Official WDW Marathon Weekend 2013 Thread-Part 2

Okay, a bit of a brag, but I found out I got second in my age group. Being top 5 was my biggest goal of the weekend.

That may be my only make as my left hamstring is pretty tight. If it doesn't loosen by morning then it will be a very relaxed marathon for Peter.

That's awesome!!

Anyone else not get sticker for baggage check? Volunteer told me if you didnt have one there will be blanks at baggage check.

I hope there are. Sometime between the volunteer retrieving my bag after the Donald this morning and now, my sticker came off. Right now, I have a piece of paper in the bag with my bib number on it.

Finished my first half with my wife today. She had a knee issue so we ended up waking a good deal at the end. But we finished and finished together and had a good time. It was very crowded at the start but we made our corral without issue. It was warm but we kept hydrated. Now we get to enjoy a week long vacation! Congrats to all those done today and for all those running tomorrow enjoy!

OKW people: myself and airman are meeting at the Hospitality House corner at 4:30am and walking to the corrals. I'll be wearing a WISH lime green tank top. Feel free to tag along, we'll leave right away.

I'm staying at Pop - what time should I catch a bus? Heard it was really crowded here last year and took over an hour to get on a bus

I'll be there. I'm wearing pink cep sleeves. Where is the cornet?

I am a proud mom of a daughter that runs. While she is not running this weekend I will be there to support all the others runners that are. I have been using some signs that may have been seen by some people before. My favorite is

HELLO COMPLETE STRANGER
I'M PROUD OF YOU TOO!!!

Run well and have a great time! Hopefully I will see some of you on the course!

I saw that sign this morning!!!

I finished the half this morning 30 seconds over my goal of 2:45. But compared to the only other half we've run (The W&D), my Runkeeper said we ran .12 miles more but were 5 minutes faster! So I guess that's good! My Runkeeper said we ran 13.48 miles! That's quite a bit more than a 13.1. And I know that at mile 8 we were discussing with random people how all of our watches/apps were saying that we were .21 over what the mile markers were saying.

But my knee is killing me again. It feels just like it did when I ran the 16 miles. Like nothing in PT helped at all. I'm still not sure I really belive its ITBand...I mean I'm not a doctor but I can foam roll my ITband and not feel even the slightest bit of pain. And when they say they're stretching my ITband at PT, I don't feel any pain either. But the pain in my knee feels like it bone. Right at the side of the knee, where it bends. If that really is ITband, then they've got to show me other ways to help it. I'm walking with a limp and have a 5k at Universal next weekend.

On the good side, I thought today's race went well. For some reason, this was the least crowded for us. We were in corral C. Usually, I have to walk for the first little bit just because there are so many people in front of us going slow. But today it cleared up right at the beginning. Some of the roads were narrower but nothing like going from DHS to Epcot.

I had the craziest dream last night after the half. I dreamt i had signed up to do another race today and it's a marathon! That's craziness. Well I cant go back to sleep so i think I'll go for a long run.

Good luck everyone. Nice and easy.

Well I finished my first half marathon in 3:14:03 which I am very happy with since it is my first race. My buddy just rounded mile 12 on the marathon course and all I can think about is running another race now. It is a great feeling (even the soreness today) Thanks for posting your success stories as it gives newbies like myself the hope we need to push forward.

Now if only I can get back home... Stuck on the tarmac at a different airport because our flight was diverted!

Woke up today thinking about the marathoners. Hope they're all having a good run. Can't wait to hear about the experience and what Disney did at Mile 20 to celebrate.

Thinking of all the marathoners today!! I woke up at 3am when I heard the monorail start running!
I finished the half yesterday and could not believe it - my first race ever!! I ran pretty well - 2:26 and I had wanted to make it by 2:30 so that is good for me! It was really crowded the first 3 miles I thought - I was in corral E. I didn't want to expend too much energy darting through so I jut ran with the crowd which was slower than I wanted o run.
Funny the post above mentioning the distance! My runtastic app said it was 13.5 as well! I thought maybe it was a fluke as I started it slightly before I crossed the start and slightly after I crossed the finish.

Good luck to the marathoners!! Hope you all finish strong!!
