Hello everyone! My wife and I will be in wdw dec 5th - 9th to celebrate the anniversary of our engagement at Epcot 15 years ago :) We have since been to every Disney park around the world except Paris.

This trip we will be traveling alone and are looking to stay offsite. Most of reviews I see are for families needing several bedrooms and a large space for all their stuff. We only need the one bedroom and don't need a pool. Is there anything besides a regular hotel that would fit for us...timeshare rental, house rental??? If a hotel is the best choice, can you give me a recommendation that would be close to wdw and have a good price since we will not be there very much?

Thanks for your help on my first post!

Only you can decide what type of accommodations will best suit your needs. People usually strongly prefer either a hotel/resort or a timeshare/condo/home set up. Really with 2 people and stating that you will not use the room very much I would think you wouldl be fine with a hotel room unless you desire a washer/dryer, full kitchen etc.

I would suggest the Hilton Downtown Disney as that is close to the parks and has the added benefit of being able to use EMH at the parks. It is a nice mid level hotel. For the dates you listed I get a rate of $112 before fees and taxes, total of $150 with everything added. The Doubletree in DTD has been recently renovated and listed for your dates at $95. There is also a Hampton Inn Lake Buena Vista that may be less expensive but I have not stayed there.

If you want a romantic experience and will spend some time at the resort I would try The Waldorf. $159 before fees only available through the 8th though.

If may be more helpful if you post what type of accommodations you would like and a budget you would like to stick to. You will get more responses with more info.

If you don't need (or want) all the space of a villa or timeshare property, I would suggest an atrium view room at Gaylord Palms :thumbsup2 . Not a budget choice, but it sure would be nice for a couple's trip ::yes::.

Thanks for the help! I should of been a bit more clear :) we are not looking for a place that doesn't have a pool, just that we will not be using it , so it's not a priority. We would normally stay on property, but I just found out that the pop warner dates got moved to overlap a few days we are there, and from shift I has read that's not a great time to stay on site.

I will check out the suggestions. Thanks again!

DTD hotel locations are nice because if you and your spouse eat dinner in DTD and have a few drinks, you can walk back to the hotel. I am a big fan of Gaylord Palms for off site. It's also a nice resort for couples.

I'm not sure if you're set on not staying on site, or what the budget is you're looking for, but it sounds like you may be spending time at Epcot??

If so, I'm a big fan of the Swan and Dolphin for the location. I don't know if you're stayed there before, but it would be nice for a couple. You can walk to Epcot or DHS, and get to the other parks by bus.

Otherwise, there are so many choices really nearby! Will you have a car and want to drive, or be needing shuttles?

My sister just had a stay at the Waldorf Astoria, and they used the shuttles some and taxis some on return - her rate was very reasonable (although she said they spent a lot on room service!) and it's nice and upscale (more so than the Swan and Dolphin, but I like them for the location more than anything).

We'll be down there during the same time that your are (Dec 6th-16th). I booked a one bedroom at Wyndham Bonnet Creek through Aaron Washburn through myresortnetwork.com for just $60.00 per night. Bonnet Creek is within the WDW gates (maybe 5 minutes to Epcot, DS, or DTD). We stayed there this past May and fell in love with it. Just a couple of weeks ago (Sept 14th-22nd) I stayed there again solo. I didn't really need all the space in a one bedroom and had considered staying at one of the Value resorts to save money, but when I ran the numbers I could get the one bedroom at Bonnet Creek cheaper than I could a Value resort through Disney.

You are going to Orlando so you'll encounter families everywhere. That said, the larger resorts usually have a quiet, dedicated adult pool. I know that the Hilton Parc soleil has one and so did marriott cypress harbor. As you look into resorts ask about them. You'll also find rooms from studios to 2 bedrooms so you can pick the amount of space you want and pay accordingly.

The Swan/Dolphin are in a great location if you visit Epcot a lot and you would have access to Disney transport if you are not renting a car. Dolphin is sold out for your dates but Swan is available for $252 a night including taxes/fees with AAA discount.

We stayed at the Omni and really liked it. If you are a rewards member (free sign up) you get beverages delivered in the morning and turn down. The golf/pool view is beautiful. From the end of the hall we actually could see fireworks. Definitely more romantic than on site during Pop. (Even thought most stay at values)
