Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

Magic Bands shipped today! Nice email to wake up to along with my countdown app telling me it's 30 days til the half, ack.

Very interesting, but it doesn't seem to be a template (i.e. not something you use just to install the RaceDots). Rather, it appears that the silicone thing stays with you (under your shirt against your skin). I'm not sure I would like that.

The way I looked at it, it seemed like you use it to slip the Race Dot backs under the shirt and hold them in place while you install the top dots. Then you pop the template off of the backs, which are now held in place by the top magnets. I will probably try to keep the template on while I put the shirt on to prevent the dreaded "fold over" with the magnets sticking to themselves during the shirt donning process and then pop it loose and slip it out from under the shirt. That's my theory, at least. I'll test it out when I get it in a week or so and let everyone know how it goes. Here's hoping...

That's what I thought too.I think it's a good option for putting the dots on WHILE you're actually wearing the shirt (which, like I said, normally doesn't work for me). Definitely interested to hear how it goes.

After watching the videos, I think the RaceDot backs actually go inside the silicone, so I don't think you will be able to pull off the silicone after putting the top dots on. Will be interested to hear about your test when you receive it.

Yeah, the backs go into the silicone thing, silicone thing goes under shirt. Put bib on shirt, start putting front of magnets on bib.

Glad there's a help video, I think I understand it but I also think video instruction is a good thing! :rotfl2: And glad @camaker is playing guinea pig for us. :flower3:

Hmmm... Now I'm thinking I wish I'd seen the video first. As designed, I'm pretty sure you're right @opusone, the template won't be removable once it's on. However, all is not lost! I think it could be modified by removing the "tops" of the back ring holders, leaving just enough material to hold the backs during the installation process and then allowing its removal. Even if it doesn't work, I'm only out $9.99, so no great loss.

OH. My reading comprehension is bad, I skimmed over @opusone post.

Here's how I understood it:

- Remove the backs of the dots and put them in the silicone thing - make sure the magnetized side is facing up
- Slide the silicone thing with the dots in it inside your shirt with the backs facing up.
- Put bib on front of your shirt and then apply the fronts of the race dots - the magnets are strong enough that when they match up with where the backs are, they pull the backs of the race dots out of the silicone thing
- get all fronts in place - at this point all backs should be pulled out of silicone thing and attached to their fronts
- Slide silicone thing out - voila! Bib is applied

So I don't think the silicone stays. :confused3 I didn't watch the video though. If what I said above is correct it seems a little challenging to do while actually wearing the shirt.

That's how I envisioned it working until I saw the video. All the examples in the video showed it remaining in place during the activity. The spots that hold the backs are actually like sleeves that go almost all the way around them. When they are mated up with the fronts there is actually a layer of the silicone between the front and back magnets that will prevent the template from being pulled out. That's where my modification idea comes in. If the template will hold securely enough after I trim away that silicone that is between the two magnets, I "should" be able to remove it. Fingers crossed!

Yeah, what? Who would want to run with a piece of silicone hanging on them?

Now I'm stumped.

At this point, I'm just hoping to do W&D at all. We are in Matthew's bullseye (expected sustained winds of 145mph at 2ish am), and clean up is likely going to take weeks. Hoping for even a slight eastward shift in the next few hours, every little bit helps.

To all my fellow Floridians: stay safe!!

Sending prayers to everyone in this storm's path! We have family friends in Palm Bay, FL that are hunkering down and friends all along the coast from Miami to the Outer Banks.

Stay safe! I hope you don't see too much damage.

Same goes for all who are in Matthew's path and are reading here!

I'm way over here on the west coast of FL, looking on and feeling rather helpless as Matthew descends on my state. Wishing all who are in its path well - please know that you're in our thoughts and we're standing by to help as needed!

The RunDisney site isn't loading (displaying an error) for me...hope it's a sign that they're uploading the event guide...

We just tried the lobster roll today. I was not a huge fan, but loved the carrot cake. What does everyone else think of the lobster roll?

I'm hoping this hurricane doesn't do too much damage to WDW! I'm anxiously awaiting the course maps for this race.
Obviously the most important thing is the safety of people, so I've got to keep things in perspective, but I'm honestly thinking this too. The selfish side of me is hoping that even though it's still 4 weeks out, that this storm doesn't cause such severe damage that the race is affected.

Stay safe! I'm thinking of everyone in Florida right now. Matthew is a monster.

Praying for everyone in this storms path and for a shift in the weather to pull it away from
land and people. Stay safe all of put FL friends.
