Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

It seems the general response/feeling here by those who made it to those who did not is, "I understand, but you should have known better. How dare you complain."

I'm not making posts as someone who hasn't gone through this process before or who couldn't get a website to load. This is my 4th Disney race. Like I said, I did everything one could have done to be one of the first through. And again, I'm aware of the implications of supply and demand. There's no need for the preaching. Mostly, I'm just disappointed and venting. I was so close to completing the process and couldn't believe it stopped me when it did having already chosen my race and signed into active.com. I went from feeling hopeful, to thinking I was in, to being crushed moments after. Do I really think people outside of AP and DVC members had an effect on the outcome I experienced? No... but it feels good to blame something! Haha. And I know it's been an issue before, and there seems to be nothing in place from stopping it.

I'll be here again on Tuesday, hopefully with this weight off my shoulders and celebrating with the rest of you. I don't have any different game plan for this time around; I just hope 2 minutes will be enough time to be successful.

Understand completely!

I had many devices up, as did my girlfriend, .... I got mine in a minute and she was on hold that same minute.

This is a good vent place.

We also had already made accommodations for next Tuesday.

Last year she got in, I didn't during the early period. I got in the week after.

It will be fine for everyone who has patience next week. It will be on hold in 5 minutes... Then it's a refresh and wait game for the next hour.

Sorry, wasn't meant to be "preaching" or saying anyone should have known better, but read it as you want. I have been shut out at early registration before so get it.
Now, I am confused on the ones who say they were filling out stuff and then it threw them to ON HOLD...I thought once you logged in you had 15 minutes to finish, so that does sound frustrating.

No need to be sorry.

It was at the point where you choose between signing up yourself or someone under 18. When I chose my name, it gave me an "on hold" error claiming the registration was temporarily halted and told me to try again, all from the same page. So I tried selecting my name again only to get the same error. This happened about 5 times before it finally threw me off and sent me back to the main page where every race was listed as "On Hold". I refreshed constantly for 45 minutes watching all races except the Challenge become temporarily available again, even if for very short periods.

That's where most of my frustration comes from. I was a click away from entering my payment info thinking I had already gone far enough to complete registration without issue.

I'm confused by that too. I thought ON HOLD meant that if everyone who was in the process of registering actually completed registration and paid, that the race would be sold out...and along those lines I too thought there was the 15 minute window. Good to know for next week!

This is exactly what happened to me for the 10k! However at the same time I was trying to register for the 5k on another screen and I was successful. If i get in next week for the 10k it will be good, otherwise I am fine with the 5k and spending time in WDW with my family!

10K was probably the hardest one to get into yesterday...assuming there are 12,000 10K bibs (just guessing based on other WDW 10K races), probably 7,000 of them are taken up by challenge runners (again, guessing on the challenge amount). I've heard that early registration is something like 5-10% of the total bibs, so IF all of that is true, there were at most 500 10K bibs available yesterday. :confused3

EDIT: Also, it's an inaugural race - and people love their inaugural race bling (myself included)!

Good luck to you next week! I'm hoping to get a 10K bib too (for my husband). :)

Did anyone send an email to RunDisney after they announced the race changes and get a response? I asked them what new information became available in the week leading up to the announced changes that was not available to them when they had the race information posted on the website for over 3 months. It has been almost 2 weeks and still have not received a response. I doubt they will take the time to respond, but wondered if anyone else has received one yet.

I emailed them about deferrals a couple of days ago...no response. Their customer service is non-existent lately. :(

Halloween Party dates are out...last one is 10/31. I wonder how fast they'll turn the MK over to Christmas?

Normally it's a pretty quick change. I'll be curious to see when the party starts. Since last year it started the Sunday night after the race, but that will be when the after party is. Should be interesting to see how the changes to W&D impact the Christmas party dates. I'm not sure I'll be able to make it this year though with early race mornings and the after party Sunday night.

I'm hoping to register for the 10k Tuesday but must say these posts make me really nervous that it will be a very frustrating waste of time. I've never participated in. Run Disney event but have dreamed of it. When they added the 10k I was so hopefull because the 1/2 scares me. Good luck to all!! :)

So MVMCP takes place at the same time as the W&D party?! Geez.

The half marathon is on Sunday the 6th. The post race party is 8pm to 1am on the 6th. So the Christmas Party falls in line with last year where it started the day after the half/afterparty. It will just start on Monday, the 7th now instead of the Sunday after the race. I'm not sure if I can post the link, even though it's the offical Disney site, but it most defintielyl says the first party is 11/7, which is the day after the race, and after the after party, as per previous years.

Just go to your My Disney Experience, or the Disney site itself you can search Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and the dates show up.
