** OFFICIAL Survivor: Cook Islands Thread ** ‘Survivor’s’ new racial divide

I really like it, much more interesting then the previous years. I love the diversity in the cast.

I always think the first few episodes are boring, until you get to know who's your favorite characters, and start to see how the tribes really interact with each other.

I actually found this premiere to be a little more interesting than some past ones. And I think that ship-like set for the tribal councils is the most memorable one so far.

Did the two ladies who became fast friends on the African American tribe look like long lost twins to anyone else? And before anyone rips into me :duck:, in every other season it has been the young white guys with dark hair who it takes me several episodes to distinquish from one another (if indeed they make it far enough for me to learn to distinguish them apart).

From the CBS Survivor pages-

I was so happy chicken man got sent to Exile Island I didn't like him.

I love Ozzy.

I like the Asian tribe the best, Cao Boi cracked me up and that one young guy was easy on the eyes. ;)

I was very happy to see the girls stick together and vote the lazy guy out. The girls on these shows never stick together, it's about time, yay girls! :thumbsup2

I'm hoping that the white people lose next week and chicken man goes home. So far they're my least favorite tribe.

Right out of the box, I already do NOT like Jonathan. He just comes across as a pompous donkey.

Seems like this season has a lot of STRONG players, including the females. Should be interesting.

I can't believe I forgot to set the vcr. Yes vcr they still exist.;)

Marie!!!!! How wonderful!!! Thank you!!!!!

Course the dirty house doesn't thank you but what the heck!! :teeth:

Maybe someone has already posted this, but I just read the contestant bios on the CBS site. I find it interesting that:

1) Adam appeared on "The Grind" on MTV in 1999 and lives in California.

2) Billy is a musician in the band Forsakken, and also a professional wrestler named "Spanish Fly".

3) Brad is the director of men's merchandising for Lucky Brand Jeans and lives in California.

4) Christina (who is a police officer in California), has been a consultant on some J Lo movie, has been on E!, has been on the Discovery Health Channel, MTV's Y2K ball, and various other videos/tv shows.

5) Jessica is a performance artist/roller derby person/member of "Hustlers" (?) living in California.

6) Jonathan lives in California, has been on a bunch of TV shows (including "The Nanny", "CSI", and "Seinfeld"), and has also been nominated for several awards, including an Oscar.

7) J.P. occasionally models and lives in California.

8) Nathan is a musician who lives in California.

9) Parvati lives in California.

10) Rebecca is an Emmy-winning make-up artist on "The View", where she does the make-up for previous "Survivor" contestant, Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

11) Sekou is a professional jazz musician who lives in California.

12) Sundra is an actress (been on "CSI: Miami", "Sex in the City", commercials, etc.) who lives in California.

13) Yul lives in California.

It seems like maybe the producers went all out this season to find some people who can act, or else they just "happened" to end up with some contestants are hoping to use "Survivor" as a career stepping stone. I hope the days of "average-joe" contestants is not over.

Krista, DW Lauri and I noticed when the contestants (I almost typed "cast") were announced that a large number of them are from California.

I did read that the producers did more active recruiting this season rather than rely on applications, due to the low number of applications from minorities. That's probably why there are so many from CA.

Very good show. It goes to show that no matter how they're split up it still becomes a gender and alpha male fight to the finish. I'm glad the guy who left is gone, he was rattling my nerves. Hasn't he EVER watched the show before? The first person to put themselves up as the know it all is ALWAYS the first to leave!

I like Cao Boi, what a character! The others I have to find out later.

I agree on both.

Hi Steve,

I thought it was boring too.

I always think the first couple are boring because we don't know the charcaters yet.
