Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

Here you go from IGN:

Star Coin 2: About halfway through the stage, you'll spot a red switch that creates two blocks nearby. Either use the blocks or simply wall jump to the next level and continue upwards. After getting above the next fire rod, go to the left to find the Star Coin.

So you didn't accidentally jump off the wall--that's what you are supposed to do! Do you know how to wall jump?

lol, there are 120 stars total--some of which are very hard to get. But you only need about 50 or 60 to actually beat the game. So--it can go on forever. I remember it took DH like a year to finish Mario 64 (also had 120 stars), but he took his time with it. I'll ask how many hours DH has played. I know he had 98 stars the last I saw.

Oh wow...it's been a long time since I played that game.

Go here www.gamefaqs.com and search for the game and then click on one of the faq/walkthoughs...I'll try and find the answer for you.

Oh, crap. I'm in trouble :)

Yes I am a HUGE Zelda lover and proud to be 1! :thumbsup2 Anyways, no game, no matter what game it is, is a necessary purchase, yes not even Zelda. :scared1: OMG, I know!! :rotfl: Im just letting the other poster know that if they dont like the wii zapper, they can still play the game without the wii zapper. Me, when DH finally unwraps it later this month, I'll give it a try and who knows, maybe I'll like it, maybe I wont. I probably in no doubt will like the game. Who knows, maybe the title is giving away something. Link's Crossbow TRAINING. That training word is getting me thinking. Hmm, perhaps the next Zelda game for the Wii will have it where you use a crossbow and this is just training you how to use it, so you are all prepared for the next Zelda game. You never know! ;)

You are biased cuz you're such a big Zelda freak (like me).:thumbsup2 But Crossbow training is not a necessary purchase for a family that already has plenty of other games to play.

Maybe you can reconsider it when you run out of things to play.

And no you don't have to use the attachment to play, but it is the only game I've heard so far where the zapper is fun to use.

If you've got an extra $20 or a gift card laying around, it isn't a BAD purchase, but you could probably find something better to put the money towards.

My kids don't enjoy Mario Party 8. Are we missing something??? What makes this game so fun?

I can't speak about playing the game because I haven't, but my kids have. They don't play it much but every now and then. We've had GameCube for several years now and have alot of games for it and they still play those old games even though we own the Wii. So maybe your kids just aren't interested in the game at the present but one day they'll play it and discover something they like about it. Or they'll have a friend over and play it and it might be more fun that way. If you just got the Wii, I'd prob give it more time b4 trading it in.

Alright everyone I have some BIG news:

Rock Band for the Wii? EA says NO (at least for now)

Rock Band Wii? EA says "no" (for now)
by Blake Snow | 01/02/2008 | 10:15:45 AM PST print comments
Despite the release of a PS2 flavor and official comments suggesting otherwise, Electronic Arts has yet to confirm Rock Band for Wii.

"We have not announced any plans for a Wii version at this time," wrote EA's Bryce Baer on Wednesday in an email to GamePro.

In April 2007, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos said "absolutely" when asked if there was a possibility of seeing the game on Wii.

"We will, at some time, bring Rock Band to every [important] platform," he said in the conference call. "I think the Wiimote is something that holds enormous promise."

Rock Band is currently available for Xbox 360, PS3, and PS2. The music simulator won several game of the year awards in 2007 including "best game that involves getting off the sofa" by the Associated Press.

Most gaming sites are saying they still think the game is inevitable, but probably won't be released until Christmas. :( Bummer

Nintendo: DS to Download 'Complete Games' Via Wii
Much like the PlayStation Store, which enables PS3 owners to download PSP games, it appears that Nintendo will eventually use the Wii as a conduit to download DS games.
Posted by James Brightman on Wednesday, January 02, 2008
According to a recent article in The New York Times, Nintendo may soon be planning on better integrating the Wii and DS. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime (GameDaily BIZ's Person of the Year) told the paper that "complete games" would eventually be downloaded to the Wii and then transferred wirelessly to the DS.

Nintendo had already mentioned in the past that they would use the Wii to offer downloadable DS demos. It's unclear at the moment what sort of "complete games" would be made available or when the first offerings would launch. Some have speculated that this would be a smart way for Nintendo to begin selling GBA games through the Wii's Virtual Console.

With more than six million Wii owners in the U.S. and over 15 million DS owners, it certainly would make sense for Nintendo to think of ways to better connect the two and leverage the respective strengths of each.

The PS2 version is like impossible to find.

Like I said, most of the guys in the know say it will happen, just probably not until the end of the year.

Is there a way to download more songs for Guitar Hero III??

Is there a way to download more songs for Guitar Hero III??

Not yet, but I'm sure there will be. There's a new thing called WiiWare coming and there will be tons of downloadables then.

It's going to be a while though.

Does anyone know what the odds are of getting a wii before March? I would like to get one for my DH's birthday but I can't wait in lines every day or call stores all the time. Are wii alerts the only way to go? What do you suggest. Thanks.

Sorry if this question was already asked.

Get your local sunday paper EARLY sunday morning and see if they are in any ads such as best buy and toys r us or early sunday morning go online to the websites (bestbuy.com and toysrus.com) and look at the ad for that week online. As soon as you find out they are gonna have some in, get yourself over to whatever store and get in line. Or at least wait in your car until you start seeing people arrive. Sundays are your BEST bet. Any other day of the week, your chances of getting one is almost ZERO. About 90% of stores save the Wii's for Sundays for their ads. Its very rare going into a store and actually see a Wii in during the middle of the week. And the only stores I can think of that would do that would be Gamestop / EB Games and MAYBE Walmart.

Toysrus.com says they have wii bundles in stock. I noticed it either this morning or yesterday.. but I just checked & it is still there...
You might give it a try. Good luck
