Official WDW Marathon Weekend 2013 Thread

I missed it! I may sign up for goofy... I really want the 20th medal!

Better hurry, I would expect the Goofy to sell out soon. The 7-8% open spots is only about 525-600 runners. Other than a charity spot, or Ebay, it is the only way to get a 20th medal

Thats depressing! My own fault for wanting to wait until the ToT expo. I guess I'll be running he half :)

I would still try the ToT expo if I were you! I know at Princess Half expo there were about 20 open spots to the then-sold-out Disneyland Half. There are still
spots out there as well with charities and tour operators.

I am seriously tempted to upgrade to Goofy after all the fun I had at the Disneyland Half this weekend. Maybe I'm still high off my 8 minute PR and first sub 2 hour half!

If I had any confidence that my first marathon (MCM Oct 28) would go well and I will bounce back quickly, I would do it.

Go for it! You've got plenty of time after Marine Corps to get ready for Goofy.

Go for it! I am running the Chicago Marathon in October and running the Dopey (all 3 races)!at WDW in January. You totally have enough time to recover and prepare for Goofy.

I ended up signing up for goofy last night. The thought of it is crazy to me, I've only been running for about a year but it's so stress relieving for me that I don't mind long training runs.

Just finished the Disneyland 1/2 with a goal of getting the C2C medal. Now onto the Goofy another ultimate goal of mine. I will be coming to this thread more often now that the bucket list of the C2C medal is checked.

So you’re running Wine and Dine? Me too. 

Sure you can. If they got their C2C last weekend, they got it by running WDW or Princess earlier in the year. No Wine & Dine necessary.

The person said "just finished the Disneyland 1/2 with a goal of getting the C2C medal." To me, that means that's their goal. I guess I misunderstood.

Congratulations. We just got our C2C as well during the Disneyland 1/2. The clinking of wearing the two medals together was really, really cool.

My newest bucket list: full marathon. Setting my sights on 2014 for that. In the meantime, I want to run as many Disney 1/2's as money will allow.

Wish they had another type of medal for running all the Disney races possible in a year - or at least all the WDW races in a year. That would be fun to shoot for.

Off topic question, but this thread seems to have a lot of traffic...hope it's ok?

I am running a Half on Sunday, I have 3 very large blisters from my run last Sunday (and they are very large, one is almost 2"!)...so my question is, what's the best way to treat them for THIS race, should I tape 'em really tight or lube 'em up or ? I know they are going to re-bubble, but I'm hoping to minimize the pain for as long as possible.

TIA

I would try some moleskin. DD had large, painful warts that I used moleskin on so she could play her soccer games.

Go get Band Aid brand's bandaids for blisters. It comes in a silver box. A bit pricey for 8 bandages but worth it. It treats blisters so that they heal faster. I had two blisters going into the Disneyland 1/2. For three days prior, I wore these bandages. One had popped so it was raw. The blister bandage has an ointment in it. I also supplemented with a triple antibiotic over the counter cream to make sure it didn't get worse or infect.
