Official Wine and Dine 2017 thread

I think the 5K isn't sold out as no one knows what the course or theme are.
I think the 5Ks are just about always the last to sell out. I think in my experience the sellout order has generally been:

- challenge
- 10K
- half
- 5K

Stupid question - I am registered for the 10K, can you upgrade to the Two Course challenge somehow? It is still available..

As long as its still open, yes - you have to first register for the challenge, then complete a transfer form and rD will refund the original 10K registration, minus the fee:
  • Registrations may be transferred within the same race weekend, to a different race distance, as long as the desired race distance is not sold out. The Guest must first register for the new event for the transfer to be valid; any difference in registration price the for a lesser distance (if any) will then be refunded, less a $45 transfer processing fee.
^from the Registration tab on the rD W&D webpage.

Normally, that transfer form is on the page so you can see the deadline, but it's not there. I'd contact rD before you register for the challenge to make sure it's still available.

There's a form that you need to fill out but it's not linked on that page...not sure why.

Last year I did a transfer for PDC and it was technically past the transfer point. The form wasn't up on the website so I had to get it e-mailed to me - but in the end there were no issues. Like @PrincessV I would send them an e-mail first and make sure it's still all good.

Ahhh... memories... Was my very first race longer than a 10K, back in 2013... wish they'd bring it back...

At this point I am not sure if I miss it because I only got to run it once and then it was taken away, or if it truly was that amazing. Either way, it goes down as one of my favorite races ever! (Even though I drug my leg behind me for 9.5 miles of it).

I wonder that too! LOL!

We did the 5K that morning, then 10-miler at night, then after-party. Exhausting day, if you think about it objectively, but we found it oddly exhilarating! I'd do it again in a heartbeat if they bring it back. I'm guessing they won't... everything being a 5K-10K-half combo now... And they had the nerve to get rid of ToT in DL... doesn't bode well that it would come back in that same incarnation.

Newbie response here:

Yikes! Just went to the site and the 1/2 Marathon and 10k are already sold out. So I am signed up for the 5k!
IF you would consider using a travel agent, here is one that I used in the past that still has 10K and half available...

They do now require min 2 nights hotel and min 2-day park tickets to sell the bib to you (since Disney has changed their requirements for TAs).

All just a thought, in case you had your heart set on a different race. I'm sure there are some charities out there with bibs as well, but I have never gone this route and don't have info on it. Info on charities and TAs are on rD's site: https://www.rundisney.com/wine-and-dine-half-marathon/

Just in a quandary. We really liked this race last year but I've been anxious to do a Disneyland race and Super Heroes Weekend would also allow us to see the Christmas decorations and ride overlays at Disneyland. I know I'm gonna have to man up and make a choice but I'm gonna hate doing it. Either way it'll feel like I'm missing out.

Thanks for the information. I always just book online for my WDW/DCL adventures, so I didn't think of that! Since this will be my first, I will probably stick with the 5k. Guess I should start looking now for my next race!!!
