Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

We got Boom Blox in June when we finally got a hold of a Wii. Just submitted a review to Harley. Long story short, I don't thing there should be an issue here. In many games you place a target on a block and then flick the controller forward to try and knock the block down. Some games are competitive, while others are cooperative. Vintage gamers, such as myself, may experience some Wii elbow after a few days of playing.

Wii Elbow!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Good luck and welcome to the thread! You're looking at a good time. It shouldn't be too hard to find!

CHRONO TRIGGER IS BACK!!

Many of you on this thread are new to the world of videogames, some of you are not...but let me just tell you the Square Enix has decided to bring (port with addations) one of the TOP RPG (role playing games) ever made to the Nintendo DS within the next year!

Crono Trigger is considered by the hardcore videogame crowd to be the very best (or top three at the least) roleplaying game ever made. It was made back on the super nintendo and is also one of my favorites...paled in my opinion only by SECRET OF MANA ((which one day I'll get a real follow up to and not the junk that has had the mana name on it)

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/35888.html

At this link you can see the official debut Crono Trigger Japanese trailer released just the other day.

I'll have more info as E3 arrives next week.

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

So is there a thread or willing to share where we can ask for help with games? I am not the most skilled and my oldest is stuck on Kung Fu Panda. I am sure there will be an easy way to get past it but need help. does anyone know of forums where you can get help with games?:badpc:

We have it, and have played it almost all the way through.

FYI: The control can be wonky, so that might actually be what's holding you back.

But I can take a crack at any question you might have.

Best Buy and Circuit city BOTH are rumored to have them, sans bundle, in their flyers this coming weekend.

I'll let you know later this week if they DO appear, but, if they do, ALL those stores should have stock when they open Sunday morning....

I just wish they'd bring it to the VC..obviously not gonna happen now that it's going to the DS.

If there were a reliable way to play either DS carts on the WII, or hook the DS up to my TV, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Toys R US has some games for $9.99

Shrek the Third
Petz Dogz 2
Thrillville
Golden Compass
Bratz
Counter Force

They have others for $19.99 but they're available at Amazon w/free shipping and no tax; except for Zack and Wiki, that one is worth getting at TRU if you want it.

My friend and I decided to go shop at TRU this morning while our DD's were at ice-skating camp. We got there about 15 minutes before opening, and lo and behold, there was a sign on the door that they had Wii's in stock!!! Each of us already has one, but her 2 sisters are both looking for Wii's, so we each bought one for each of her sisters. We couldn't believe they had like 10of them in the store. We thought the other 2 people waiting outside TRU for 15 minutes with us were probably looking for Wii's too, but they weren't! We got the first 2! They did have a 1 per person limit, though. Good luck everybody!

Does anyone know why some games that are 2 player compatible cannot be played with 2 players? I figured out Kung Fu Panda for my kids, and unlocked some 2 player stuff., but it cannot be set up. I set up player 1 then player 2 won't let me set up? I can do 2 player siwht the Wii Sports. Also can't do them with games downloaded(Super Mario 3-original) is 2 player as well but won't let me set more then 1? :headache:

I'm sorry. I'm just not clear on why it's not working. I haven't played either game, but here's all I can say.

Make sure you have both Wii motes on or controllers plugged in for the VC. There should be an option on the title screen for 2 players.

Try to reconnect the second remote. I've had some trouble with my remotes not connecting when I change games. Once you get in the game, hit home, go to remote connection (or something similar) at the bottom of the screen. Choose reconnect, then follow the instructions. Just close it out once all remotes are connected. Hope this helps!

I was thinking that might be the problem too. It's very likely the controller isn't synced and that it has nothing to do with the game.

If you pull out your Wii instruction manual it has very clear instructions (with pictures!) on how to do this beyond what Shay said.

Though I had to do it about 10 times last week, I can only do it by sight, not memory. :lmao: So the manual would be a good idea.

Anyone else have a Wii injury to report? My DH hurt his hip playing Wii tennis a few weeks ago. He literally could barely walk for days, and it hasn't been the same since. He finally went to the doctor today. He can't live it down. Of course I told everyone, lol.

Square Enix is VERY against the VC it seems other then new games like FF:CC the castel builder one(I don't remember the whole name right now) The fact is thatthey can make and are making $29.99-$39.99 on Ds games/remakes instead of $5.00-$10.00 on the VC...so business sense it's much wiser for them to use the ds.

as for playing ds on the wii or hooking it up to the tv....not gonna happen they did it with the cube and the gba, but honestly it didn't take off too well(thought I still have mine!)

You can get a used Ds original(non lite) used at gamestop for about $79.00 now. I highly suggest it since the ds is filled with so many great games (RPG's in particular)

Although the scuttle butt I have been hearing is we may get some info about the ds2 at E3 next week....I'll keep you all upto date on that one!((My fingers are crossed we see one...I've had my ds for 4years now I want something new!))

Only one is my buddy can't play Guitar Hero for very long right now as his wrist is starting to get carple tunnel from his combination of GH and his job making car pistons.

as for specific Wii injuries....none yet.

More Tales to come to the Wii

http://wii.ign.com/articles/886/886944p1.html

July 8, 2008 - Namco's Tales series appears to be on a collision course with one console in particular: the Wii. At a press conference held in Tokyo on Monday, Tales series manager Makoto Yoshizumi revealed that the firm is now developing a new Tales game for the Wii. The new game will be the main title for the series for fiscal 2009.

Wii isn't new to Tales, of course, with Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World having just hit the system in Japan a couple of weeks back. Unlike that sequel, though, the new game will be comparable to a Tales of Destiny or Tales of Fantasia in terms of standing. As Yoshizumi said, it will be a "mothership" title in the series.

No details were shared on the new game, as the focus of the press conference was on new Tales titles for the PSP and DS, and some non-gaming developments for the series as a whole.

THIS IS HUGE NEWS!!!!! The new tales game hasn't even hit the US yet and already they are talking about another..and this time the flagship title version!!!

For those that have never played a game in the Tales Series..it is a roleplaying game with a anime feel...it's somewhat of a cross between a turnbased game liek final fantasy and live action liek Zelda.

If you wish to wait for Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World to arrive on the wii you will undersatdn teh fullstory, however if you have some free time and a little cash I highly suggest tracking down Tales of Symphonia for the gamecube. It is a fun engrossing game and the new wii game picks up a few years after that story ends.

Perhaps one of the best thigns about this game was the ability to have 2 people play the game together! That's right a 2 player rpg. A second person could control the secondary characters in the battles...while they had no control in towns and story points(which kinda sucked) but it was a great way for my wife and I to enjoy a game together.

I'm sure I'll get more info for you at E3 next week!

The Rumor Mill is spinnign out of control as we are just a week away from E3-the Electronic Entertainment Expo. Think of it as the Videogame industries large press event where all the companies talk about their sales numbers...but also show off what is to come in the next year(summers end-feb of next year...aka the big holiday games!)

I have posted some stuff already about what I know for sure, but I thought I might post a few rumors I have been hearing/seeing....Feel free to post any you guys find around the net also.

RUMORS for E3
-Zack and Wiki 2
-Kid Icarus for WII (pit from smashbrothers in his own adventure)
-Animal Crossing Wii (just like the ds game with new stuff added)
-Capcom to show a new wii game codenamed Flock...said to be a new take on a classic capcom game((Perhaps more resident evil?))
-Square to show Final Fantasy Crystal Cronicles
*****JUST CONFIRMED AS I TYPE THIS**** Megaman9(classic side scrolling megman to be on Wiiware for 1000points($10.00) well worth every penny!!!
-Possible Nintendogs for Wii or Nintendogs 2 for ds
-Wii Music (conduct like a pro)
-New Super Mario Bros 2 for DS
-Fire Emblem Ds
-Pokemon Platinum DS
-Kirby for Wii
-New Game from retro studios(made Metroid)
-Yoshi's Island for Wii
-Pikmin 3
-Possible New Zelda(((HIGHLY UNLIKELY TO BE ANNOUNCED YET-even though it is in the works)))
-Camalot Software to announce one of the following three....Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Golden Sun 3(ds) ((Any of the three would make me very happy!))
-f-zero Wii
-Eternal Darkness 2 (I would cry tears of joy...I LOVED the original beat it about 6 times--if you havn't played it go buy it for the gamecube!)
-Mickey Mouse Platformer((think MArio Galaxy, but with Mickey))
-Maple Story Ds
-And this pesky rumor of Kingdom Hearts 3 to be ont he wii just will not go away!!!!!

I just posted Wii/ds rumors as obvously this is what this thread is about.
I'll be expanding/deleteing as the week goes along and you can bet I'll post all info from E3 after Nintendo's Press conference.(the 15th)

Thanks, i will pull them out and try it. However, the 2 controllers work with the Wii Sports. :confused3
