Official October Code Watch

What are the Disney Visa card discounts?? We were looking at maybe getting a card but weren't sure??? :flower3:

I received the postcard pin that said 1 day tickets not hoppers and we had already had 3 day hopper at the Pop and they made the changes with the pin. We had to switch to the Music because they didn't have any rooms at the rate at the Pop. That is ok with us because we saved $149 to move. It is just DH and myself so it is no big deal. We won't be at the room that much anyway.

A question for all you "old code watchers"

Is it your experience that the AP & Fla. resident discounts are more heavily discounted than the Disney Visa Card????
Do have all 3 and want to "hold out" for the AP's.

I'm certain blocks of rooms at various resorts are being held back for AP and Florida Resident room only rates which should be released within the next couple of days.
As I understand it, that's not the way these work. From what I've been told, the pool of rooms available for any discount is generally the same, no matter what discount is being used. I believe AAA is the sole exception. Of course, that was then, and things could be different for this round of discounts. We'll just have to see.

Disney has been pushing packages hard over the past two years. It seems that, lately, package discounts have been released before AP, and FL Res recently, and the deals are generally comparable, depending on your situation. Some (free dining) are so good that even APers buy them, adn just throw away or resell the single-day tickets. In general, smaller parties at Deluxe resorts do better with AP/FL Res, larger parties or those at Mods and Values tend to do better with Pacakges. At least, that's been true for the past couple of years for the time periods I pay attention to---late Summer and late February/early March.

In any event, conventional wisdom is that you should book the best available deal you can find at any time, and rebook if new deals that come out decrease your price. Otherwise, you run the risk of the discount pool of rooms drying up.

We DO NOT throw away or sell that one day ticket. If unused, that ticket is good forever. So we use that one day ticket to reduce the price of our next annual pass by $75!!!!!

We could have saved $280 over our AAA rate by switching from Movies to Music, but I couldn't convince the DDs. DW and I actually wanted to try out POR but the DDs insist on Movies and are praying to stay in the Dalmations building. Oh well, I guess the DDs rule. princess: princess:

I have a room booked at the POR in October with a pin I got. I called to see if I could use my Visa card and switch to the POFQ since the pin had no rooms left for the POFQ.
Unfortunately the Visa offer does not have any rooms at the POFQ either:(
They gave me the same exact price for the Visa discount as I got with the pin code.
I hope they will release some of the POFQ rooms in the general discount...

Called disney and was told that there was no more availability for WL 10/25 through 11/1 with the Visa. I missed the boat. I asked about General Public codes and the posibility of those being released later this week and very nice CM said that is how it is usually done. I hope i don't miss out on it too. Back to the waiting game:surfweb:

Yay!! I got a Visa Discount and upgraded to the POLY!! We actually booked it this morning expecting to pay full price because I will be 6 mos pregnant and thought that the conveniece would be nicer at the Poly, then my TA emailed me after confirming and we got a discount!!!!!

Laura-

Did you get a discount at the Poly? My TA said the discount wasn't available there. Maybe I just misunderstood you.

Congrats anyway!

I did get a discount at the Poly. We were already booked when the discount was annouced and I have a confirmation that it was applied to my reservation. It was all through my TA and I actually had no parts in it. Can they maybe check again? Now I feel bad...

Just a thought, maybe it has to do with the dates I am staying: 10-9-10/13. Are they the same dates you tried for?

Oh no, no need to feel bad, I am just wondering if my TA was given some incorrect info. I am already booked there as well Oct 15-21. I am going to ask her to check again. I hate to be a pain, but it's my money after all! :goodvibes

Just saved almost $500 on my POR trip 9/30-10/07    . I just called CRO and told them that I was a Disney Visa Card holder and asked if I was eligible for a discount. I WAS. All my hours on this board just paid off. Good luck to everyone else!:goodvibes

Question - if you don't have a Disney Visa yet, will they still let you book or change your package if almost already paid in full?

I have a package that is $150 from being paid in full, I don't have a Disney Visa, but I am willing to apply online for one IF my dates at POR are available for the discount.

I guess I'm asking what are the "rules" around booking and being a card holder.

I'm new to all this code talk. :rolleyes1

Do they ever have codes for people without the Disney Visa or annual passes? I booked a vacation through AAA but it is a standard package.

Thanks!

You have to pay for the package using a Disney visa. So you need to have the card first.

Woo Hoo!  I just saved $339 and I even got upgraded from a standard view to courtyard view at WL. I called 3 times this morning and WL wasn't available. So I thought I would call again after lunch and YIPPY WL was available.

For all of you that are still looking for the resort you want, keep trying. Many people are switching resorts so they can get the discount. Keep trying. :thumbsup2
