Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

Thanks, i will pull them out and try it. However, the 2 controllers work with the Wii Sports. :confused3

Sometimes they just have to be resynched. This past weekend, everytime we changed from Guitar Hero: Aerosmith to Mario Kart, we had to resynch the remotes. It was very annoying.

-Animal Crossing Wii (just like the ds game with new stuff added)

-Mickey Mouse Platformer((think MArio Galaxy, but with Mickey))

-And this pesky rumor of Kingdom Hearts 3 to be ont he wii just will not go away!!!!!

These are the 3 I'm most excited about. Though Nintendogs for the Wii may be a Christmas idea for DD2. It's as close to a dog as we're getting in this house.

So there was nothing about the Raving Rabbids 3 - Tv Party? When you hear something about that, please post.

The post that you pulled the info you quoted me on was simply rumors...I didn't go into the games we know for sure...Rayman Raving Rabbids 3 has been confirmed. I'm sure to hear a bunch more info next week....A few issues back Nintendo Power had a whole preview of it. You might want to try to find that article. For all known info on Rcubed.(Get it Rayman Raving Rabbids 3,...R3! I'm so clever)

Rock Band 2 will arrive on the Wii by Years end.

You will be able to buy the disc which will contain new play modes and 80songs alone(and use your RB1 gear. Or buy a whole pack with new reworked quiter drums(with metal pedal) and sunburst guitar.)

In A really weird announcment...

Nintendo's Captian Rainbow

I don't know what to say about it other then it looks very Japanese and quirky. here's the link to the info about the game and a short video clip.

Doesn't really surprise me, obviously with GH World Tour coming out in Oct, they couldn't let GH get all the holiday spending money so people will now have to choose. Of course RB has the advantage as it's already avail on the Wii.:upsidedow

Thanks for the link, we were able to get through the game. Not sure if i could otherwise :goodvibes

Now, has anyone tried the BEE Movie Game, there is not walk throughs and my kids have been playing it for a couple of days, and don't really seem to be getting it. Is there a point to this game, are there levels or do you just keep going around and around :confused3

Square Enix is VERY against the VC it seems other then new games like FF:CC the castel builder one(I don't remember the whole name right now) The fact is thatthey can make and are making $29.99-$39.99 on Ds games/remakes instead of $5.00-$10.00 on the VC...so business sense it's much wiser for them to use the ds.

as for playing ds on the wii or hooking it up to the tv....not gonna happen they did it with the cube and the gba, but honestly it didn't take off too well(thought I still have mine!)

You can get a used Ds original(non lite) used at gamestop for about $79.00 now. I highly suggest it since the ds is filled with so many great games (RPG's in particular)

Although the scuttle butt I have been hearing is we may get some info about the ds2 at E3 next week....I'll keep you all upto date on that one!((My fingers are crossed we see one...I've had my ds for 4years now I want something new!))

With the DS, it's not about price, or convenience, or even the number of great games it has....

It's about time and screen real estate.

I'm a 30 something year old guy, with a wife, and 3 kids. I have a LONG commute to and from work. The amount of time I have for gaming is limited, and ALWAYS occurs in my living room. There's no time I'm out and about when I'm sitting there looking for something to do...so portable gaming really isn't something I'm "hot" for.

Combine that with the fact I have 30 something year old vision. Staring at 2 small screens, in my lap, for anything more than 10 or 15 minutes at a pop leads to my eyes going buggy, and my head starting to hurt....and that's WITH perscription lenses, FYI. My eyes...they just cannot take the strain, Captain.

So, either I find a way to move the DS stuff to a bigger screen, in a place that's more convenient for me to access...or I don't play the DS games. I doubt Nintendo (or Square) cares....and I can live with it. But it doesn't stop me from longing for a change or a product I can find to fit my needs....unlikely or not. And when it comes to the rereleases and such, again, the VC is such a no brain platform for most of that content (and I agree....Square is one of the few companies where it might not be), when something "skips it" in favor of another platform, I'm bumming. But hey...at least I got most of my Phantasy Stars......I just wish they'd release the first one.

-Eternal Darkness 2 (I would cry tears of joy...I LOVED the original beat it about 6 times--if you havn't played it go buy it for the gamecube!)

One of my favorite GC game of all time. Heck, one of my favorite GAMES of all time. The sanity effects are just WICKED.

I still have it, and have played it on the Wii a couple times through since the Wii came out,..one of the ONLY GC games I've actually played on my Wii.

It's almost impossible to find, even used, and it goes for a pretty penny (considering it's..what...close to 6 years old??) on Ebay, I think.

I hear ya....Most of my DS playing time takes place late at night or sitting on my couch while the wife is watching something I don't want to watch on tv. Very rearely do I have any need or ability to take my ds anywhere.

Preach on Brother!

Best Buy and Circuit city BOTH are rumored to have them, sans bundle, in their flyers this coming weekend.

I'll let you know later this week if they DO appear, but, if they do, ALL those stores should have stock when they open Sunday morning....

My ds7 has been saving for a long time to buy a Wii. He's got $72 saved already. I already decided long ago that once he hits $100, I would just pay for the rest of it.

So, I'm starting to look and all I see are crazy bundle prices...$599, $355...

Is it impossible to find the $249.99 Wiis???

Found them at both Toys R Us and Sam's Club this week. They ARE out there! Just keep looking! Ask at the stores and see if they'll tell you when they have shipments coming in. That's how my husband and my neighbor both picked up Wii's.

Our Target has had Wiis for several weeks now. They seem to be there on Thursday (the day I usually go) and still on the weekend. They had four there tonight. I think they are getting much easier to find.

Nah you should be able to find one even not at the bundled price...AS a matter of fact, I do believe it's illegal for them to even REQUIRE that you MUST buy a bundle.

When I bought one for my MIL back in like march, I went to Toy R Us...they were selling it as a bundle...I told them I wanted the system only and they sold it to me.((it's a good thing too, since I worked there for many10+years-Highschool through college. Other wise I was going to call over my formaer manager and make her give it to me.))

Anyway Seeing as Nintendo doesn't make the bundles I do believe that by law the companies HAVE to sell you the system only if you ask for it that way.(i'm not 100% certain on this so you may want to do some looking)

That said I've seen them at Toys R Us and Target a few times...they don't last long, but you should be able to find one.

Just a warning. Nintendo's big press conference is tomorrow and there are already details about a bunch of new stuff on www.ign.com ...the warning is that I'm sure DH will post a ton of big posts tomorrow or even earlier so watch out. :teeth: ;)

I'll be serving jury duty while he gets to watch the conference. :(

E3 2008: Wii Remote Gets More Motion
Nintendo will reveal the MotionPlus accessory at this year's show.
http://wii.ign.com/articles/888/888837p1.html

by Craig Harris and Mark Bozon
July 14, 2008 - Players wondering if we'd ever see a true 1:1 experience on Wii need to wonder no more, as Nintendo announced today a new plug-in peripheral for the Wii remote, currently called Wii MotionPlus. Details are sparse so far, but Nintendo revealed the first snippets of information in a press release this morning. The following statement is -- in its entirety -- Nintendo's announcement of MotionPlus for Wii:

"Nintendo's upcoming Wii MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player's arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus accessory reconfirms Nintendo's commitment to making games intuitive and accessible for everyone. Nintendo will reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory and other topics Tuesday morning at its E3 media briefing."

What we don't know, however, is how exactly MotionPlus will work with nunchuk controls, as the peripheral would need some sort of pass-through in order to give 1:1 motion to titles requiring analog control. The first shot above shows a small plug in the bottom of the attachment, which looks to be covering just such port, but we'll wait on Nintendo to give the final confirmation. Will we see first-person shooters that can make use of this technology? Will LucasArts find a way to adapt the upcoming Clone Wars game to include true 1:1 lightsaber technology, or could Nintendo beat them to it with a pack-in Link's Sword Fighting game (or news of a new Zelda Wii) to showcase MotionPlus? Will some sort of future "Wii-mote 2.0" automatically include MotionPlus, removing the need for an additional add-on peripheral? We'll have to wait and see how exactly the new technology works, and all signs point to Nintendo's keynote just 24 hours from now.

**MY guess is it will come packed with the first 1:1 ration game((starwars the force unleased maybe?)) I'll know more tomorrow. Also I bet all future wiimotes will come with it packed also. Just my guesses, but well have to wait and see.

So what do you guys think of the tracks....Oh and RB2 will be fully playable with the rockband one instruments.

14. Bon Jovi Livin' on a Prayer 1980s
:yay:
That would be one I'd like to play.

But... we had decided on GH:WT, so you think now that RB/RB2 may be better because of the track listing? I'm not that into this so I have to go by what others think.

The new addition to the wiimote sounds interesting.

Doesn't NCAA football come out today??? Hmm, wonder if my costco will have any tomorrow?

The seller for me is the unreleased, new Guns n Roses track.

But the entire track list is pretty much stellar. I'll be waiting for the PS3 version (since I have the PS3 version, and LOTS of content, for Rock Band 1...not to mention the instruments), but the rumor is late October/early November.....

The Bon Jovi song, the Journey song, the Go-Go's song...that's the content my DW is really looking forward to playing/singing. :)

I don't know if I could choose between the two (RB2 and GH:WT).

GH:WT has some exclusives (Van Halen) that are pretty awesome. In addition, their "music studio" looks very interesting.

That being said...RB2 promises to have over 500 songs available by years end (between RB2 and the "importable" RB1 content). That's a pretty impressive list of content....
