Holy crap! Now I think the world IS actually going to end in the Rapture on October 22, just to screw with my vacation plans!!!:mad:

East Coasters - did you all feel that earthquake!!? I was in one of the same magnitude in Cali a few years back, so I knew right away. Then the one in Colorado earlier - definitely the end of the world!!! Dang! :headache:

:lmao::lmao: at your first comment!!!

Second: yes, most definitely felt that; I did not like it!!!!! Was coming on to make sure you all are ok. My DD11 is babysitting DS2 and she freaked, but they are ok. DS doesn't even know anything happened - he was asleep. DH and DS10 were at wrestling practice and they felt it, but didn't realize what happened until I called. Then all circuits were busy.

I am so ready to go home.....

I hope everyone is ok.

:rotfl2: I had forgot all about the end coming while we were in Disney till you mentioned it.

I did not feel a thing :confused3 there are reports from all over Connecticut saying it was felt here.

DD was asleep at day care too, so she won't know what happened. The only reason I called to check is because DH's work evacuated, which I wouldn't have even thought of, so I wanted to make sure they didn't wake the kids to evacuate. Thankfully they didn't. I mean, what would they have done? Waited until someone inspected the building to go back in?? :confused3

I've heard mixed reports from NY to Boston of people feeling and not feeling it, so I guess it depends on where you were and how stable the building was. One of my friends was outside in a park next to construction work and didn't feel a think, but I heard the President felt it on the golf course in Martha's Vinyard! :rotfl: Hope he didn't miss his putt! :rotfl2:

Ok, DH just told me his company is closing their buildings in PA, NJ and VA for the day, even though there was no damage to any of the buildings. Really? Any excuse to go home for them. :headache: He works for a major cable provider. It's no wonder they have such a horrible customer service rating. Flame away. :rotfl2:

So what are the crowds like in October? First time at Disneyworld, so I have no idea of the crowds during this time of the year.

Disneyland is great in October, pretty much empty during the weekdays. Was wondering if its pretty much the same for Disneyworld.

Yep, I work at a chemical research facility, and I thought we blew something up. Kinda surreal watching everyone evacuating the labs wondering what's going on.

Now we have Irene bringing the potential to drop a ton more rain (and wind) to the Philly 'burbs. Between the past few snowy winters, hot summers, and now the rains, I don't know how my poor old house is going to hold up. I do not need emergency house repairs before the Oct WDW trip

Yes....and my phones are down so tell him he's not allowed to leave until they're back up!!! LOL Just kidding, of course. I'll call from work and say something in a little bit, I am sure there are major issues that need to be cleaned up right now. I have cell service and so does my daughter, so I'm ok with that. I wanna go home, though. Wonder if I can convince my boss to let me go. Wait....I am the boss. :rotfl: Nope...too much to do.

Chemical research near Philly? Hmmm....wonder where you work? lol (I interned at Jackson Labs in DuPont waaaay back in the day) A couple of years ago when we had a small earthquake in Salem County, my hubby actually thought something at DuPont blew up (we're known for that, you know). I'm with you on getting sick of this weather. But, on the bright side, at least this week is nice!

Crowds really aren't that bad, at least to my personal experience. When we went two years ago and the time before that, most of the rides are practically walk on. You'll want to get FPs for rides like Peter Pan, Soarin', Toy Story Mania and EE, but you won't need them for the large majority of rides. Also, the Food & Wine Festival is going on in World Showcase at Epcot....it is fan-tas-tic!!!

Welcome aboard. Please let us know your dates and resort and I'll add that to the first post!

So get this - the manager who sent the email out to all of the offices sent another one out 10 minutes later and took it back! :rotfl: Apparently it was just supposed to go to the people in corporate downtown because they're in the skyscraper. All those people who rushed out saying "I don't need to be told twice!" are gone and all those people who felt they needed to get just one more thing done are screwed! :rotfl2: And really? Dude, no backsies!! :lmao:

Phew! Too funny! There are so many people dealing with actual issues in this. The Comcast center is not falling down (oops! reveal!) and those people do not need to go home. If someone is upset then the manager can deal with them individually and that's understandable. But the whole building? Please. We all know it was an earthquake and not a terror attack. DC is apparently a madhouse right now with people not knowing what was going on for a while after it happened because the lines were so clogged down there. I'm sure they're all frazzled there and in NYC. That I can understand. The Comcast center is filled with TVs. They know exactly what happened.

I'm getting harsh in my old age.

What do you wanna bet that manager gets a talking to tomorrow? :lmao: And, really, I agree: no backsies!!!

I will admit, I didn't know what happened initially, but it did feel like what you'd expect an earthquake to be....it really was swaying. But I got over that and then tried to call DD to make sure she and the baby were ok (especially given she was babysitting). The phone lines were jammed for a good while, so I can understand the panic in DC a bit.

I am a little worried about the Skyline Drive, though. From the looks on the map, that's near where the epicenter was. I sure wouldn't have wanted to be up there during the earthquake. That drive is a bit scary on a good day (and I say this having been on it at least once a year since I was born), to be on it during the earthquake....I probably would've had a heart attack. I want to get home to see more news....everything on the Internet seems kind of clogged right now.

Glad everyone is safe. I wish I had something Disney related to do tonight, but nada. Maybe I'll catch that episode of True Blood I missed.

Fantasmic! every night in October!!! Here's the link...

Now I need to see if I should switch some days around. Some people may have thier plans in place and not change because of not rechecking the calendar.

Does this new info make anyone else want to switch things up? What to do, what to do...

Grrr... kinda throws a wrench into my plans. I may push back my Brown Derby meal for that day to a later lunch so we are not eating and having as long of a break between the meal and the show (lunch is currently at 1:30pm). I had actually HOPED this would happen at the beginning of my planning... now not so much lmao. I have an 8:30AM KTTK tour the following morning so it was going to be an early night... but the show is at 7:30pm so that would still be pretty early...

I don't know what to do!!:scared1:

Spent the afternoon working on our Animal Kingdom day 1 of 2. Below is a copy of our day. My concern is that I am not giving us enough time for the walking trails.

Animal Kingdom 9:00 – 5:00
Wake up call 6:00 leave CBR at 7:00 take bus to AK
Breakfast: Tusker House 8:05 411981519901

I know alot of people take the day off before the party but we are not sit around the hotel people. Plus we have a double stroller so the kids don't get exhausted they have a very relaxing time while we push them.

I wouold love for you to give me any input.

I don't think you'll get it all done. The trip out and back to Conservation Station can take nearly an hour. And the first time you stop to watch the monkeys for 20 minutes, your plan is totally shot. Is your second day a full day? If so, I would definitely get the safari and the bird show (love this one!) out if the way on Day 1. That will make your schedule more flexible when you come back. Then fill in with whatever trails you get done. But if you're doing the 10:30 show I wouldn't try to fit in Conservation Station.

Just my 2 cents.

Welcome to our west coast world and the fun earthquakes can bring. Of coarse we don't get many hurricanes or tornados so it all evens out.;)
We got our ME mickey mail today as we are straddling Sept/Oct and it will be a calendar month tomorrow until we go. Our countdown calendar is ready and waiting.:banana::banana:

i sure hope this is not just a nasty rumor, since I have spent the majority of the afternoon redoing our Disney agenda and ADR's. Instead of HS on Sunday we are plannning on going on Friday and AK for Sunday and hopefully a 2nd MNSSHP.

I have PLENTY Disney stuff you could do for me.....Please, from 1 Figment lover to another...PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE....:rotfl::rotfl:

But, I am in NC - so I felt the earthquake this afternoon....FrEaKeD ME OUT!!!

So now that I am over that, I have to prepare for Irene...AWESOME RIGHT???

And to top all that off - I went to copy my t-shirt transfer's and that Da** copier ate/burnt my transfer paper  - so I now I can't make our t-shirts. I can't go to Disney without homemade Disney shirts!!!!!

(before you tell me I can print them at home - my printer SUCKS!!!) So if anyone is looking for something to do, just let me know and I will send you the transfers and email you the print files. :scared1:

Ok, the earthquake was seriously scary. :scared1: A lot of tall buildings in DC and Baltimore shut down so the building engineers could inspect them. Traffic's been a mess and the Metro is running slow while they inspect that.

I was worried about you....so glad you checked in. SEPTA and PATCO are running slow, too.

I would LOVE to help you out. Are you able to wait until the weekend when I can run to AC Moore or Michael's to get the transfer paper? If you can, let me know and I will PM you my email address so you can send me the files. I have an HP laserjet at work. Also....just got a sweet new Lanier copier at work and I can print directly to there as well. Are the transfers in color or B&W. I'm afraid I might not be able to help if you need color.....all I have access to is B&W. Wait....that's not true....the sweet new copier is color and, as CFO, I happen to have the password to print to color. LOL :rotfl: Do you think that's an acceptable use of my administrative power? :lmao:

Just let me know....more than willing to help anyone out, especially a Figment lover. ;)

Please don't tease me....I really do need for someone to print them. I could mail you the paper just tell me what kind to get.
I took everything to Kinko's talked to them they told me what kind of paper to get but the copier burnt the paper....I cried right there in the store.
And YES they are all color.
My answer is YES use that power baby. You are in charge so who is going to question you???? :rolleyes1

I bought my wig for my Barbie costume today, but there is no way that I will be able to put it in a ponytail and have it look right. My hair is sooo dark and the way wigs are made it just will not work, so I have to wear it down.:sad1: DD has a hot pink sequence headband that I can wear instead of the scarf around the ponytail. The wig is great, but I'm really bummed that I can't look exactly like her. I feel really stupid for worrying about something so trivial with everything going on in the world these days, but now that the kids have been in school for a week (and I've been home all day alone for the first time since having them), I've been focusing on getting stuff ready for MNSSHP and this glitch in the plan is bugging me!:rotfl: I debuted my wig and outfit (without the belt--not done yet) for my neighbor and she thought it looked great even with the hair down, but...

I NEED my October peeps to tell me it's all gonna be okay!!!!:grouphug:
