Official May 2011 thread!

We are leaving in 3 days!
We are driving from NM and not going in a straight line. Think of the Family Circus kid dotted line. It's still a vacation and we will get there eventually. :)

I just noticed that you're from Alamogordo. We lived in Cloudcroft for about 7 months and had to drive to Alamogordo to do all of our shopping. I looooooooooved summer time in Cloudcroft! So beautiful! But then...the worst winter storm in 20 years hit last winter and we headed back to Texas! :rotfl:

34 more days to go!!! :cool1:

These next fews weekends are packed so I am hoping that they fly by!

This weekend: Easter
26/27: Kids have TAKS TEST
30/1 : Church Festival
7/8: Mothers Day
14/15: Packing
19: LAST DAY OF SCHOOL :woohoo:
20: DD5 dress rehersal for her first dance recital:cloud9:
21: DD5's Dance Recital
22: WE ARE HEADING TO THE WORLD:cloud9:
23: MY 30TH BIRTHDAY- SPENDING THE DAY AT EPCOT

It is soooo close!!!!!:woohoo:

Dude. This surprising the kids at the airport thing is cramping my style. I am DYINGGGG to start packing. The other day we were in the garage and I started a fake tiff with my husband telling him the suitcases were getting dirty in the garage (who cares?) and that I was putting them in our closet. LOL The kids were none the wiser. I have a huge bag on the top shelf of our closet with goodies, etc in it - but I can't pack until the NIGHT BEFORE we leave!! Dh is going to take the kids to a movie and let me do my thing. :guilty:

So what things are you all looking forward too most??? Besides everything :rotfl:

Mine are:
1. Seeing DH at the airport for the first time (except Skype) in 5 months.
2. Star Wars Weekend without having to make a mad dash for sign ups for the Padawan Mind Challenge (DS is 13 this year and above the age limit) and no standing in that grueling heat for the Jedi Training - though I loved seeing him up there each year we have gone I am glad to not have to do it this year - DD has no interest at all in being on stage with Darth Vadar :rotfl2:
3. Going at a slower pace - doing things we don't usually have time for - like sitting for a few on the bleachers in back of Casey's - taking in the small things of Disney that we usually rush through and overlook. DS mentioned Casey's yesterday and watching the old cartoons - he also wants to poke around in the train station looking at the luggage etc. (he loves to read about all the little hidden extras like me). Last year he was so excited to show everyone the key under the mat at the Muppets 3D. :goodvibes
4. Just enjoying our family all together again for a few weeks - a few weeks that will have to hold us over for another 6 - 7 months.
5. Wishes

HI! Cloudcroft is great during the summer. I remember last winter. I discovered I wouldn't make it where those were normal winter temps.

I feel like I got so much accomplished today. My kids are at grandma's (should be home in about 20 min.) and I went through all their outfits (took pics of each outfit for each day to put on each ziploc bag), wrapped all their gifts and laminated all the "special notes" from the characters to go with them, made dinosaur & easter cut out cookies this morning, did laundry & got our chili going in the crockpot. Tonight is Disney movie night since we didn't get to do it Friday. We're doing Dinosaur with hot lava & rocks, herbivore salad & dino cookies. I have an awful cold but am actually kinda happy to have it (that way I won't get sick when we go to Disney, right?) lol.. there's logic to everything.

Tomorrow I begin my new job babysitting for 2 kids only 2 days a week so that should help pass the time even quicker now...

Thursday we're dying Easter eggs & Friday is Disney Movie night again (Lion King)... Sunday of course will be another busy day. Oh boy... then we'll be at less than 3 weeks away and I can get started on the important stuff!

DH's aunt was at WDW this past weekend and grabbed us maps. Her 2 daughters were in the parade with their school band... one of them has gotten sick everytime they've been at Disney (3 times now) and this time she started having back spasms while marching so she got pulled out of the parade and given the royal treatment by Disney with a behind the scenes tour and all... can't wait till they get back home tomorrow so we can see pics :)

I started getting some things together this weekend for our trip in 3 weeks!! We got our shirts made for the D23 Scavenger Hunt and gathered up all our documents and planning guides.

We got a little sidetracked - a tornado went through our neighborhood Saturday night! :scared1: We live on base housing for Camp Lejeune and an F3 tornado hit two streets over from us (about 250 yrds away). We were so lucky that our house sustained no damage and our family is safe. We spent most of the day yesterday helping other families clean up. I feel so badly for those who lost everything (and some of these women are dealing with this alone, as their husbands are deployed). If you could all keep the military families in your thoughts and prayers over the next few days, it would be great!

Saw the news reports of the tornados. Prayers for all those affected. Glad you all are safe!!!!!!

So the schedule changed huh? When will Disney update thier site? Looks like I need to revise some info in our travel binder.

I have had our trip planned for a while complete with ADR for the days we are going to be in each park, no park hopper. I really need to know the actual times as well. Can anyone help with this?

Any advice on Jedi Training...we have tried and have YET to get their in enough time. We will be there May 20th and being the 1st week-end of Star Wars iam sure it will be super PACKED. :confused3

Is it normal for these to not match the hours on the Disney website????

From what I've heard on the Disboards yes. The Disney site NEVER reflects the real hours because the webmasters don't care.

Noticed post of you are starting to pack......we have just 3 weeks.....and I always pack everything the night before....I don't think I would know what to pack so early.

But our documents are all together, and our shirts made or bought, will be getting our bathroom items ready too.....but as far as actually packing our clothes.....it will be the night before.;)

So I think I'm going to go ahead and start packing tomorrow.... We live in Chicago, and since it SNOWED today I don't think there would be any problem in packing up some of our shorts and summer clothes into suitcases! SOOOOO EXCITED!
