Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

AP registration question... I have an AP that expires 4/3.... can I still (attempt to) register early? We aren't renewing it so it won't be valid during the race

I'm still unsure how AP early registration will work. Do we access a link through MDE when the time comes? The AP portion of that site seems to work quite poorly.

Yes, there will be a link in the AP section to a special runDisney site that has the Active.com link there. And yes, it is definitely working quite poorly (not at all) right now.

Dreaming of running the Wine and Dine half this year...I was wondering how hard it is to register. We have DVC so we can advance register I believe but I heard thats really hard to get when it opens. So to get three people registered how crazy is it to do when normal registration opens? I ran the Tower of Terror run and had no problem registering- actually did it a few days after it opened I believe. Thanks for any advice :)

Despite bad weather the last two years and shortened course last year, I'm thinking this will still be very popular. Seems on Facebook groups everyone that just finished Princess now wants to do Wine & Dine...I'm already stressing on registration.

Three adults? Make sure each person has their own Active.com account. Using separate devices would probably be a good idea. :)

yes three adults- thats a great idea, I will set up their active accounts before hand. My mother can register for my father...which just leaves my husband and I. Is there a such thing as a personnel day for race registration?:ssst:

I apologize if this has been asked and answered, but when do you think the best arrival/departure dates are for this race? Do most people take off right after the race or not? I was tossing around arriving Thursday and leaving Mon/Tuesday.

In November when my husband and I ran this (or half of it) we arrived on Friday night. On Saturday we went to the Expo and the pool and took naps before the race that evening. Since the after-party went until 4am, we slept in until about 11:30am the next morning. It worked out perfectly though because that Sunday was the first day of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and we couldn't go into MK until 4pm. I'd recommend it to anyone. We still had time to do everything we wanted to and participate in the party! We left Monday afternoon. That worked out for us, but if I did it again I would probably fly in early Friday morning and go to the expo that day instead of right before the race!

When I went down for the Glass Slipper last weekend, I flew in Friday morning and flew out literally a few hours after the half :earseek:Would've liked to go to parks but DH couldn't come!

We have done it twice. Once we arrived Thursday and left Tuesday. Last year we arrived Friday, and left Wednesday. I prefer more time after the race as opposed to before, so I can enjoy the F&W, not worry about time on my feet and what I'm eating. ;)

As the PP noted we too went to the Expo on Saturday. I don't do a park on Saturday to save my legs/feet, so I take the whole day Saturday as "race day". We go to the Expo, have lunch, relax at the hotel hot tub, and try to nap. We don't stay at the party too long, we have been in bed by 3:00, so we can start fresh celebrating when World Showcase opens on Sunday (both times we made it a little after 11:00). We enjoy it more once we are cleaned up and have had some sleep.

I'm a annual pass holder planning on registering for Wine and Dine this year! It will be my second rundisney race after I complete the Star Wars 10K in April :)
Questions about planning....
1. Has anyone stayed at the Bonnet Creek Hilton for a marathon weekend? I've read great things about the offerings on blogs etc, and if the rates are comparable to the moderate resorts at Disney I might go this route. Other option would be POFQ. I would kill to stay on the boardwalk or at Ft. Wilderness but I don't think its in our budget.

2. I'm running with a friend who hasn't been to Disney since she was a child, and only went to MK. She really wants to drink around the world. Our plan now is to arrive Friday morning and do MK, relax Saturday before the race, and enjoy the World Showcase at the after party, return Sunday. I'm afraid she won't get the full World Showcase experience at the after party though, any thoughts?

@floridagirl01 I haven't stayed at Bonnet Creek but I did stay at POFQ for this race in 2013 and liked it a lot. :)

AS for the after-party, it might be dicey to plan on that being the entire World Showcase experience for your friend. For me, I've done this race twice and planned on going to the after-party both times...and both times I didn't make it (but that's way past my bedtime, so YMMV). Also, how much time you have there depends on your corral and how quickly you finish, so that's something to keep in mind.

For most race weekends at WDW, we do Thursday evening until Sunday after the race.

For Wine & Dine as its going to be out longer F&W Trip this year, we're coming in Thursday Evening and leaving Wednesday.

I usually fly down Friday afternoon, in time to get to the expo before it closes. Do the 5K in the morning, rest/chill out on Saturday, do the half, and close the after party. I try to go to the MVMCP on Sunday night. Last year, I slept unitl 3pm on Sunday so I didn't get the maximum value out of my party ticket, but I did sleep well. Then I leave on Monday, usually on whatever flight is cheapest that doesn't leave before dawn.

Does anyone know:

If I have a friend the is a AP, but not doing the race; can they sign me up??

Thanks
