Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

Yes, there will be a link in the AP section to a special runDisney site that has the Active.com link there. And yes, it is definitely working quite poorly (not at all) right now.

Yeah, I talked to Disney Tech Support last night, the Passholder site is definitely down. He wasn't sure what updates they were doing (possibly getting ready for pre-registration?) but I hope HOPE they get it done before Passholder registration!!

Thoughts on how the W&D compares to the PHM in terms of amount of runners? We just did the PHM, and since I didn't have a POT to submit, I was stuck in M. I certainly wasn't trying to set the world on fire with going crazy with a fast pace throughout the entire race, but I'd love to be able to run with a little less congestion as my friend and I were not able to go any faster than an average 11.5 pace throughout most of the race due to congestion. (Plus, we stopped for the bathroom and pictures.) So we wound up finishing in 2:45 or so. We plan to run a 10k over the spring to submit a good POT and get a better corral, but I was just curious as to how much more crowded W&D is over PHM? :)

Does anyone have info/advice on charity bibs for W&D? I really would love to run but just can't afford the registration right now.

Depends... first, I wouldn't be surprised to see W&D increase its cap again, so it could well be close to the same number of runners. I've run W&D the last two years, which aren't great examples, lol! 2014 was the monsoon year: I found the crowding to be minimal, but I suspect a fair number of people didn't bother to start, and I know a large number DNFd, due to the weather. So I'm not sure if it was average in terms of course congestion. And then last year the course was cut in half due to weather, which made it very congested in my experience.

I think, in general, Disney races are pretty congested: best to assume that's the norm and be happily surprised if you experience otherwise. As with other rD WDW races, W&D's course narrows significantly at certain points, which will lead to congestion and slowdowns at those spots, for sure.

I thought maybe some details such as price, 5K start time and location, etc. would be released today since early registration is next week. Do any of you RD vets have any thoughts on this?

They posted prices for the Disneyland Half 1 week in advance, so I'm sure we'll see them soon.

Lack of info for the 5K is more puzzling to me.

I too thought the info would be updated today. Even the Princess weekend for 2017 has the full schedule listed under Runner Info, while W&D still has 2015's schedule. :confused3

I noticed that for DLH and I thought maybe we get some info today. I am only doing the Half but have friends traveling with me that are interested in the 5k. I agree it is strange that there has not been anything released about the date and time for the 5k. I know you guys will be on top if it when details are released, so I will keep a close eye on the boards

Is it pretty much guaranteed that the Christmas decorations will be up for W&D? I've always wanted to go and see them, so that was one of the big draws of W&D for me.

I THINK that Wine & Dine weekend normally coincides with night 1 of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. And the Osborne Lights starting, but we know how that went...

I think expect Christmas decorations in the Magic Kingdom only, likely not anywhere else. :confused3

Its like some type of cruel taunting torture to make us want it even more!! If this wasn't my first runD event and first 1/2 marathon then I'd chill out a bit. But it is, so I can't. The room reservations are already made, I mean I HAVE TO DO THIS THING!! If I don't manage to get registered then I'm going on exercise strike and I'm going to take photos of me sitting on the couch eating gummy worms every day until Nov 5th.....WHINING and Dining (on gummy worms). I'll post them online and title each one "This is what I'm doing today, since I didn't get into the Wine&Dine 1/2 marathon"!
