Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

My Sims Kingdom (rec'd thru gamefly yesterday) is a big hit with DS13 and DH44! We can't get DH off the Wii for DS to play!

I'm debating between 2 games for our Wii - Active Life Outdoor Challenge or Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 2. I've been doing a rewards program for buying Weight Watchers products and I have enough points to get one of these 2 games. I looks like both of them get good reviews. Just a little information about who will be using it - we have 2 DD (ages 12 and almost 11) and DS 6.5. The 2 youngest play the Wii the most. I also wouldn't mind something that is enjoyable and gets me moving too! We do have the Wii Fit and I also have the My Fitness Coach that I use.

Thanks for any opinions!

Well, DDR is about rhythm and 'dancing' while Active Life is more about outdoor exercise games. If you have an arcade any where near you, you should find DDR to test out--just be aware that the Wii version is probably easier than the arcade version.

I lean towards recommending DDR for your family as I think Active Life has a shorter replay value--DDR is more fun bc of the music.

Too huge a thread to search, hope you can help!

We have a Wii and have Guitar Hero and like it (family is me, DH, dds 11 and 9 and ds 6 who esp loves it). Want to go get either Rock Band or Guitar Hero World Tour so more of us can play at once.

Which do you recommend?

Which do you recommend?

It depends. I know, that's a big help! But I have both (for the 360, but the games are just about the same as the Wii version) and I greatly prefer Rock Band. GHWT isn't bad, and I do like it, but not as much as RB. However, GHWT has the feature where you can design your own music and Rock Band doesn't. If that is important to you then you might like GHWT better.

My suggestion would be to read the track list of each game and see which one has more songs that you like, because the songs are the most important aspect.

Does anyone have My Sims Kingdom for the Wii?

I am curious if it has a free play mode or only the adventure mode. When I read about the game it only mentions the adventure aspect and my 10 yr. old DD would be more interesting in free play.

Thanks!

When does Disney Dance Dance Revolution come out? Any word on how it is? This would definately be the DDR that I would buy.

For a Wii 4 Player game that is fun for adults and kids and Adults,
is Carnival Mini Golf!! Even Newbies to Wii will have a blast playing!!
You create your mii's and and start playing!! Each land has 3 holes
to play. One hole in one shot, one with side games, one just for fun.

When a ball is shot into the hole confetti blows up. Each Mii has
their own celebration[too, cute]plus new clubs offer new their own
celebration!! New balls have there own play!

There is the option to play by yourself in the Prize Play!!
You can unlock other lands! And use your coins to buy
things in the Pro shop!!

I have turned 2 friends into Mini Golfers they went and bought
their own Carnival Mini Golf!!

If that is all it takes.... I'll take Wii Sports Resorts (to go please)!

yeah, I know. I've already got a wiialert and amazon notification set for it....

LOL

Can't wait for this one myself....I just want the motion plus!!!

The new Tiger Wood will use the motion plus, so finally it will actually feel like swinging a real golf club!

Not to mentiont he wave race style game on Wii Sprt resort looks like fun.

Beatles for RB does not do anything for me, sorry.

Is there a list of the games coming out that the new motion sensor will be used for?

I have seen alot about the EA Sports Active or whatever it's called, I wonder though how good it will be w/out the balance board? I don't really want to buy the board but alot of fitness games are utilizing it. Does anyone have a fitness type game only that they are using w/out the board?

Also what would be a deal breaker to get the new DSi? The camera's don't excite me, there is no adapter to use old GBA cartridges (although I dunno how many we have since we traded all or most in) so the GH on tour won't work, noone is into online playing, so I guess we don't need it.

We have rock band and are now looking to purchase a 2nd guitar.

I tried the seach function because I know this was covered earlier in the 212 pages, but it's not working.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a 2nd guitar?

We got The Rockster from Target. About $40. We got that one because it's compatible with both GH and RB, both of which we have, although GH appears to be messed up since we sswitched to the widescreen tv. We have re-calibrated numerous times to no avail.:headache:

Target has Wii games B2G1 free this week on most $49.99 games and under if you're thinking about purchasing games anytime soon. :thumbsup2

Hi,

I've noticed recently that the Wii disk slot will turn blue and stay blue when nothing is in it and no one has used it for several days. Is this a problem? How do I stop it from doing it?

It means you have updates available to download. Without looking at my wii settings, I'm not positive how you change that, but you should be able to find it in the settings menu. Someone will come along with more detailed instructions.

Thanks. That makes me feel better. I was worried it might be like the red ring of death like on an X-box. We've only had the wii since Christmas.
