My 16 year old DD, Kendall, has been picked for a part in a movie that is being made in our area. She will be the only teen in the movie. Basically, she is the daughter of this upperclass couple. The couple have a lot of problems. The daughter rebels by becoming a "Goth". It is a relatively small part in a full length movie. The movie will not be shown in theaters, but it will go straight to video sales. It is a chance to actually work in a film and add to her resume. She wants to be a professional actor. I'm very happy for her. I met the director and I will be there with her at all times, so I'm not concerned about her being in the film. Overall, the film is rather violent, but not the part she will be in.

Now the bad news. Since she is supposed to be into "Goth", she has to dye her hair. There are pictures of her in my signature below. She has beautiful blond hair. I am going to see a hair systlist on Monday to discuss how we should do this. I'm afraid that even the temporary dyes are not going to come out completely. It wouldn't be so bad, but we are moving to Florida at the end of May. I'd really rather not have her meeting new friends with gray hair! I suppose, we could always put a blond rinse on afterward. Oh, what to do!

I had a friend once, a platinum natural blonde ( born in Holland ) who dressed as a geisha girl for a Halloween party. She temporarily colored her hair black. It all came out th4e next day. She had to shampoo over and over again, but it did all come out.

PS good luck to your daughter

No, it can't be a wig. I'm thinking that we can dye it blond again afterward. It may not be her exact color, but close enough that it won't look bad growing out. It will take a long time to grow out since her hair is so long.

I think they can bleach it to remove all the color...at least I've heard the ladies at my salon discussing it....usually when some walk-in type place has done a botch job and the customer comes in begging to get it fixed...

It's very rare that dye - even semi permanent, will completly wash out of blonde hair. Using a clairifying shampoo will help, as will a crystal treatment. Bleaching is an option after the usefulness of the dye is done, but can be somewhat damaging to the hair. Seeing a professional is a good idea. Asking at a local beauty supply is good too. I like sally beauty supply.
