Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

I landed one of the Amazon Wii's for $245.00! I also bought Wii Play for the Wii mote an a extra nunchuck. So, we have 2 of each.

Our Games are Wii Sports, Wii Play, Mario Kart with extra wheel, and Wii Guitar Hero/Aroesmith game, Dd picked a wii guitar for Band but it wasn't compatible so she had get Wii Guitar Hero instead.

We also bought Carvnel Mini Golf[this one is easier than Wii Sports Golf] and a ton of fun!!! For Dd a mild gamer and me, this is my first try at gaming! Up 4can play! It has Multi Player, and single Prize Play, where the Mii wins coins to buy clubs, balls, and much more. I just learn[before Dd] that you can Find items, too!

Mario Kart is a blast too! and very arobic! It has multi player or single prize play.

We are renting other games to see what we like. We want someing that isn't sporty. Any suggestions??

It depends on if you want very active games or is your ok with less "active" games.

Some big ones around here seem to be Carnival games, Mario Party, Rayman and Raving Rabbids to name a few.

We would like LESS active, 2 player, non sports, game! Any idea??

One that my husband and I really enjoyed was Zak and Wiki. It looks like a kid's game - the graphics are kind of cute - but it's a nice puzzle game. It's not a traditional two player game, because you are only controlling one character, but the second player can use their remote to point things out on the screen as you are trying to work out the puzzles.

We are new to Wii since Christmas and now I've purchased a wii fit tonight. Do I NEED anyting to go with it or is it good to go as is?

As long as you've got the Wii and Wii Fit (and the Balance Board, of course) you're good to go. There are other games that use the board and other accessories but nothing else you have to have. Have fun!

I would like a true 2 or more player game. Or I must sit and watch Dd play and never get a turn. I don't mind if am last all the time, just as long as I get to play!!!

We recently purchased a Wii. We also got the Play and Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz.

Hubby now wants to get GHWT or Rock Band 2 for the Wii.

I've tried doing a search on here and on google and now I'm confused. Some say only GHWT has down-loadable tunes, some say that both have down-loadable tunes.

I've read the guitar from GH is better, but that if you want to play in band format RB2 is better.

Some say that the song choices on GH are better, but others say they are very boring.

What do you think?

I think RB is better and more well-rounded, but it's definitely more about personal preference.

I highly suggest you look at the list of available songs for each game and buy the game that has the most you like.

And if you aren't planning to play as a band, don't buy either. Buy regular GH.

I can't think of too many non/less-active Wii games, let along multi-player ones.
All the mulitplayer games I can think of are really mini-game games where you do different active things with the wii-mote to win...

I wish I could be more help...

Anyone have nerf n strike? Reviews give it a 7 but say it's best in multiplayer mode. It's on sale a few places now at a more reasonable price.:)

I have so much fun with the Carnivel Mini Golf. It is a 4 player game! As you play you gain coins to buy clubs, balls, shoes, and much more. When you play by your self you go on little Quests to buy items and to find hidden items.

I find this fun. Now I need to find something simular.:confused3

I'll admit I didn't read this whole thread, but I did read the FAQ and didn't see it...but we LOVE Boom Blox. It's a puzzle type game. But you also get to throw baseballs at blocks and things like that. There's a cooperative mode where two people can try to accomplish a certain mission. It's tons of fun!

Boom Blox is awesome! :thumbsup2 My inlaws visited recently and my 'never picked up a game controller in his life' FIL actually went out and bought a Wii when they got home because he enjoyed it so much. Everyone who's played it at our house from 5-60 has enjoyed this game. My MIL managed to snag a Wii Fit also; we've brought them over to the dark side. :rotfl:

We just bought Active Life Outdoor Challenge this weekend and I'm looking forward to trying it out tomorrow. All the reviews on Amazon says it makes you sweat!

Thanks for answering my question about RB and Guitar Hero. Hubby ended up getting Rock Bank (not RB2). We'll use it more when we have friend's over, so we wanted a band set up not just guitar. Also RB was over $100 cheaper than GH.

My question now is...
we can only get 8 songs:
Mississippi Queen
Blitzkreig Bop
Wanted Dead or Alive
Should I stay or should I go
In Boom
Say it ain't so
I think I'm paranoid

How do we access the others?

We don't have RB, we have GHIII but I'm guessing you have to play it some and unlock the songs.

You have to play the world tour mode to unlock them.(this can be done alone or as a band.)

We've been renting from Blockbuster prior to buying. Not so budget friendly, but we were finding we only liked 1/2 the games we bought.

So far we all love Mario Kart, which seems to be a hit across the board here. My husband and I have also gotten a bit addicted to Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2009. We rented it and then bought it because we both liked it that much. In it you get sponsors and earn money and trophies as well. You then get to purchase clothing, accessories, equipment from the Pro Shop. On Friday we also bought the Rabbids 2 game- I'm so-so on this one. My sister rented it and said they had a blast w/ it. We are on the fence w/ how much we like it though.

You play to unlock songs. And remember you can still get the game-only RB2. That's what we did because we got RB the first day it came out.
BTW, I saw RB for Xbox on clearance at my Target for $60.xx Maybe someone's store has Wii ones leftover at that great deal.

Thanks everyone we managed to get some more songs unlocked.

Hubby bought the Wii on Thursday and we set it up on Friday. We played on Friday night and Saturday night with friends.

We bought Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz and Mario and Sonic Beijing Olympics both of which we had a blast playing on Friday night. Apparently we all like the multi player games.

Saturday night we set up rock band have we have never laughed so much. We are horrific singers. We will eventually buy the RB2 game only and probably a 2nd guitar.

Are any of the platform games multi player or are they all single player?
