Official Wine and Dine 2017 thread

I'm seriously considering signing up for W&D17, but am hesitant about the change from a nighttime race to a morning race. Is the post-race party still fun/worth it? Also, the last time I did W&D was in 2012, and I was solo - would my husband be able to join me for the post-race party or do I need to purchase something (chEAR squad) to get him in, too?
so glad you asked this question I just found this thread right after I posted a whole new thread yikes

this is a cross post so if your on FB you might have seen this question.
would love to hear from people who have ran this race before, I am hemming and hawwing over registering because I am not hearing such good things, so looking for opinions/thoughts/ etc.
I was going solo but i think i found a friend willing to come with me for the weekend, she's not a runner she will just keep me company on the park days etc.
TIA
Danielle

We like the race and the timing during the F&W festival. (This will be our 5th year)

I agree the course needs some tweaking and I'd love for it to go back to a night race, but even without, it's a fun time.

If you have no basis of comparison, you'll enjoy the race.

A diplomatic answer :)

Thank you, I have done PHM 2015 and the TOT 2012 so how would it compare to the PHM? I know running through MK is not happening for the W&D but will I be running though some park? and will there still be char. along the way

We don't know what the course will be, but it's safe to assume it will include at least one park. Yes, there will be characters - which and how many, nobody can say, but for sure, there are alwyas characters on the rD courses. Since you've done PHM and TOT you already know that there will be a fair amount of highway miles - there just has to be to get around WDW. I think a lot of folks dislike that aspect, but there's no way around it. But I think most of the negativity about last year's W&D stems from the switch to morning race and the lack of Osborne Lights. The O Lights can't be helped: they're gone, regardless of what time of day the race is run. I miss them terribly, but it is what it is. The switch from night to morning race... I wasn't planning to run W&D anymore because I'm not a fan of the night race, so this was a good switch for me. I thought Disney could have done some things differently, but I enjoyed the course last year enough to come back for another run!

Can someone clarify something for me? Is the after race nighttime party included? Who is it included for? My friends are doing the 1/2 and I've signed up for the 10k. Do i need a ticket? And if I do need a ticket, how do I get one.

The party is for anyone who buys a ticket. One ticket admission is included when someone registers for the half marathon (either solo or as part of the challenge).

Since you are registered for the 10K, if you want to attend the party with your friends, you would need to purchase a ticket. You should be able to purchase a ticket through the rD Wine & Dine website.

Thank you so much!!!!!!!! I think you swayed me even more, I can feel myself regretting the decision if I do not try at least 1 more Disney Run

i'm hoping to reg. today for the W&D, with the ticket price increase staying at the POP is 40.00 bucks more then ASMovies, i know that's not a lot but I am going with a friend that doesn't run and we are both trying to keep on a decent budget (hahaha yeah right, its disney) anyway, what hotel would you prefer to stay in?
I've stayed in both, but honestly haven't staying in ASMovies since my kids were 4,3, and 18 months, and they are teenagers now
