So I'm been working on my Disney Plans.. and my park plans.
And I'm happy with all of them, except for my day at Hollywood Studios for Star Wars weekend! lol We are going the first friday.

So far my plan looks like this...

Take taxi to the park, and be there for 7am.
Upon opening, take the kids over to Indiana Jones to sign up for JTA while mom goes to grab Fast Passes for Toy Story Mania.

Yah, that's it.. LOL
We have an ADR for 11am at H&V.

I feel like I almost can't plan this day. I have notes on what times all the shows are at, where characters meet, etc etc. But I feel like I should let my boys lead me and tell me what they want to do. Especially since we've never been for SWW.

I'm not worried about lines for ToT or RNRC since we won't be doing those anyway. And I will have another park day at HS.

So will I regret not having a bit more of a plan?

I think it is a good idea to have another day at HS. Then you can do what you couldn't on SW day

On our second day (3 days later) at HS, I won't be arriving for Rope Drop, which is why I'm planning on the JTA on the SWW day that we are there.
My boys got rained out on the last trip (their first and only trip). We had spots and jedi robes on and everything and it DOWNPOURED. So our slot was cancelled So fingers crossed things work better this time for us.

This is my first post on Disboards and I will be making my first trip to WDW on May 11! I hope I'm doing this right...

We will only be able to attend SWW on opening day, May 17, because we are leaving on the 18th. My sons really want to do JTA more than anything else the whole week. My question is, should we rely on the Disney transportation system to get us there early enough Friday morning (we are staying at Wilderness Lodge) or should we get a cab that morning?

JTA during a non SWW day is less hectic to sign up for, there's something cool about doing it during SWW, the SW music pumping all around, the atmosphere, the people dressed up, but still it's up to you.
As for not having a plan after signing up for JTA the only thing is that if you decide to do characters you need to do them in a certain order, the biggest issue here is the SUN and the HEAT
The Disney SW characters (Jedi Mickey, Princess Leia Minnie, Stormtrooper Donald and Darth Goofy) are by the exit to GMR, in the sun, all day. They do provide some umbrellas along the line but it can get very long, not to mention the characters rotating...
Another one outside is Chewbacca's line, even though it does get more shade, this line is another extremely long one, since Chewie needs to go rehydrate very frequently.
Darth Vader's line is also long but it's under roof, so the sun won't affect it much.
Just make sure you know what characters you want to meet and try to make a plan for meeting them

I'm local so I just drive to the park, I know some here have taken WDW transportation and have arrived before park opening, just check when you arrive at what time the first bus to DHS is. The park is schedule to open at 8am but when there's a lot of people waiting to go in, management opens the park earlier (as early as 7:30am) so make sure that the bus will get you to DHS by 7:30am

The line for the droids might get long but since it's indoors, in the merchandise tent, it's way better... the merchandise tent also serves as rain day location , I'll make sure to ask about all the rain locations for characters, I don't think all of them have a rain location. Maybe Kenny the Pirate site had some info on that

The line for the droids might get long but since it's indoors, in the merchandise tent, it's way better... the merchandise tent also serves as rain day location , I'll make sure to ask about all the rain locations for characters, I don't think all of them have a rain location. Maybe Kenny the Pirate site had some info on that

JTA during a non SWW day is less hectic to sign up for, there's something cool about doing it during SWW, the SW music pumping all around, the atmosphere, the people dressed up, but still it's up to you.
As for not having a plan after signing up for JTA the only thing is that if you decide to do characters you need to do them in a certain order, the biggest issue here is the SUN and the HEAT
The Disney SW characters (Jedi Mickey, Princess Leia Minnie, Stormtrooper Donald and Darth Goofy) are by the exit to GMR, in the sun, all day. They do provide some umbrellas along the line but it can get very long, not to mention the characters rotating...
Another one outside is Chewbacca's line, even though it does get more shade, this line is another extremely long one, since Chewie needs to go rehydrate very frequently.
Darth Vader's line is also long but it's under roof, so the sun won't affect it much.
Just make sure you know what characters you want to meet and try to make a plan for meeting them
I always say: Disney SW characters first, followed by Chewbacca and then Darth Vader

Great information! Yes, I'm thinking out first day will be a total Star Wars day, which is why I'd like to be able to sign them up for JTA. But we will see what happens.

I know my boys REALLY want to see Rex and Cody. Those are their favourites... where as Darth Vader.. not so much lol So where are Rex and Cody hiding?? ANd what is the sun like there?

Does this mean if it's really rainy out that all the character M&G move to the tent?? Speaking of the merchandise tent... this is the same as the "Darth Mall" right? And where exactly is the tent located?
