Official Worst Room Location Thread

At the SWAN, our view we had a partial view of the roof and AC Units. I got such a great rate I didnt bother complaining, but had I paid rack (or even close) I would have asked to be moved.

Any rooms to avoid at Pop?

We stayed at POP last May and loved it but I would stay away from the '90's. That's where we were and it was quite a hike to the food court and the main pool. Not much of a view of anything either.

Ugg thats where we were hoping to stay. My little guy absolutely loves the keyboard on the ground. :upsidedow

Andything in Trinidad South at CBR. :scared: It's so far off from everything, I forget I'm even in the resort! And it's the last bus stop...the AM buses almost always fill up before they get there. We stayed in that location twice several years ago and vowed NEVER again!:sad2:

I;m starting to get a little paranoid. We are staying at allstars movies. We booked a preferred room because we were told that the standard rooms could have a hike to the buses from them. I'm wondering if the preferred rooms are going to be the same.

I've requested the 80's building at POP because I love Roger Rabbit. :thumbsup2

Does anyone know how much of a hike that is from the food court? I don't want to end up regreting my decision. :confused3

80's is not bad. It's sandwiched between 70's (preferred) and 90's (way out by the parking lots). 80's is in a pretty good location. I'd ask for a room as close as possible to the main building.

We stayed at the WL last month and had paid for a woods view room. When I had made the reservation way back in July, I requested a king bed room on an upper floor. When we checked in we were told we had been upgraded to a courtyard view. Ok, that sounded fine, but then they said it was on the first floor. I told them that I had requested an upper floor, so they looked and found something on the fifth floor that I could have, but not that night, I had to wait one night to get it.

When we went to the first floor room, we couldn't find the first floor. We had no idea that the lobby was located on the second floor, and you had to go down to the first floor from there. After trying to find the first floor for a while, we finally went back to the front desk to ask for directions. Apparently there was only one elevator in the entire hotel that went down to that floor, and they showed us where it was. I was so glad that I had told them I didn't want that room after I had seen it. It ended up being a handicapped access room, which we didn't need, and our upgraded view was of a patch of dirt that was under the area where the waterfall would come out of. You could see the pool if you stepped out and looked right.

I double checked with the desk that night to make sure our next room was a regular king room, and that the view was better than the one I was looking at. I was assured it was a great view and a normal king room, which it truly was. The next room was right in the center of the lodge and faced directly out to Bay Lake, it was a beautiful view. This was our first trip to WDW and I had so been looking forward to our stay at WL. I'm thankful that they were able to move us. Our friends checked in the same day we did and were upgraded from a woods view room to a concierge room. I guess it's just the luck of the draw.

The same thing almost happened to me. :( I am beginning to see a pattern with Wilderness Lodge and solo/couples here. My guess is WL seems to place them in unused king bed handicapped-assessible rooms, basically the left-overs that people who truly need a handicapped-assessible rooms didn't want/use. And many of these rooms are ground floor (not all, but many I would guess) and at the ends or bends of hallways. I had this experience with king beds twice now.

I stayed solo at WL last month (my second solo trip there) and paid for a courtyard view, and I requested a balcony. At check-in, guess what? No balcony. I was assigned a first floor room (room 1065 or something) that was one floor down from the lobby, and the absolute farthest end of the hall. This room would have had a view of people sitting at the pool bar, forget a view of the courtyard! Fortunately at check-in, I realized how awful this room was (and I would have switched resorts before taking a ground floor room there again) and begged for something else. Voila - got a 3rd floor room with a balcony overlooking the stream coming out the lobby. Wonderful room! :cloud9:

But I am seeing a pattern here which I don't like. If as a solo, I have to fight for a non-ground-floor non-handicapped assessible room to stay at WL, I may be scratching them off my list. It's like I am forbidden to ever have a balcony! I never have this problem at AKL, which is a similar design. Oh well. :confused3

:rotfl: My sister got stuck in all star music and her and her boyfriend got stuck in the country music area [their rock music fans :lmao: ] and their friends got rock musiShe was SO mad about the walk to everything.

I haven't stayed in the 80's yet but have walked around it, and compared to some of the other resorts it really isn't very far from any of the buildings to the food court.

Our worst room was BLD 20 at OKW. The parking for the building is the bus turnaround for Millers Road. You could hear the buses until the wee hours of the morning.

I have booked two rooms for 2 nights at the Swan using the nursing rate, which they say are standard views. I'm sure we will get the view overlooking trash cans!!

Well, ya never know :wizard:

That is EXACTLY what happens! Always, ask for a room with 2 Queen Beds at WL! BTW,

I think a lot of resorts put the king rooms on the ground floor so that the people in wheelchairs can get out of the building during a fire. However, WL is notorious.

Movies is the best laido-out of the three All Star resorts. It's not long and narrow like Music, it's more of an oval.

No room at Pop Century is more than 750 feet from the center of Classic Hall. Eighties and Nineties (and Seventies) are good because you're actually relatively close to the bus stop and Everything Pop - moreso than the popular Fifties buildings.

Any more recommendations on POP, good or bad?
Why are the 50's so popular?
We have a discount, so it has to be a preferred room,
and I noticed they are all towards the inside of the resort, facing
pools and such. I would prefer a quiter room.
We currently have requested 50s or 60s, just because
everything I've seen points to these as the best sections,
but I'm wondering if anyone has any more input.

Also, have stayed twice at POR at the Acadian House
building overlooking the courtyard...it is very beautiful!
It is a bit of a walk from the main bus stop, but very close
to the third (I think) stop.
We actually preferred the extra walk through the grounds, past
the river and pool and such, instead of catching the bus
that was less than two minutes from us, simply because it
is so beautiful.

I've also stayed Poly and ASMu, standard rooms, and have
nothing to complain about there.

We mostly stay at the campground, with a preferred site;
in case anyone is wondering, the 100, 200, and 400 loops are perfect!!
Very close to the marina and depot. Last time, we stayed
at the very outer edge of 400, and our nearest bathroom
was maybe 50 feet away, at the edge of the 100 loop.
And it is only a few minutes' walk to get to where you need to go.

We've stayed 800 before, and that does add up to maybe an 8-10 minute
walk, but again, it is such a peaceful, beautiful walk that we don't mind..
but adding up all of that time waiting for transportation can take a toll.

One of my vacations I spent 2 nights at The Swan, then 4 nights at BWV. I got the 12th floor at The Swan - Fine. I got a balcony, that was fine. I wasn't far from the elevator - fine.

HOWEVER ...... I kept hearing this strange hissing noise all night.
And I'm a light sleeper !!
I finally figured out that the headboard of my bed was right up against the wall of the elevators !!!!

I did not ask to be moved because I only had one more night there.
Then I had the BWV for better rest.

Last year we stayed at POP for a couple of nights and had preferred rooms, they were in the 60's building, but on the inside facing a courtyard and one of the 50's buildings. It was quite at night and close to the food court and the buses

I stayed at POP on my last visit, and I don't know if we just got lucky but the whole resort was very quiet. We were in the 70's section (didn't ask for it, just happened to get it but I think someone said it's considered a preferred? I'm not sure, we paid regular price), first floor. I don't remember the room number, but if you walked out the door the giant Mickey phone was across the way to your left. We had a very short walk to the food court and to the buses.

It certainly beat the long hike we had to and from the Country section at ASMusic on our first trip in 1997.
