Eek! 98% full?!?!? I have two friends who've been thinking of joining me and one wanted to wait and see how she feels after her first 1/2 this weekend. :worried: Maybe I can nudge her to decide now. I need a traveling companion and training partner!

Are you sure about that? I don't remember seeing any. If you look here: http://www.rundisney.com/travel/disneyworld/ you'll see every race mentions a place to get specially priced tickets EXCEPT for Marathon weekend, where it just says you can buy MYW tickets.

I absolutely know they had discount tickets last year because I bought a season ticket and when I saw the discounted tickets I was mad because they were so cheap and I had already purchased mine. Someone on the boards here posted a link last year to the discount site through RunDisney.

Does anyone think the 1/2 will quickly fill when the marathon is full? I have a friend who has decided to run the Donald, but just hasn't signed up yet.

That works....

OR

Just reduce all long runs by 2 for the rest of the program. Leaves you with a final long run of 24. Not a perfect execution of the plan, but close enough. Those lost 2 miles will not break the bank in any way.

Thanks! That might work too, or just get close enough like to mile 25. I'll play around with it but for now plan to do 13-13-4-see how I feel

Think you are correct!

I am kind of shocked the half has not filled. I wonder how many half runners pushed up to the full just for the medal?

Lol....guilty!!

Hi, all!

So glad to have found this thread! I am running the 2013 WDW Marathon and so excited!!

2011 was my first half marathon (WDW Half) and since I've run 4 halves, 3 fulls and many races in between. The WDW Marathon will be SO special to me because it will be my 5th full...which I'll follow up with 13.1 at the Tinkerbell 1/2 the next weekend...WHEE!!!!

Hope to see y'all there! I am gonna read through more of this official thread now to see if any meetups/events are planned!

I just saw this web site that will give pace calculation based on race elevation. I thought is was interesting. You can customize to your goal time and how fast you run hills compared to flat. I have 2 training races coming up, one with a 3000 foot decent and the other with a 700 foot incline over miles 2-4. The site is http://tazrunning.com if anyone is interested. They have many races already mapped, including WDW. I'm sure there are some limitations, but...
Happy training!

I'll post about the feeling in January, but the newest version of the course has more out and back than any to date. The only good thing is the loop at the far end of the out.

Ahh I guess I didnt look at the course that closely and assumed (yes, I know about assuming) :goodvibes

Love the tattoo!

I am seriously tempted to upgrade to Goofy after all the fun I had at the Disneyland Half this weekend. Maybe I'm still high off my 8 minute PR and first sub 2 hour half!

If I had any confidence that my first marathon (MCM Oct 28) would go well and I will bounce back quickly, I would do it.

My sole purpose in Goofy 2015 is the anniversary medal. I feel no shame.

Unless things change, it may be my last. I find it more difficult each year to get excited about the training. Maybe if the perfectly goofy folks are given a little better recognition than we were for the 5th, then that may change. Right now there are about 150 of us.

Interesting... though I would not bank on their interpretation of hill and decline efforts versus speed compensation. I think these are based on the experience of one or few runners. If you are heavier, lighter or better/worse trained your results will vary

I am a fan of the temp tat for pace. If you go with one, make sure to apply it 30-60 minutes prior to sunscreen
