Was anyone else really disturbed watching them kill the octapus tonight? Also during the preview for next week they show Cai Boi up the tree getting baby birds out of the nest. Why do we need to watch this? My DD is 10 and was really disturbed about the birds. She started to cry and said she will no longer watch Survivor. Why on earth do they need to show this? If this idiot killed baby birds, keep it on the island and off my tv. I am thinking of writing to CBS about this. I have never been one of those rah rah lets go start a campaign kind of person, but hurting animals really disturbs me.

I think they killed the ocotpus to eat it. Nothing wrong with that IMO.

We haven't seen the entire scene around the baby birds. I will wait until next week to see what I think, but it does look bad.

Yah I understand why they killed it, but really hate seeing them kill it. If they just showed it dead afterwards that is one thing - but its just so gross to watch.

I agree with you regarding the baby birds at least at this point because they are not starving yet and they would not be good food for survival. Part of my thinks he went looking for eggs to cook but they had just hatched or were on the verge. The octopus I really didn't have a problem with. This is Survivor and they are hungry and that octopus looked like a good meal for the large group. They were plucking a chicken they killed in the first episode I think. Survivor has always had the hunting/fishing for food as an aspect for as many seasons as I can remember Examples: Tom and his shark, Guy in Australia and the boar... Richard and his naked fish catching butt etc etc.

The octopus scene did not bother me. They need to be careful. Large octopus like the one they caught do not have strong venom but some smaller octopi have deadly bites. When the octopus was clinging to Nate, I was wondering if he was in any danger.

Last night he didn't. I was wondering if they voted Becky off last night, would he have used it to save her because he said he would. That would have sucked being so early in the game.

I think it would have been interesting. Rumors state that once the idol is used it gets hidden again for other visotors to exile to try and find. That might be very interesting for it to show up twice in a game.

Yawn. I still am a dedicated watcher of "Survivor", but I'm so ready for them to do something different setting-wise. Go back to Africa. Go into the mountains/wildnerness. Something . I love tropical places, but I'm so bored with the fishing, the beaches, the bathing suits, the water competitions, etc. Every season looks the same to me now, only with different faces. And the race thing wasn't enough to make this season very distinguishable from the last several.

I think I read somewhere years ago that they will never choose a place like Africa again. I don't remember why, just that it was difficult for everyone involved, no just the Survivors.

So another lame show? I came on looking for some spoilers so I don't have to watch it. I watch the show through you guys now. I tape it and save it just in case you guys say something good happened. The only thing so far this season that I've gone back for was the whole "love at first sight thing".

ETA: I do think they need a change of scenery. The mountains maybe--somewhere cold. They should be able to find something different.
