Official Poly construction update thread **updated video page 103(2/17/15)**

Also put in your request for longhouse and floor when you do online check in. I have my longhouse and floor requested for December through a CM already but she also suggested requesting it again when we do online check in.

I'm also a little sad I'm finding about this from other sources and Disney has yet to send me an e mail or a letter. I only get one honeymoon..hopefully lol. The construction shouldn't be too much of an issues for me, but disney doesn't know that.

I agree. We haven't heard a word from Disney either. I know some people did receive letters, but nothing here yet. Thankfully we have a heads up from the DIS and Tikiman.

Do you have your honeymoon noted on your reservation Abbey? Maybe (esp. given the construction situation) you'll get a little pixie dust!

Those fences did me in. We were scheduled for Hawaii next August, but I just switched over to Yacht Club.

I can understand that, I will be back for sure when all done but watching the demise of my fave in real time would bother me, lol. I think I just need a clean start.

Have you decided what you're doing yet? Appreciate your alerts as to when to check Tikiman's facebook. :thumbsup2

Just got back from a week's stay at the Poly yesterday. Have to say that the construction wasn't much of an issue for us. We had a standard view room and originally asked for Tahiti (our favorite) but with the construction I assumed they were not filling Tahiti or Rapa Nui so we decided to leave longhouse selection up to the Polynesian gods. We were put in Nuie, second floor, and were not disappointed. I'd definitely request this longhouse in the future. Really from our room we had no idea there was any construction going on and with the monsoon rains earlier this week we were happy to be so near the GCH. It was very quiet and away from the volcano pool. Did notice a LOT of daytime construction noise from the parking lot while walking to TTC. Also, was surprised to see there are still people in Tahiti and Rapa Nui. The combination of parking lot noise and the fences all around would not have made that an acceptable option for us. Not sure how things will change over the coming months but if you're going in the next few weeks you should be fine as long as you stay away from Tahiti and Rapa Nui. (Sorry, not sure about Hawaii - have never stayed club level.) All in all I was glad I was forewarned about the construction and pleasantly surprised with how little it impacted our trip!

Just got back from 2 night stay in the Hawaii Longhouse. Some fencing was going up during our stay. It was noisy during the day but the view of the castle and fireworks were still fantastic so not a huge impact.

Day 1 - 9/26:

Day 2 - 9/27:

By 9/27 the fences were higher and the path out to the grassy point was blocked by the fence.

speedo Thanks for taking the time to post those pictures

Thanks for the photos speedo!!! Helps to get a real idea of what is going to happen soon.

For those who are just back- how noisy is it during the day? I have three young kids who need to nap. Currently we are booked in CL but I can switch us to just a standard room and request a longhouse far away from construction if it is really loud.

It may depend what kind of construction is going on while you are there. For us they were putting up the fence so they were pile driving the poles, but I was surprised how well the sliding glass door muffled the noise.

Maybe give it a try for a day first than switch to another room if it is too noisy?

Does anyone know if the walkway from the Polynesian to the Transportation Center is still open?

This may have been covered already, but I will ask anyway :goodvibes

We have never stayed at the Poly before and we plan on going for our huge family trip (12 days with 8 people) in June/July 2015. Will construction be completed by June/July 2015?

Thanks for your input, in advance :)

Construction will not likely be completed by then.

Everything I've read has indicated late 2015/early 2016. So I would not expect it to be complete any time before Christmas of 2015 (especially given Disney's track record of delaying/extending projects).

From what I can gather, they plan to redo the pool and take the water feature out of the GCH in 2014. Based on that, I'm speculating that the 2015 construction will include continued work on the GCH (perhaps re-doing the upstairs restaurants) and substantial work on the bungalos.

While I am no expert I would agree that it will not be all done by then.

A little bummed, but what can you do? We are still far out enough to have a 2nd choice option available to us :thumbsup2 I really don't want to make a reservation with Poly if the GCH will be in a shambles, so to speak. Now we have to find that 2nd choice :rotfl:
