Official WDW Marathon Weekend 2013 Thread-Part 2

Just another reminder for those still flying in tomorrow- make sure you pack your race gear in your carry on. After sitting down for lunch after we arrived a the boardwalk I got a call from southwest. My garment bag fell off the luggage truck and was drug all the way to the baggage area. Everything I brought in that bag (for an 8 day trip), except for three shirts and a couple pairings of shorts was destroyed.

My early guess is probably about $1k worth of stuff, quite a few finisher shirts and jackets from marathons and ironman races, but at least I have my race gear. The rest ill figure out on Monday.

Ride space mountain 12 hours before I plan to finish the Half - check.
Watch Wishes and Celebrate the Magic - check.
Lay out race clothes - check.
Pack post race clothes in bag - check.
Charge up phone, camera and Garmin watch - check.
Set wake up call for 2:20 - check.

Time to get to bed.

Good luck to everyone running tomorrow.

Lets all have a great race!

Ted

I am a proud mom of a daughter that runs. While she is not running this weekend I will be there to support all the others runners that are. I have been using some signs that may have been seen by some people before. My favorite is

HELLO COMPLETE STRANGER
I'M PROUD OF YOU TOO!!!

Run well and have a great time! Hopefully I will see some of you on the course!

Does anyone know what the notifications are for the texts for the half?

I just got some for a friend who is running the half this morning: 5k, 10k. I think I'll also get 15k and finish.

Quick half report:

Solid start, but the humidity got to me in the second half. I felt I ran as good a race as I could. 1:23:50. I was surprised how dark some parts of the course were. Waiting to see place. Now off for my third attempt to ride rockin roller coaster.

I hope everyone is taking it safe in the heat.

To everyone who ran the half this morning, I hope your runs went well. I was listening to the music coming from Epcot from my balcony at BCV. Kinda made me wish I was out there with you. To everyone running tomorrow, good luck and stay cool and hydrated. I'm hoping to finish before it gets too warm.

Done with the half. A little disappointed with my time. My stomach was upset so I headed to a port a potty first fourth of a mile!! It was really humid too. Oh we'll, it was God's way of telling me to slow down and enjoy it and I did . At that point I decided to take pictures with the characters. Thank you so much to the WISH folks cheering us on; you don't know how much it helped. Good luck tomorrow folks...have a great run! :cool1:

Done and icing! Took it easy and certainly didn't PB. Enjoyed the race tent. Thanks for all the support.

Tomorrow is going to take 100% for me to finish. But luckily I have 100% to give!

It was very bunched up in places this morning. It seemed like the first couple of miles were really bad. We were walking at some points.

Thought Capt. Jack and Barbossa were really early this year. There looked like there were 100 people in line. I liked that they just switched sides of the road after everyone had passed the first time.

Time for a nap now and rest for tomorrow. Good luck everyone and will see some of you at the DATW on Monday.

Had a great race (well... You can't really call it a race, since I didn't run for time).

My running pace was about 12:30 - which is 75 seconds per mile slower than my PR time from November - pretty reasonable considering it was 25-30 degrees warmer and about 55% humidity higher than that race).

But, I also stopped and walked a lot to take pictures and enjoy myself.

Chip time was 3:01:10.

It's been so much fun training and chatting with all of you here on this thread!

Good job to all Half participants and good luck to all Marathon runners!

Half: done! It was definitely warm out there. Tomorrow I'm not even bothering with my light jacket for the start. I took it off in the corral, had a tank on, and was fine. Some who are chilly-prone may still want at least a long sleeve shirt for the wait.

The walk from here at OKW to the corrals this morning was awesome!!! It was so fast and easy! :)

Can someone help for tomorrows marathon. We r stating offsite at Windsor hills resort. I was planning on taking a cab over in the am. What time should I leave? I was thinking 3am. Also my family has a car and wants to meet me at the end. Will it be chaos? Will the traffic be crazy for them to come at the end of the race?

Done with the half and it was tough out there. It was everything we had been talking about: warm, humid, crowded. I hung in the back of H and we had a nice time just chillin until it was our turn to move., which took a while. Some of the course was too narrow and I ended up running on the grassy area next to the road quite a bit. Lots of water stations and potties! Woohoo! My legs are a little more sore than I would like but since we don't have anything planned for today, I'm going to continue to sit on my balcony and relax. Ahhhhh.
Just a marathon to go!

I did it!!!!!!!! It wasn't pretty and it wasn't fast, but I completed my first 13.1 and bawled like a baby!! My knee was hurting so badly after mile 6, i couldn't run anymore at all. My amazing husband stayed with me the entire time, web though he could've finished way faster!!

Like someone posted earlier, I appreciated the spectators way more than I thought i would-loved the 'I'm a stranger and I'm proud of you' and some of the others. So much fun. I didn't even need my iPod because there was always so much to see an hear!!!

Of to AK with the kids if I can walk!

Good luck to all doing the 26.2 tomorrow!!!!!!!!

Great job. It's an amazing feeling when you see that finish line. All the more when in pain.
