For all those traveling or about too, have a safe and magical trip!!!! :wizard:

It was hard to leave 70 plus degree weather for in the teens and snow yesterday. The lines for the rides were not bad at all.
SOG was nice , clean, and we had no problems at all. The trip was too short.

Thanks, I am in official meltdown mode!
Way too ADHD/ocd to wait for monday to get things to pack. I have been to like 16 stores the past two days going over and over my three page packing list for a silly week long vacation. Yes I can laugh at myself about it, but I won't sleep tonight either while I'm working on the washing the new socks and underwear!:rotfl:

Just wanted to add my SOG experience! We stayed there in January (2008 ) and loved it! We usually stay in a Disney hotel, but we'll be staying at SOG from now on. I completely agree with everyone who said that people seem friendlier there (staff AND guests), and it was so nice to go back to a calm, friendly hotel after a busy day in the parks. We only encountered one grumpy employee, and he was at the ticket desk. I was so excited to be getting my tickets that I didn't even care

There were 5 adults and 1 child (16 months) in our party, and we stayed in one of the Jr. Suites. It was huge, and having 2 bathrooms was AWESOME. The master bathroom has 2 separate sections: 1 with the toilet and shower and 1 with the sinks, so my husband and I were both able to get ready at the same time.

We were in the new section, and the view of the beautiful, well-kept grounds from our huge balcony was gorgeous. We could even see some of the MK fireworks from the balcony. We also saw 3 alligators, several large pretty birds and several groups of wild turkeys from our balcony! Who needs Animal Kingdom Lodge?!

Being able to walk to the monorail was a HUGE plus, especially since we had a young toddler with us and we never knew when we'd have to head back to the hotel quickly with a stroller (what a pain to haul a stroller on a bus! )

We ate at Evergreens, Garden Gallery and got room service several times. Room service was slow at times, but we tended to call really late. The food was ok at all of them. We actually liked Garden Gallery the best even though most of our party aren't buffet fans. We went on Seafood night and I could have eaten the entire pot of the crab soup (or maybe I *did?!*)!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. While it is lacking some of that Disney magic, the calm, friendly atmosphere more than made up for it. We are heading to the world again in January, 2010 and will be making our reservations as soon as we can! I can't wait to go back! :woohoo:

Did everyone get the email about 25% room discounts during Jan?
I called this morning and booked, got $86 a night! :goodvibes
Now I'm just praying for a cancellation. They only had 3 of our 5 days available, and Disney has nothing under a deluxe for those days.
But it was cool, when I made the reservation, I asked about staying in the same section as out trip in march. He looked at the computer said "I see here you were in room 305. Would you like the same room? :rotfl: That is detail oriented!

I got the email too. It's a fantastic deal. Unfortunately, we can't travel in January. It's only been winter for 2 days officially, but already I've had enough. Wish we could escape to SoG. Have a terrific time! :goodvibes

We got the email too and I noticed the days blocked out were the marathon days! Last year when we decided to stay over the marathon weekend, we got a room just the week before! Good luck!

Did you have to get the email to get the deal???? DO you have to call them or can you book on line and get the special???? Thanks

Okay I got the email it was in my junk folder. I also noticed the dates are not good for us. We are arriving on Jan. 26th.

Trying to figure out if we should use the self parking garage or valet parking.
Looked on page 1 and noticed the self parking was $5 and the valet $10/day for EACH DAY USED. Does this mean that if you park the first day and only use SOG transportation you are only charged $10. Maybe I am reading this all wrong, but it specifically stated each day used?? Hope someone can help me out there. Thanks

We used valet last January. They park the car in a separate area. You are charged each day for the service unless you get the car and park it in the garage yourself and tell them not to bill you. We found it to be convenient since we were in and out several times a day. It was well worth it for us.

I'm so excited. I originally booked my May trip through AAA b/c of the 4/3 deal. I booked POR, which I love but I've come to prefer SoG due to the size and the feeling that you are staying at a deluxe resort.

Well on a whim I decided to price out staying at SoG and buying my tickets there. Including parking it only came out $100 more! I'll be changing my ressie today!

Congrats. We love SOG too. SOG does have that deluxe feel. ;)

Anyone know if the Seafood Buffet at SOG is still served on Friday night? It was this past summer, but I don't know if the nights have changed since then.

After staying at SOG many times (before and after renovations), I booked a room at a Value Resort for this past Mousefest. For my entire stay at the Value (yes, I had always wanted to try a "Disney Resort"), all I did was compare it to SOG. It made me realize how much I really enjoy SOG. I will probably never book outside SOG again. I am already looking forward to SOG in August with friends and in December with my DH.
