Official Wine & Dine 2014

Signed up for the half and 5K! :yay: So looking forward to a healthy race weekend after (barely) completing last year's races with an injury. :goodvibes

. . .and if you're into the bling, it could be pretty nice having an anniversary W&D medal and an inaugural Avengers medal. . . :rolleyes1

Ugh...I'm sort of waffling about signing up for W&D (and Avengers) and what you just posted is KILLING me!!!!

I already did Tink and Princess and got a Pink C2C medal...it would be so nice to do W&D and Avengers and also get the standard blue one...

I'm already signed up for TOT...

I think I'll have trouble finding someone to run with me for W&D. I'm not as worried about Avengers because I have a lot of friends and family in So. Cal...but I don't know anyone in Florida. I posted a note on my extended family's facebook page about W&D, hoping that some of my cousins who run would be interested, but no bites. :(
I'm reluctant to ask any of my friends--I'm not super close to any of my local running friends, and a trip to Disney is a really big deal with money, and also time spent away from family...

Trying to pay for W&D half and Avengers half, plus a WDW vacation is what made me just do the 5ks this year. Maybe next year. I'm not really ready for a 1/2 anyway. :)

Ugh, so jealous. The info while registering said one (normal) C2C per year. (the pink one is different) If I do Avengers, I will have done WDW then DLR Half, and W&D and Avengers. I should get two C2C darnit! Even though one wouldn't be pink.

Why do you need someone to run with? I'm most likely doing W&D alone (I did invite a friend but doubt she'll do it), and I did WDW Half alone. My brother is running DL with me, but I probably wouldn't even tell him if I do Avengers (he balked at the price for DL b/c it's just so out of line compared to other races and I'd be embarrassed for him to know, LOL).

Nice thing about doing a solo race is that you won't be one of a group blocking people behind you! (literally something I thought of while running and trying to get around rows of 4 and 5 women in poofy tutus seemingly unaware that they were taking up the whole road...)

Yeah, I might end up doing it alone. I have done other races alone, but would just like to do this one with someone else.

I registered myself and my sister for Wine and Dine using early registration (AP holder). Yay! Excited and it will be my sisters first half marathon. Kinda concerned that I don't see it on my Active account though. Should I call? I have copies of the registration but would hate to assume we are registered and find out later we aren't.

I am going to end up doing it alone. I am going down with a friend and she is going to the 5K in the morning but isn't up for running her first half marathon at night. On one hand I don't mind running it alone but on the other it would be nice to have someone there with me during the expereince.

Hi! I just signed up for the half. I've never run more than a 5K and am about 20-lbs overweight, but I'm doing a 10-miler at home in May with my friend who donated a kidney. And we were already planning to go that week in Nov. for my hubby's 40th and my daughter's 10th birthdays, so why not? Running a longer Disney race has been a long-time goal of mine.

We are AP and DVC. I'm planning on running and walking, but hopefully can finish before the 16 minute pace. If anyone wants company, I'd love to meet some new people. I'm a 37-year old mom of three kids from PA. :)

I'd be up for a meet up! Where in PA are you from?

So excited!! I will actually get to meet Rose in person!

We are on board to do both races. I just have to work on the logistics of getting then DS14, DS13 and DD8 back to the park for the after party. I figure then DS18 will be in corral A or B so he could go back to the room and get them or they could just walk to the international gateway and meet us there.
And I need to work on getting a heck of a lot faster. LOL

OOOhhh! My Budget Board and no-buy buddy. I'd love to meet you!

Southeast PA, near King Of Prussia and Valley Forge Park. Looking forward to meeting some people.

I use to live in Exton and Downingtown and worked in West Chester. I am very familiar with the KoP/Valley Forge area. I use to love walking thru Valley Forge Park.

I am actually going to be in the area in a few weeks for the Phillies 5K (my family and lots of friends still live in the area)

Nice! It's a pretty area. I'm doing the Broad Street Run in May. Yikes! Good luck on your race, I'll try to check this thread often.

Ah well that makes sense. I was worried you thought you *had to* run with someone!

But your reason is the reason my brother has agreed to run the Disneyland Half WITH me. He says he's run plenty of races alone, and he'd like to have someone with him. So he'll go at my slow slow pace (poor guy).

lol Sorry!

I'd check with runDisney on whether or not the C2C works that way, in terms of being able to get a pink one and a blue one in one year; my reading of the C2C page was that you could only qualify for one C2C per year, regardless of color. . . might help provide a counter argument to my previous post. . .

What about asking some people here? We're already committing the time and money to go down, so you could ask about anyone running/walking your pace or with a similar strategy who wouldn't mind some company. I've seen several people do that on another site I visit for Disney runners and have good experiences with it. Couldn't hurt!

Historically, it has been months.... but I notice the ToT 5k is over 50% full in a month.

Thanks! I am running the half and my friend is just doing the 5K and I can't decide if I want to do the 5K as well. I am trying to figure out about how long I have to decide. It is my first half and I am not sure if I want to add in the 5k.

I think it would really be like swimming upstream to get back out, but you could cheer for them as they run through epcot.

The finish of this race and the area afterwards feels very cramped and crazy to me, I think cause it is dark.

I finished about 30 minutes behind Mike last year and he got his food and waited for me outside, didn't go in, but after you get your food you go through this area where they hand out the beer/wine and I think it would be hard to come back through that area.

He didn't actually see me finish, but another wisher was tracking me on their phone, so they knew when I was close to look for me as I came through the food area.

Does that make any sense at all?

Obviously there are people who wait at the finish, so maybe someone else will have a better idea. I have always felt on stimulus overload at the end of this race and wanted to get as far away from the finish as possible. :goodvibes

I totally agree with rose here. I would plan to see them as they run through Epcot and then pick a meeting place inside the party. On the park entrance side of spaceship earth if u think they will want to see u as soon as possible. If there is one thing I hate about this race it's the course crossing you have to do as a spectator or finished runner around spaceship earth. It can take forever for them to let you cross but that's the nature of the course. I wouldn't go back to the finish area because it would take forever and it's a huge sea of people. I agree with rose, I feel more crowded after this race than any other Disney ones. Probably because its night and because its a smaller race so the finish area is not as large as at princess.

Absolutely agree with you both! :thumbsup2 The DH has met me right inside the park both years and it was so much easier than trying to find him in a crowd. Just get me my bling, water, and snack box and get me the heck out of dodge! :lmao:

I really don't think the race is going to be an overnight sell out, but since I tend to get nothing done during the week, I took advantage of the early dvc registration and the weekend and signed up me, Mike and our DS (22). This is number 5 for me and Mike and number 2 for DS.

Normally I don't even register early enough to get the tier 1 pricing, let alone a discount.:rotfl:

I saw nothing on the registration about the anniversary and whether they are doing anything for legacies, so I will be curious if anyone else hears anything.

I guess I could email and ask...

ETA...ok I emailed. I will let everyone know if I hear anything. :)

Thanks Rose!

I was able to "hijack" my way into the AP early reg and have been doing the happy dance ever since! Already working on this year's costume! :woohoo: Can you believe it's only 249 days away?!? Lol! :rotfl2:
