy my camera lens gets when I first take it outside.
IMG_7899.jpg

A bus came pretty quickly, it was around 8:00 so I think it was the first bus going to Hollywood Studios from POFQ of the day!
When we got there we were even the first at our turnstile!! Awesome!
We had some waiting to do before we could get through the turnstiles, though..but pretty soon the CMs came out and we got to go wait at the rope.
And we actually got to see the rope drop at rope drop! How cool!
The rope (before it dropped):
IMG_7903.jpg

An empty park as we waited!
IMG_7902.jpg

DSis & I waiting for the park to open:
IMG_7907.jpg

More empty park:
IMG_7908.jpg

The crowd behind was pretty big!
IMG_7913.jpg

Pretty soon some people came out and told us we were going 'to star in a movie'!! 'Hollywood Here We Come!!'
IMG_7915.jpg

The plan was the DMom & DDad were going to get fastpasses for all of us for Toy Story Mania and meanwhile DSis and I would ride standby right away.
We were one of the first people on the ride.
An almost empty waiting area:
IMG_7919.jpg

IMG_7920.jpg

Our scores..I'm on the left and DSis is on the right. I lost, as usual, but I have pretty good accuracy!
IMG_7926.jpg

When we exited I got a good picture of the front of the ride, when sme of the crowds went down.
IMG_7927.jpg

We met up with DMom & DDad again after this, they had fastpasses for around 10:00-ish so before we could ride TSM we went over to the Animation Studio.
IMG_7928.jpg

We went to the drawing class and waited for the next session. Soon we were let in and we were going to vote on who we were going to draw. The guy listed a bunch of the characters he would teach us..among them were Grumpy, Tigger, Eeyore, Minnie, Bolt, and a bunch of others. So first he asked if anybody ever drew any of them before and we raised our hands because DSis and I drew Minnie last year. But this other girl must have like lived at the Animation Studio because she drew EVERY CHARACTER on the list except Tigger, Eeyore, & Bolt! So during the vote I voted for Eeyore, but Tigger won..by one vote! And later I learned that DDad voted for Eeyore AND Tigger!!! Idk why he felt the need to vote for two.
Anyway we drew Tigger. The teacher was okay, he had a slightly annoying voice, not too bad, but just enough to make you want to run out of there as fast as possible after a 20 minute drawing class.
So I didn't take a picture of our drawings, but mine didn't come out too well anyway. But of course DSis' was perfect..:sad2:..DMom's was good, but DDad's looked kind of like a sock monkey.
After the class, we looked around the Animation shop to wait for our fastpass time to arrive.
Of course, I took some pictures in the shop!
I love this!
IMG_7929.jpg

IMG_7939.jpg

We exited the shop and headed over to Toy Story Mania again.
IMG_7946.jpg

This time I rode with DMom..she beat me of course! But just look at that accuracy!!
IMG_7948.jpg

After TSM I wanted to meet Woody while I had my Toy Story shirt on, so DMom and I waited in line across from Toy Story Mania.
While we did that DSis and DDad went on the Great Movie Ride. I'm just slightly afraid of that ride.
As we waited on line, they have those things that you can take your picture with and the little kid behind us felt the need to lick all of them. :scared1: So for future reference, I wouldn't touch those.
Anyway, we made it to the front of the line and got to meet Buzz & Woody!
Here are a few pictures!
IMG_7949.jpg

IMG_7950.jpg

continued in next post

IMG_7951.jpg

After we were done, we met up with DDad & DSis and walked around a bit.
IMG_7952.jpg

Took a picture:
IMG_7953.jpg

And then we decided we were getting pretty hungry so we walked on over to Toy Story Pizza Planet for some lunch!
IMG_7954.jpg

IMG_7955.jpg

Our food! I got cheese pizza, with a Ceaser salad as a side..we all pretty much got the same thing so I only got a picture of my meal.
IMG_7956.jpg

After lucnh we looked around outside of Pizza Planet.
IMG_7957.jpg

Then decided to head over and go the the 12:30 American Idol show!
A few pictures while we waited:
IMG_7958.jpg

I love how much it looks like the real show in there!
IMG_7959.jpg

IMG_7960.jpg

The show was good. There were three girls. The first one sang 'Our Song' by Taylor Swift and she was good. My parents and sister voted for her. I voted for the next one, she sang 'Alone' and was really good! (she wound up winning..) And the last person sang 'Holding Out For A Hero', she was too old to be on American Idol, but was good, though!
After the show DSis wanted to ride Tower of Terror so she went there and DMom and DDad went and got ice cream over by there and then DMom, DDad, and I went over to Starring Rolls!
IMG_7965.jpg

I got the most delicious Red Velvet cupcake! The icing was cream cheese and there was a glob of cheesecake in the middle! It was so good!!
IMG_7963.jpg

IMG_7964.jpg

DSis came back from Tower of Terror and got a brownie. I don't have a picture of it becuase I went to the bathroom and it was already half-way eaten when I got back. Speaking of that, the bathrooms inside the Brown Derby are very cool! They have drawings of a bunch of Hollywood stars.
When I got back as DSis was eating, I took this very funny picture of DDad (and the funny thing is, he's telling me to not take a picture of him in the picture!) I just can't resist posting this!
IMG_7970.jpg

Okayy, so I'll leave you with a funny picture!

Coming Up: The rest of Hollywood Studios & Downtown Disney!

Wow! I can't believe you guys were actually the first at the turnstiles. That's just insane. But I guess it was to your advantage during the TSM mad dash. :thumbsup2 And you got to ride it twice, which is pretty good and I can't believe how high your accuracy is. It's amazing how the lower scores have the higher accuracy LOL

Ooooo... that's really cool they gave you a choice for what character to draw at the Animation Academy and such a big list, and for that girl to have TWO off that list, she really must go there A LOT, because usually, I hear, it's the same character over and over. :/

Love your Woody and Buzz pictures! :thumbsup2 But I can't believe that kid licked all of those picture-taking things. Nasty! Who would even think of doing that?! :sad2:

I guess "Holding Out For A Hero" is a popular song at the AIE. On my last trip, the girl who ended up winning for our show sang that song. She had a major in music so it was amazing. Maybe that song is a pointer for all the good singers :confused3

Oh my gosh, the Red Velvet Cupcake looks SOOOO GOOOD! The way you describe it and the pictures... ohhhhhhh... I MUST get one of those when I go back. I guess I'll go eat another Milky Way now to silence my hunger lol

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum
