Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

Oooooh you did help me with one that I forgot - I use RaceDots for my bibs (FYI, you do get safety pins at the expo).

Thanks!! :)
I've wondered about Race Dots. I'll have to see if I order them would they deliver in time.

I pack a lot too, here's a few I can remember that are different I think
- Nesquick chocolate milks (they don't have to be refrigerated)
- Tiger balm (&/or biofreeze)
- Vaseline
- Garbage bags (in case raining)
- mylar blankets
- hair items (pony tail holders, clips, bobby pins, etc)
- ear headband (in case it's freakishly windy/cold, which it shouldn't be but just in case)
- snacks & breakfast items - a few different things in case I'm just not feeling like plan A I can eat plan B
- Compression leg sleeves
- ace wraps (just in case something needs wrapped at some points)
-bandaids, gauze, alchole wipes, neosporine (hey you never know what can happen
Thanks! Definitely adding bandaids and neosporan. I use the Dotetra Deep Blue Rub and it's already in my "packing room".

DW hit 7 miles yesterday, with another 2 miles of walking afterwards. I did 10k tempo on Saturday, with 4 miles of hills after work today.

I always bring a couple of sets of pins to races with me; keep them in a little ziplock snack bag. That way, no worries about "did they put 4 in here?" Or, those times when the pins are a little on the dull side, and you have to force them through the shirt. Even been to a couple of races (not runDisney) where they were low on pins, and asking if anybody brought their own. I usually have 2 complete sets of clothes, and in my journal, I try to keep track of items that are good for certain distances (chafe once, usually no more at that distance) or temperatures (shirt weighs 5# after a run? Maybe not a good shirt for the heat).

I was able to run with no foot/ankle pain today! I started rolling where my foot hurt with a golf ball last Thursday after not being able to run, so either that or the extra 3 days off helped. But I'm glad it's gone, now to just keep it gone.

Here's to hoping that everyone that has healed stays that way, that those that are healing continue and that no one does anything that needs to heal before the race :)

Figured I would give you all an update - no stress fracture! There is a nasty tear though in the Peroneus Brevis/Superior Extensor which well sucks. Still pretty much going to have immobilization for the month of October & Wine & Dine is out as a serious race but after that - I should be good to go.

They're sort of a pain to put in place but once you DO get them in place, they work pretty well. :)

Have you found any tricks for putting them on? I love the concept and loved the Dots at first, but got tired of hassling with them and them sticking to themselves. I switched to an Amphipod race belt, but after it rubbed and pilled my favorite InB during the DLH I'm looking at revisiting the Race Dots.

While we always drive to WDW, when we've flown to Disneyland - we've just packed everything in the suitcase. I guess in the worst case - we would end up buying replacements at the expo from Fit2Run (where we buy our shoes at home anyway) and same goes for clothing or we could always go to a nearby mall.

We also fly in on Tuesday before the races so that should be amble time for an airline to try to fix the issue.

Amazon prime shipping too! I fly Frontier and it is cheaper to check a bag, so I do that. But I wear my shoes on the plane and put my race outfit in my tote bag. Then I just leave my gels and sprays and blah blah in the checked bag since they are easily replaced.

I am considering these too, but that makes me nervous that they are hard to get on! But, I am forever trying to get the pins correct too. I wonder if they are still easier to get it straight?

In my experience, pins are much easier to put on and get straight. However, I don't want the holes that the pins leave in my race shirts. The biggest issue that I've found with the Race Dots is that the magnets are so strong it's very difficult to install them and don the shirt without the magnets flipping around and sticking to each other.

I have to lay my shirt out on a bed and put the bib on with the dots BEFORE putting the shirt on. It's way too hard to put the shirt on first. Be very careful when moving the magnets around, they are so strong that they can pull on your shirt (I didn't realize this the first time I used them and ruined a shirt - also INB ).

There's a nub on each dot and you line that up with the hole in the bib. If you line it up just right, it'll stay put.

@FFigawi may have more input - he's the one that recommended RaceDots to me. :)

I'm with you there. I usually lay the shirt out on a bed and "install" the bib and dots that way. Where I run into difficulty is then putting the shirt on. The magnets always seem to fold the bib over on itself and stick to each other. Then it's like trying to get out of a strait jacket trying to get things back in place.

My best tip for Race Dots is to apply each one carefully from a different direction. They tend to be attracted to each other which makes moving them past each other to get to another corner of the bib tricky. Also, be very careful moving your shirt around once they are all attached. If you get them too close to each other, they might join up and you'll have to carefully pull them apart or start all over again.

Hello running experts!

I need advice! I just completed my Galloway training after running my first half 9/24. I'm just not sure what to do until W&D? I've continued to run my short 3 mile runs Tues/Thurs but not sure what to do for my long on Sun? Last weekend I only ran 3 miles but what should I do this weekend? I ask because my IT band has been acting up (but not during the half thank goodness) and I don't want to jeopardize anything. I do have a 10K next Sunday 10/16, but nothing after that until Disney. Thanks for your help!

Physical therapy has been working great on my tendonitis, but they are still not allowing me to run more than 2 miles, and thats in a brace. Tried running my 2 miles last night and only got to 1.9 and the ankle started screaming, so I had to stop. Very frustrating when you get to 10 miles and are on track then have to basically stop for a month. Had to cancel a local half marathon that wouldve been my first last weekend, and cancel the Hershey half too for next weekend. But the focus has to be on disney.

Congrats on your first half!!

I think if it were me, I'd rest that IT band this week...maybe a short run this weekend, then your 10K on 10/16.

After that I'd do a run 10-12 miles on 10/22, 6-7 miles on 10/29, then it's Wine & Dine time! (So basically mimicking the last couple of weeks of Galloway's runDisney Wine & Dine plan.)

Basically I think you just want to maintain the fitness you have from your 9/24 half. :)

I'm having foot pain too. How long do you roll with the golf ball? How often? Do you put it on the floor and roll your foot around it or do you hold the ball in your hand against your foot? Thanks! I'm desperate here!!

Thank you! I wasn't sure if I should do 10-12 miles or not, but I will! We'll be arriving at Disney 10/31 so should I just run Tuesday and Thursday my regular 3-4 miles? Thank you again! I'm new at this and just learning as I go!

It depends on what parts if your foot you are rolling. I hand roll the side of my foot where the issue is because it's the only way to do it.

For my arch I would put it on the floor so you can change the pressure more easily.
