Official Poly construction update thread **updated video page 103(2/17/15)**

Bungalows are going up. With how tall the roof pieces look (not on yet) it looks the the views will be affected all the way to the lounge of the Hawaii longhouse. I don't know that any first floor room will see the castle after they are done.

NO!:sad1: I think I'd better figure out who to call and see about my room rate I'm paying for April. Do you think I should call IPO? Someone mentioned calling Poly directly and speaking with a manager. I don't want to post what we're paying for this view, but you can figure it out -- Easter week CL TPV....

Is there still sand outside of the rooms nearest the lounge?

Good news or not, thank you for posting current info and keeping us up-to-date.

If you call IPO you will talk to someone at the Polynesian. If you call any other number you will not be speaking to anyone at the resort (as much as people believe they are being transferred to the resort).

The IPO number is the only way to call the Polynesian directly and you can only call the number if you have a current reservation in club level.

They have all the ground floor rooms in Hawaii as a garden view category right now so if you want a TPV you will have to be 3rd floor or maybe 2nd floor. There is a beach in front of Hawaii that is mostly open.

I have been posting photos from today on my Facebook.

So it is possible that for our May trip (GVCL) that we may be facing the lagoon?

thanks

Great info, thanks. I have your facebook page bookmarked so I'll keep checking that for current view pics. I'll just give IPO another call -- I just spoke with them last week to reserve a cabana and put in my request for 1st floor room near lounge. We would probably still be OK with this room, but not at the price we are paying.....

Are the bungalows supposed to be DVC only or will these be another room classification (like a suite)?

WDW Magic is reporting that Captain Cook's will close on March 28 and reopen sometime in the summer.

A temporary location will operate in its place with operating hours of 6:30 am-4:30 am.

Much of the same offerings are expected to be offered at the temporary location except no Dole Whip machine.

DVC grand villas

They can't seriously ALL be Grand Villas, right? Aren't there like 20 bungalows going in? Last I heard they were having trouble just consistently filling the few at BLT and other locations, it seems silly to add so many units to a category with the least demand. Idk, maybe demand has increased since I last heard or something. I personally think it'd be cool if they could design the Grand Villas to be able to split into lock-off 1 and 2 Bedroom units, like some of the 2 Bedrooms split into Studios and 1-Bedrooms. Would be a good way to make use of the Grands when bookings for them are low.

Is there any update of when the monorail work will be completed? Currently going first week of April! TIA!

I called Poly IPO as we're staying CL in April. We have a TPV room booked and obviously I'm concerned about the view. Here's what she said:

> A few rooms closest to the lounge on the 1st floor are still considered TPV.

> The 2nd floor rooms are now lagoon view. She didn't mention if any were garden view and I didn't ask.

> The 3rd floor rooms closest to lounge are still TPV. She said some were downgraded to lagoon view.

As I know things could change as construction moves along, I'm going to call back in early April....

The great thing for you, assuming this is true, is that it guarantees you'll have either a patio or balcony. Part of my hesitation in springing for club level is that I'd really hate to pay that high price and find myself stuck in a 2nd floor room without a balcony.

Exactly -- I specifically said we didn't want 2nd floor and she said there wouldn't be a chance of that due to being lagoon view. She seemed sure of her answers and I could hear her clicking around in the system checking. Not saying things won't change as construction clears up, but for the time being it sounds pretty accurate.

We are staying CL in two weeks at the Poly and I have not heard a peep from IPO. This is our first time staying CL and now I'm worried about spending all this $$. Can someone please share the phone #? Thanks!

I hope that this is a firm date as we have a super short trip for 3/22-3/24 and hubby would be upset if he couldn't get a Dole Whip!!

OH my goodness gracious. Once again, the DISboards come to the rescue!!! Tikiman, thank you so much for your diligent work keeping up with all this chaos!

We are moderate level vacationers, but I am getting ready to book at quick 3-night stay in October for F&W/MNSSHP/quick getaway and thought, what the heck, DD and I have always DREAMED of staying at the POLY!!!!! I was actually getting ready to book it online and I was having some snags with not being able to book for just the 3 nights (the site would let me book 4 or 5). I was going to call, but thought I would check here to see what's what first.

Sounds like the Poly is NOT the place to be this early fall, so back to the drawing board. This is going to be a major splurge for us and I do not want the hassle of what it sounds like will be going on!

THANK YOU!!!!!!

Just called but I got bumped over to the GF Club level as Poly was really busy. She called Poly to find out was refurbishments would be happening. There will be some sidewalk construction taking place but they weren't sure where that would be in two weeks time, buildings 10 and 11 are closed, Captain Cooks would still be open and was told CL should not be affected.

Saw on Tikiman's Facebook the official construction response from Disney! It said the menu will be the same but no dole whips- am I understanding this correctly? There might be pork nachos in my future after all!!

I'm really sad about the dole whips -- this was a fun snack to get while watching Wishes.....
