. . .and if you're into the bling, it could be pretty nice having an anniversary W&D medal and an inaugural Avengers medal. . .![]()
Ugh...I'm sort of waffling about signing up for W&D (and Avengers) and what you just posted is KILLING me!!!!
I already did Tink and Princess and got a Pink C2C medal...it would be so nice to do W&D and Avengers and also get the standard blue one...
I'm already signed up for TOT...
I think I'll have trouble finding someone to run with me for W&D. I'm not as worried about Avengers because I have a lot of friends and family in So. Cal...but I don't know anyone in Florida. I posted a note on my extended family's facebook page about W&D, hoping that some of my cousins who run would be interested, but no bites.
I'm reluctant to ask any of my friends--I'm not super close to any of my local running friends, and a trip to Disney is a really big deal with money, and also time spent away from family...
Ugh, so jealous. The info while registering said one (normal) C2C per year. (the pink one is different) If I do Avengers, I will have done WDW then DLR Half, and W&D and Avengers. I should get two C2C darnit! Even though one wouldn't be pink.
Why do you need someone to run with? I'm most likely doing W&D alone (I did invite a friend but doubt she'll do it), and I did WDW Half alone. My brother is running DL with me, but I probably wouldn't even tell him if I do Avengers (he balked at the price for DL b/c it's just so out of line compared to other races and I'd be embarrassed for him to know, LOL).
Nice thing about doing a solo race is that you won't be one of a group blocking people behind you! (literally something I thought of while running and trying to get around rows of 4 and 5 women in poofy tutus seemingly unaware that they were taking up the whole road...)
Yeah, I might end up doing it alone. I have done other races alone, but would just like to do this one with someone else.
Hi! I just signed up for the half. I've never run more than a 5K and am about 20-lbs overweight, but I'm doing a 10-miler at home in May with my friend who donated a kidney. And we were already planning to go that week in Nov. for my hubby's 40th and my daughter's 10th birthdays, so why not? Running a longer Disney race has been a long-time goal of mine.
We are AP and DVC. I'm planning on running and walking, but hopefully can finish before the 16 minute pace. If anyone wants company, I'd love to meet some new people. I'm a 37-year old mom of three kids from PA.![]()
So excited!! I will actually get to meet Rose in person!
We are on board to do both races. I just have to work on the logistics of getting then DS14, DS13 and DD8 back to the park for the after party. I figure then DS18 will be in corral A or B so he could go back to the room and get them or they could just walk to the international gateway and meet us there.
And I need to work on getting a heck of a lot faster. LOL
I'd be up for a meet up! Where in PA are you from?
Southeast PA, near King Of Prussia and Valley Forge Park. Looking forward to meeting some people.
I use to live in Exton and Downingtown and worked in West Chester. I am very familiar with the KoP/Valley Forge area. I use to love walking thru Valley Forge Park.
I am actually going to be in the area in a few weeks for the Phillies 5K (my family and lots of friends still live in the area)
Yeah, I might end up doing it alone. I have done other races alone, but would just like to do this one with someone else.
How fast does the 5K usually sell out?

Historically, it has been months.... but I notice the ToT 5k is over 50% full in a month.
I think it would really be like swimming upstream to get back out, but you could cheer for them as they run through epcot.
The finish of this race and the area afterwards feels very cramped and crazy to me, I think cause it is dark.
I finished about 30 minutes behind Mike last year and he got his food and waited for me outside, didn't go in, but after you get your food you go through this area where they hand out the beer/wine and I think it would be hard to come back through that area.
He didn't actually see me finish, but another wisher was tracking me on their phone, so they knew when I was close to look for me as I came through the food area.
Does that make any sense at all?
Obviously there are people who wait at the finish, so maybe someone else will have a better idea. I have always felt on stimulus overload at the end of this race and wanted to get as far away from the finish as possible.![]()
I totally agree with rose here. I would plan to see them as they run through Epcot and then pick a meeting place inside the party. On the park entrance side of spaceship earth if u think they will want to see u as soon as possible. If there is one thing I hate about this race it's the course crossing you have to do as a spectator or finished runner around spaceship earth. It can take forever for them to let you cross but that's the nature of the course. I wouldn't go back to the finish area because it would take forever and it's a huge sea of people. I agree with rose, I feel more crowded after this race than any other Disney ones. Probably because its night and because its a smaller race so the finish area is not as large as at princess.
I really don't think the race is going to be an overnight sell out, but since I tend to get nothing done during the week, I took advantage of the early dvc registration and the weekend and signed up me, Mike and our DS (22). This is number 5 for me and Mike and number 2 for DS.
Normally I don't even register early enough to get the tier 1 pricing, let alone a discount.
I saw nothing on the registration about the anniversary and whether they are doing anything for legacies, so I will be curious if anyone else hears anything.
I guess I could email and ask...
ETA...ok I emailed. I will let everyone know if I hear anything.![]()
