Official Wine and Dine 2017 thread

I'm not sure if they are allowing buddy passes at all for wine and dine. I have email out to ask. I know they are for marathon weekend and I believe avengers

Two sets of questions, sorry if it has been covered before:

What is the course like for the W&D 10k? Would the Star Wars 10k be a good indication? Is there a link to a map somewhere?

What are on-course and post-race refreshments? Is it necessary to allow time during the race to pick some up? I usually don't eat while running but, then, I do not typically run so early during the day. Trying to adjust my dining and race strategy...

Thanks!

Good questions…I would like to know this as well.

Similarly, are there on-course refreshments for the half? I hadn't even thought of that...

There should be an aid station with bananas and one with Clif gels. They're usually in the mile 7-10 range on the course.

There are plenty of stations along the course with water/poweraid also. I've always found the Disney races to be the most well stocked in that sense and have never carried my own fluids

As for the course.... we won't be sure of the exact route for quite some time but can guess based on last year / other Rundisney 10ks!

Last year the 10k (first yr for wine & dine 10k ) was all at EPCOT, same course as during Jan marathon weekend & Princess weekend. It says Start/Finish: Epcot® on rundisney so I would assume it's going to be that same course and not the Darkside course. Darkside 10k is a totally new course this year (it was a new different course last yr too for it's first yr). Of course their start/finish description could very well change, but for now I would go with it being the EPCOT course like last year & not Darkside.

As has already been mentioned, no course map released for W&D 2017 yet. I kind of doubt they'll make any changes from last year, though.

On-course refreshments for the 10K are water stops; no Powerade for the 5K or 10K, typically. Post-race you'll get a bottled water, bottled Powerade, and a little box of snack items plus a banana.

They have all the things on course that others have mentioned. :thumbsup2

I always opt to bring my own Gu, water and Nuun. I really can't stand Powerade and I know what works well for me, so I stick with that and use my trusty belt. :)

I bring my own gu, because once in the race is not really enough for me. Also I hate the taste of cliff shots. I think everybody is curious about the course for this year. Last year's course seemed hastily put together based on the construction at AK and HS. I would like to see something similar to the dark side course with the entirety of AK and Pandora instead of all of World Showcase, but who know what it will be in the end.

I wouldn't be upset if they decided to use the Star Wars 1/2 course they just released vs. last years course!

I also bring my own fuel as I can't do the gu type stuff so I bring honey stinger chews and Nuun. I will take Powerade if it's super hot, but prefer my own fuel.

Super excited that they are doing a Halloween party on 11/1. Now I'll get to kick off Wine & Dine week with my first Halloween party!

Yay! Sounds wonderful.
We are going to try for the Halloween Party on 10/31 but its good to know there is one 11/1 as well. So I have some options now before they go on sale. The rumor is early May, but I'll be stalking that "special event tickets" page until then.

So who is already trying to figure out ADRs since we are less than a month away from that? I haven't and I need to. Still waiting for the park hours calendar to extend to our week.

I haven' really thought about Adr's but I usually just book where I want and work parks in around that.
I love Halloween parties but don't really know that I want to drop amount they will want for tixs for 1st.

I think the only way to justify the cost of the party for us will be to not buy a park ticket for that day. So I'm thinking we have a nice little resort and pool day and then head to the park whenever they allow us to come in for the party. We'll see if I actually stick to the game plan or not???

We were actually going to do a quick family trip backing up to W&D, but decided to postpone due to oldest's football schedule and use the money for a cruise deposit for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary celebration. (But a 7 night cruise for 5 is nothing to sneeze at!) . So I'm excited I'll still get to experience the Halloween party as we haven't been before. (Darn children's football schedule!) .

I have vaguely thought of a few restaurants we want to eat at, but I haven't thought about it too much. We are staying at the Boardwalk for W&D so I want to try some new restaurants in Epcot and maybe do the new breakfast at Trattoria al Forno. I'm thinking maybe celebratory meal at Le Cellier, and I'm contemplating trying Chefs de France. I am not 100% sure though. I also need to pick a day to do Food & Wine. I like to have a day to do it besides the party because I can't try everything I want even with a day and that! Last year we did F&W after the expo. We'll see. Maybe I thought about that more than I realized! LOL!

You do have a perfect location for the new Trattoria character breakfast! And a post race steak sounds pretty great.
I think so far all we know that we want is the Mickey Backyard BBQ one night. At least two times sampling from the F&W booths...totally fine if this replaces dinners. And the new Geyser Point Bar at our hotel. I'd love to get a Be Our Guest meal in somehow as well. I think I need to do some more looking at everything!

I do most of my runcations with my BFF (poor hubby and kids!) and we like to do a few familiar favorites and then try a few new places each trip. We normally do dinner at Trattoria al Forno before a half, but I think we'll do breakfast instead. (If anything because my inner 7 year old wants to see Prince Eric! ;) ) I've never done the Backyard BBQ so would be curious to see what you think. I've thought about trying Hoop Dee Doo review one night, but we'll see. I agree that I like having a lot of Food & Wine time. My BFF is a sit down each night person so I try to get to F&W when it opens to replace lunch and snack for a while. Never enough time though! LOL! And Geyser Point! I need to hear all about that! WL is one of our favorites!

I agree with you about the course,in my opinion the old W&D course was the best half course at WDW,but the 2016 one had to be the worst, running the stretch from WWoS to AK is bad but worse was that when you got out of AK you didn't see another park until Epcot at the end of the race.If RunDisney is listening switch it to the Dark Side route, its much better!!

They are probably waiting on the feedback from that race until they make the decision.

How about the W&D 5K course? Was it all at Epcot last year (or was there a 5K last year?)? I assume they publish them online once they're released...?
