Any rooms to avoid at Pop?
We stayed at POP last May and loved it but I would stay away from the '90's. That's where we were and it was quite a hike to the food court and the main pool. Not much of a view of anything either.

It's so far off from everything, I forget I'm even in the resort! And it's the last bus stop...the AM buses almost always fill up before they get there. We stayed in that location twice several years ago and vowed NEVER again!

I've requested the 80's building at POP because I love Roger Rabbit.![]()
Does anyone know how much of a hike that is from the food court? I don't want to end up regreting my decision.![]()
We stayed at the WL last month and had paid for a woods view room. When I had made the reservation way back in July, I requested a king bed room on an upper floor. When we checked in we were told we had been upgraded to a courtyard view. Ok, that sounded fine, but then they said it was on the first floor. I told them that I had requested an upper floor, so they looked and found something on the fifth floor that I could have, but not that night, I had to wait one night to get it.
When we went to the first floor room, we couldn't find the first floor. We had no idea that the lobby was located on the second floor, and you had to go down to the first floor from there. After trying to find the first floor for a while, we finally went back to the front desk to ask for directions. Apparently there was only one elevator in the entire hotel that went down to that floor, and they showed us where it was. I was so glad that I had told them I didn't want that room after I had seen it. It ended up being a handicapped access room, which we didn't need, and our upgraded view was of a patch of dirt that was under the area where the waterfall would come out of. You could see the pool if you stepped out and looked right.
I double checked with the desk that night to make sure our next room was a regular king room, and that the view was better than the one I was looking at. I was assured it was a great view and a normal king room, which it truly was. The next room was right in the center of the lodge and faced directly out to Bay Lake, it was a beautiful view. This was our first trip to WDW and I had so been looking forward to our stay at WL. I'm thankful that they were able to move us. Our friends checked in the same day we did and were upgraded from a woods view room to a concierge room. I guess it's just the luck of the draw.
I am beginning to see a pattern with Wilderness Lodge and solo/couples here. My guess is WL seems to place them in unused king bed handicapped-assessible rooms, basically the left-overs that people who truly need a handicapped-assessible rooms didn't want/use. And many of these rooms are ground floor (not all, but many I would guess) and at the ends or bends of hallways. I had this experience with king beds twice now.

My sister got stuck in all star music and her and her boyfriend got stuck in the country music area [their rock music fans
] and their friends got rock musiShe was SO mad about the walk to everything.

Our worst room was BLD 20 at OKW. The parking for the building is the bus turnaround for Millers Road. You could hear the buses until the wee hours of the morning.
I have booked two rooms for 2 nights at the Swan using the nursing rate, which they say are standard views. I'm sure we will get the view overlooking trash cans!!

The same thing almost happened to me.I am beginning to see a pattern with Wilderness Lodge and solo/couples here. I stayed solo at WL last month (my second solo trip there) and paid for a courtyard view, and I requested a balcony. At check-in, guess what? No balcony. I was assigned a first floor room (room 1065 or something) that was one floor down from the lobby, and the absolute farthest end of the hall. This room would have had a view of people sitting at the pool bar, forget a view of the courtyard! Fortunately at check-in, I realized how awful this room was (and I would have switched resorts before taking a ground floor room there again) and begged for something else. Voila - got a 3rd floor room with a balcony overlooking the stream coming out the lobby. Wonderful room!
But I am seeing a pattern here which I don't like. If as a solo, I have to fight for a non-ground-floor non-handicapped assessible room to stay at WL, I may be scratching them off my list. It's like I am forbidden to ever have a balcony! I never have this problem at AKL, which is a similar design. Oh well.![]()
Movies is the best laido-out of the three All Star resorts. It's not long and narrow like Music, it's more of an oval.utkscvol1 said:;m starting to get a little paranoid. We are staying at allstars movies. We booked a preferred room because we were told that the standard rooms could have a hike to the buses from them. I'm wondering if the preferred rooms are going to be the same.
No room at Pop Century is more than 750 feet from the center of Classic Hall. Eighties and Nineties (and Seventies) are good because you're actually relatively close to the bus stop and Everything Pop - moreso than the popular Fifties buildings.Disney Padawan said:I've requested the 80's building at POP because I love Roger Rabbit.

Any more recommendations on POP, good or bad?
Why are the 50's so popular?
We have a discount, so it has to be a preferred room,
and I noticed they are all towards the inside of the resort, facing
pools and such. I would prefer a quiter room.
We currently have requested 50s or 60s, just because
everything I've seen points to these as the best sections,
but I'm wondering if anyone has any more input.
