Oh God There's The Yeti! - Siblings do Disney 2014 *update 9/16*

This is completely unrelated but have you guys heard that new Maroon 5 song "Maps"? It's been stuck in my head for days! I love it, but I wish I could get it un-stuck!

I've got a couple more days written up for you all to peruse through. I'm trying to keep myself occupied so I stop counting down the days so much. As much as I want the trip here, I remember the brutal winter we had and I start trying to enjoy the summer. It's been pretty humid a number of days here but all in all it hasn't been a bad summer.

My husband and I are gearing up for our anniversary trip. We got married August 24th 2008 (yup. I got married at 19 if you did the math!) but we always take a trip earlier in August to celebrate. This year we're just heading to Cincinnati for a few days. We'll hit up Kings Island (we have season passes), Ikea, Jungle Jim's, and probably the zoo. The plan after our trip last year (we went to DC) was California but that became too expensive since Mark went back to school and this Disney trip became a real thing.

Ok enough about that, here are the next few days of the trip!

  • September 10th:
This is our first studios day. We'll be at the party until very late the 9th so I made our fastpasses for a bit later. I don't want to sleep in too late but I also don't want to hustle us out the door!

Fastpass+'s:
  • TOT 2:00-3:00
  • Toy Story 3:40-4:40
  • Star Tours 5:15-6:15

I wanted to make one for Fantasmic but it was on the same tier as Toy Story and since this is possibly our only Studios day I wanted to make sure we did that with minimal wait. I very well may see if we can get a Fantasmic FP+ after we use our Toy Story one in the park that day. I hate waiting in the hot sticky crowd for the show. I never went to it last year because I didn't want to wait alone in the hot sticky crowd for it. Also I've probably seen the show at least 5 times? But Aaryn wanted to see it so we'll do it regardless.

I also want to do the Little Mermaid show and possibly Indiana Jones. I haven't seen either one in a very long time.

  • September 11th:
This is an EPCOT day and another later FP+ day. I don't love being dictated where to go when with the FP+'s but I also really like being able to KNOW we'll get to ride Soarin with a very minimal wait.

Fastpass+'s:
Mission Space 3:10-4:10
SSE 4:45-5:45
Soarin 6:20-7:20

In all honestly we probably won't use the first two. I might even switch Soarin' to earlier in the day so we can make another one for Test Track. I am accepting that that line will be long since it's still fairly new and we may have to single rider it a few times for a shorter wait. We're both independent people so it won't be a big deal. We'll probably hop in the line at least once. Aaryn isn't interested in Mission Space and I am prone to Vertigo so it might not happen regardless of having a FP+ for it or not. (though we could do the tame side but what fun is that?) I almost made him a deal that I would do Dinosaur if he did Mission Space with me but I don't know if I could keep that promise.

Something we did last year that I semi-hated was Ellen's Energy Adventure. I'm actually pretty freaked out by Animatronics and I got "spit" on by both of the ones in the time travel part. But it was relaxing other than that and funny. I'm not sure if we'll do it.

That's all I've got for now!

Congrats on your upcoming anniversary! Hope you guys enjoy your little trip together!

I haven't seen Fantasmic yet; I keep meaning to go watch it and I never do. I don't think I'll see it this trip either - we have either Wishes, Hallowishes, or Illuminations scheduled most nights!

I DO want to see LM this trip. I've never seen it and Mom and I are big fans of the movie.

I'm guessing you haven't done Dinosaur because of the animatronics? It's one of my favorite rides! I'm sorry I'll only get to ride it once this trip!

Thank you! That's coming up in about 17 days which means by the time we're leaving for it it'll be less than a month until WDW!:woohoo:

Fantasmic! is a really great show, if I had the patience I'd do it every trip but I dislike waiting in the line. It's just a hot mass of people. I will say though that there really isn't a bad seat per say so even if you arrive later you'll see everything. Hallowishes is so great! Have you seen it before?

I haven't see LM possibly since I was a kid? I don't remember seeing it on our honeymoon (which was to Disney) and I know I didn't on the two trips since. I remember it being pretty great though! If you love the movie you'll love the show!

That's a main component to my not riding yes! ;) I can handle most of the other animatronics (though I'm usually silently freaking out inside) but two or three times was enough for me! I see the appeal, I think I'd like it if I didn't have that fear! (I can't even do stuffed animals at museums or anything, I have to quickly walk through to another room!).

How about I liven this PTR up with some photos?! Here are some from my solo trip last year!

I was alone on the ride in the Mexico pavilion! I was also alone on Small World a few times. I'm not kidding, not a sole in sight! I think I also ended up on Living with the Land alone a few times.

This is an awful photo but if you're at a MNSSHP make sure you hang around HM and wait for this lady! I think her name was Carlotta? She was hilarious!

So at the Halloween party I had lost track of time and forgot about Hallowishes, and by the time I realized it was going on I was still on Small World, although I was towards the end. I ended up watching from NFL and it was actually a pretty cool vantage point!

Edited to add: I had another post with more photos to post but closed the browser for some reason! I'll add another later!

I have seen Hallowishes below but we missed the MVMCP fireworks - I forget what THOSE are called. We really want to see Hallowishes again. I have a great photo of the fireworks with the pumpkins on the castle; I stuck it in my PTR as an example of the only good pictures I had from MNSSHP. I take terrible pictures at night; I'm already working on it for our next trip hoping to do better!

We do love the movie, and so I do think we'll enjoy the show. Two trips ago we were in line for it and they cut the line off directly in front of us. We didn't want to wait, so we just left. How long is the show?

You probably would hate Dinosaur then! Those suckers pop out of everywhere! But I LOVE it, probably even more than EE.

I'm definitely following along. This is just too funny - my brother and I are going (the exact same dates as you) and we are also eight years apart! Here's to an amazing trip! :cool1:

NO WAY! What are the odds?! Haha Are you the oldest? Are you doing a trip report?! This is hilarious and awesome!

I am the oldest! I have never done a trip before and my brother is one to run around the parks from rope drop until they close, but I think I'll make a solid attempt this trip! :)

Hey guys, I have the last few days of our trip written out for ya! Here it goes!

  • September 12th:
This is another MK day. I'm hoping to get a BOG FP+ lunch reservation. I had one last year and it was great. The food was actually not that great but I've read that the meal I got hasn't been liked by many anyway. (i think I got a croque monsieur and a cream puff) I *think* I've told Aaryn I was trying to get this reservation but I can't remember exactly. He may have forgotten if I've forgotten too; so I'm not mentioning it to possibly make it another surprise.

I've been toying with signing us up for the Marceline to Magic tour on this day. It'd only be $60 for the both of us and I've heard it's a great tour. My biggest issue with it is it starts at 8:15, and you basically have to be there 15 minutes before the tour takes off so we'd have to get up at 7 and hustle to the bus. Neither of us sleep very well so I don't know if we'd be into it come the day of.

FP+s:
  • Mine Train 12:30-1:30
  • ETWB 1:40-2:40
  • Peter pan 2:55-3:55

Neither of us have done Belle. I almost want to switch it with one of the other two and potentially just get in line instead of skipping the cottage with FP. If we happen to do it on another day we probably won't do it this day either.

  • September 13th:
Our last full day is at Animal Kingdom. Now, I LOVE Animal Kingdom. I always have. I think the detailing is what makes it so special. Also they have an anteater and they're my favourite animal! and of course The Yeti! Gosh I love EE!

I think I'm going to make it a point to get up at 8:00 and to the park by 9:00 hopefully since it's only open until 6:00. We could also do DTD shopping after as well.

FP+'s:
  • Kali 10:25-11:25
  • Safari 12:00-1:00
  • FOTLK 1:30-1:50

This might have to be a day I really do make a solid plan of attack since it's kind of spread out. I found myself semi-lost last year and I think I wasted a little bit of time.

Of course we'll have to eat at Flaming Tree and I'm going to force Aaryn into Flights of Fancy. I saw it last year for the first time and it was so cool!

  • September 14th:
This day is up in the air. We both really want to do a park before we leave but I'm not 100% sure that's going to happen. I'm trying to get us a later flight but we're waiting on prices to drop a little more. I think we may end up getting a flight that leaves around 6 or 7 which means we have to be back at Pop by 3:00ish. In reality that really doesn't give us too much time in the parks since we'd have to factor in bus transport times but it'll be worth it.

Easywdw's most recommended park is HS so it's likely we'll end up there. I almost hate to not end with MK or Epcot (mostly because I don't know when we'll be back, let alone back together) but I also want to maximize our short amount of time.

FP+'s:
  • TOT 9:10-10:10
  • Toy Story 11:05-12:05
  • Star Tours 12:40-1:40

So if we get to the park at open we can have a fairly full day before we have to leave. I'm planning on us going back to a bus around 1:50 if it's a 6:00ish flight. Does that sound right? That way it gives us a little over an hour to get back to the hotel.

Your plans look great! I always make a plan to but end up not going by it too.

I hope you have a great anniversary trip! I like to have other things I am doing before a trip to so that it makes time go by faster. (In fact I just got home from a trip to Williamsburg.)

I love the bows I may look into getting some to go with my Disney Bound outfits. :thumbsup2

Well we're at 38 days out. This post is a hodgepodge of things, bare with me!

I still need to make Aaryn's MNSSHP shirt as the first one I made was messed up. Even if you buy transfer paper for "light" clothing, only use it on white! any white in your design will turn the colour of the shirt. I ended up buying a pack for light and dark clothing and used the dark on my own shirt which turned out well. That may happen next week sometime, this weekend is busy!

  • Tonight Aaryn's coming back to the house and Mark will be home so we're going to watch Sharknado 2 and cook dinner. My parents split up last year and my Dad and brother moved in with us as we had the space for them. My Dad moved out a few months ago but we fought for my brother to stay with us. (we don't like his new girlfriend he moved in with among other reasons) So Aaryn lives with us most of the time, but does go to their homes a few times a week. We haven't seen him for a week-ish so it'll be nice to spend some time with him.
  • Tomorrow I have to work and then I'm going to do a little shopping for myself and clean up our bedroom. It's a laundry explosion!
  • Saturday I have to work and then Aaryn and I are going to the state fair to see Charles Esten and Clare Bowen from ABC's Nashville for free! (Charles was also on Whose Line in the 90's/2000's? then billed as Chip)
    10447239_10203173957927621_2023379593_n.jpg

  • Sunday I have the day off but I think we may go hiking? We haven't enjoyed the outdoors enough this summer and it really hasn't been that hot.

Things we still need to purchase:
  1. Memory Maker. I think I've decided against the Marceline to Magic tour. It would be really cool but I just don't think we're going to want to get up early for it and we aren't the kind of people who will want to go all the way back to the resort to nap. The money I don't spend on that will go to Memory Maker! I'm very excited to get ride photos!
    sq02uh.jpg

  2. We still need a return flight! I've accepted that we're just going to have to pay more to fly later in the day. It stinks, but flights have stayed around the same price since dropping.
  3. Gum for the flight! I personally love Bubbleyum.
    1z3xrpg.jpg

and I think that's all! I'm going to try and catch up with other peoples PTR's today or tomorrow!

I didn't know there were light and dark transfer paper!

Sharknado 2? I didn't know there was a Sharknado 1!

I remember Chip from Whose Line! I thought he was a riot! That was the best show.

The tours are nice, but you do have to get up super early and give up part of your day for them. I think they're better suited for people who go often. We're doing a tour this trip that I'm really looking forward to, but we get to ride a bunch of rides on it so it makes up for missing the day!

I keep going back and forth on Memory Maker. It could be really great though, esp for ride photos. That's why I keep questioning it, especially now that it appears HM will have ride photos!!!

Sounds like a fun weekend.

We purchased the Memory Maker and I am looking forward to trying it out especially if DD grows enough for some of the bigger rides.

Thanks for reminding me to get lollipops for DD and gum for the rest of us on the flight, I had completely forgotten. :sad2:

Quickly I just wanted to share this special order we have coming through my store today! we hand pipe everything, no fondant here! It's often very hard to get characters right, especially with piping. I think they did a great job!

The Indy Crit bike race is going on today and I have a feeling it's going to slow down our business a bit (and it's drizzling a bit) so I'm going to try and catch up on PTR's while I'm at work!

Yes! Both were made for the Sci-Fi channel! Horribly bad but entertaining.

I'm very excited! He's very talented and it's free! There's a meet and greet and I am just so jazzed!

What tour are you doing? I still may sign us up for Behind the Seeds. Much shorter and flexible times.

HM has ride photos? Since when?

At least you can get ride photos on Buzz! And maybe Haunted Mansion?

Do suckers help with ear popping?

Ha, with a name like "Sharknado" I can only imagine how bad yet how entertaining!

We're doing the Ultimate Day of Thrills tour. It's 7-8 hours, so it will eat up a large chunk of our day, but we've been to WDW so many times it is exciting to do something different. As soon as I saw the tour I knew it was for us; I guess in a way we're paying for FP, but we are really looking forward to the VIP tour guides and the information they may give; plus, I've never eaten at WCC and it's rumored that is where our lunch is!

The HM ride photos are a rumor so far - but speculation is that they are putting the photo area in the new HM store/old Yankee Trader store.

Just a quick update!

The concert was great! We also got to meet them both, although we really just went for Chip! He was so incredibly nice (also really handsome!) Here's the photo we took!

Also we got Mickey Mail yesterday! 35 days out! I've gathered all the stuff I can so far, I'll probably get more into packing when Mark and I get back from vacation next week. I still need to finish Aaryn's shirt, I may do that tomorrow.

We probably won't use the luggage tags. It fell off my bag last year so I won't bother this year. We have some cool lego tags anyway!

The cake and cupcakes are awesome especially knowing that the cake was hand piped! That takes some serious talent.

Yay 35 days out! :cool1:

Jumped on last night! This will be the first trip report I follow. I'm heading to the world NEXT September with my sis and our mom. We haven't been together in almost 10 years. We're going to MNSSHP for the very first time so I'm SUPER looking forward to how your sibling trip goes! Can't wait to see!

I finally made Aaryn's shirt! They're not great, I wish I had ordered them from spreadshirt or something instead of iron on...but this was much cheaper! I've been thinking about buying some blue and green shoelaces for us for an extra little touch. Our costumes are so casual, I thought it might help. I wanted to decorate some flats for us but I don't think they'll be comfortable enough.

Tonight was the final day for Magic Band customization! Aaryn chose green, I chose blue. I had blue last year and I had red up until last night for this trip but I decided it would be cool if we matched our costumes (and hair) again. We also got My Fantasy Band decals (before she got a cease and desist letter from Disney:scared1::eek:) so it'll be mostly covered. I'll post pictures of those once the bands arrive...which will hopefully be by the end of the week!

In addition to the laces and the magic bands, I also bought some glow sticks (that I *think* have blue and green in the pack) and I'll probably paint my nails purple! (Sulley has purple spots right?) I don't know what else we can add!
