How old are your kids? We did all you have there, minus breakfast, Flights of Wonder and EE, plus It's Tough to be a Bug and some stuff in Dinoland, in about 6 hours. Plus we always stop for just about every character. But, we didn't get there until about 10:30, so did not have a head start on the crowds. So I think your schedule is pretty doable.

The kids finally decided what they wanted to be for the Halloween party ... Super Sleuths! We're pretty excited about this idea. I ordered some tshirts for them (had to go to one of those make your own tshirt sites). Going to have to think of some other costume ideas. My husband says we need to design a finder flag to put on the stroller. :cool2:

We're doing something similar on our AK/MNSSHP. We're doing the Sunrise Safari that AM so we have to meet in the CL lounge of AKL at 6:45a then after the safari activities end around 9a we have breakfast then park touring until sometime that afternoon. Then we'll go back to the resort to rest and leave for MK around 5. I don't have our whole day planned out, we don't have kids, and I think we will end up doing a 2nd night of MNSSHP so there are some differences; this day will also be the 1st full day we are at the world and the day after I have us going to EP late AM/earlyafternoon so our energy will still be fresh! So a little of your plans might depend on what's going on the day before and after but, I think if the adults can handle a long day and the kids will get a nap then you would be in good shape. Sometime when there's a will, there's a way in Disney!

I guess I should also introduce myself on this thread. I've been active on the other October 2011 thread and been lurking on this one for a few weeks and decided to quit being a stranger. Anyways, DBF and I will be there 10/22-10/29 staying at AKV-Jambo. Looking forward to our 1st MNSSHP and F&W !

Unfortunately, Sunrise Safari booking is only open to those staying AKL-CL. But, I'll tell you all about it anyways because you never know what a future trip might bring you! It's every Sunday and Thursday AM and reservations are only able to be made for guests staying AKL/AKV-CL and there's a max of around 50 spots. I think it's for all ages (they do have children and adult pricing). The guests are taken to AK early in the AM before park opening for a 30-45 min tour of Kilimanjaro Safari on the same trucks, but there's more detail about the animals and more/longer stops for better picture opportunities. Afterward there's a breakfast buffet at Pizzafari and everyone get's a FP to do the safari again later in the day.

Welcome!!! I have a link to the other October thread on the first post here. The more, the merrier! I wanted to stay at AKL, but I was out-voted. LOL I'm not going to complain, I am all about pinching the pennies, but I just think it is such a beautiful resort. Maybe next year (or the year after).....

Looks good to me. It looks very doable. I want to spend a lot of time on the walking trails this trip as well. We missed them last time with my mother in law.

Good Morning October Peeps -
And as for early ticket pick-up....

I spent a good deal on the phone with Disney this morning to get the issue resolved. I am referring to picking up your MYW tickets early from the package not the MNSSHP tickets. For instance, our package check-in date in October 23rd, but we are checking in for room only on October 20th. I wanted to make sure I could pick-up my park hoppers (or MYW) tickets on the 20th at DTD. DTD Guest Relations is an unequival yes. They will do this with no problems. But, if you call any other Disney numbers, including ticketing, you are told no. Finally, I couldn't take it any more this morning and read the woman in ticketing word for word what Cheshire Figment stated on the ticket sticky here on the DIS (after she kept telling me in no way could it be done). Needless to say, she was shocked I knew as much as I did. She said "could you please hold, I need to contact guest services?". When she came back on, all she did was apologize. She said she definitely learned something new today and that yes, I could pick the MYW tickets up early at the entrance to any of the theme parks or DTD. She told me the tickets would be paper tickets (which I knew) and that they would be separate from the KTTW card (which I knew). She actually thanked me for giving her the info!!!

So....long story short (too late!)...you can pick up your MYW tickets early from your package, just as Cheshire Figment states. Of course, I'll still be nervous as all heck until I actually have them in hand, but it's good to be armed with names and dates you spoke to people.

Oh, goodness, am I long winded. Sorry, but I forgot something.....

when I was in line for the Stan Lee autograph signing, two people told me they thought DS2 was 4!!!! I about freaked. I said "Does he really look 4?!? I'm heading to Disney and I don't have a ticket for him!" And it was actually HopeSparkles that said it was because of his height. I told her DH is six and a half feet tall, so I can't really control that. LOL

So, I plan to make a copy of his birth certificate and put in the camera bag to bring with me to the parks. I would feel awful being questioned, but I would rather be prepared than not.

FigmentChick - That is good news about the early pick-up. I can see why you be nervous about someone doubting your DS age if he is tall. Height I think is what many use to determine a childs age. My oldest DS was tall for his age in fact I can remember the day the pediatrician told me that my son would be 6 ft or taller which has to be a throwback since neither I nor his father are tall but my father was over 6 feet tall.

srauchbauer - I have never spent an entire day at AK, nor have I seen everything there, AK just always seems to be crowded and hot and I have gone at different times of the year, Jan, Aug, March I am just done with AK and ready to leave after a few hours. We were going to skip it this year, and still may who knows but as of now I am only planning on being there from 9-1 leaving after lunch at Yak & Yeti.

I think you will be fine since you are planning to go back to the resort for a break in the afternoon, that is exactly what I have planned for the night we go to MNSSHP.
IMO playing at the pool all day in the sun can be just as exhausting as going to a park.

sjs - I agree about AK. I have often said they pump heat into that park! :) We have never done everything in AK either; we just pick our favorites and go with it. This will be the first trip for the Boneyard. DD11 and DS10 have both been "too old" to play in it on all our other trips (their words, not mine). So, we're adding a lot this time around. I told DH we may have to spend a little extra time at AK one other day.

thank you all for your input - DD is such an anima freak she would probably spend everyday in Animal Kingdom if we let her.

OK - talk me into it. ;)

I've not seen Fantasmic! before and every time I read about it there is much complaining about having to get there so early and getting out is hard with all the people. So, I've been leery of trying it. Is it worth all the hassle or is the hassle not as big as folks make it sound?

TIA!

you should at least try it once. We skipped it last year because it was only showing twice the week we were there and we had seen it 3 times before. We didn't think skipping it would be a big deal, but we really ended up missing it. The kids said to make it a priority this trip, so we will definitely see it. Now I just need to decide if I should switch days or not. I think it will be crowded if we go on one of the original days it was going to be showing, so I will have to review everything and see if I can switch some things around. The kids LOVE the evening EMH at DHS, so I may be stuck.

To be honest it is not my favorite show, however I always try to experience something for myself before making up my mind if I like it. You do have to get there early for a good seat, and it is a madhouse to get out; but I find that it is not different than the mass of people following wishes on Main Street in Magic Kingdom. It is really cool to see Sorcerer Mickey in action. Maybe with it being every night it will not be as crowded. Hope that helps.

Fantasmic! every night in October!!! Here's the link...

http://www.disneytravelagents.com/S.../pdf/ParkHours/WDW_Operating_Calendar_Oct.pdf

Now I need to see if I should switch some days around. Some people may have thier plans in place and not change because of not rechecking the calendar.

Does this new info make anyone else want to switch things up? What to do, what to do...

Oh dear, here I have been tweeking my ADRs, agonizing about whether to change the night we do MNSSHP and had all but decided no Fantasmic!...as it was, only planed on going if they added a 2nd show. :scared1: Now I don't know what to do :confused3

just tried making ADR's for a Fanstamic dinner package and they don't have it on disney's calendar yet, hopefully soon and when I am home.::woohoo:

I'm in the same boat. We've never seen it, but that because the past two trips, it's only shown one or two times during the week. I think we'll have to fit it in this time around. Even if it is just to finally say "we saw it". Now I have to figure out if we are going to go back to the resort for a nap in the afternoon and then go back to DHS or just stay all day. Probably nap. Our DHS day I was planning on ending up at Epcot in the evening and snack our way around the world for dinner. Guess that will change now. We'll see.....
