Official May 2011 thread!

Oops sorry, if I had kept reading I would sen where you are from, I am just across the big pond from you, we are west of Traverse City.

I'm in West Texas and it was 100 here yesterday, so Orlando in May will actually be a break from the heat for us! :rotfl:

Wow, yup! We could take the carferry across and visit :) I really do love living here but I can't believe it's snowing in late April... at least THIS MUCH :confused3 I do hope it's super cold when we leave in 24 days just so I can rub it in a bit.. hehe...

Coming to Disney the first week of May for 1 week. From Canada, flying out of Buffalo. Cannot wait to see everything!! Please take care of us, give us some tips (we're a couple of 20 somethings) on cheap tickets and scheduling!

Welcome!
The best tip I can think of is..you will not be able to see/do everything. Enjoy yourselves. You have a better chance to ride the popular rides if you arrive by rope drop. Check out the other forums here for more info. :)

Wow I can't imagine snow at this time of year, or for that matter any time of the year!! We are at 87 right now (it's 5:00 p.m.).

I love, love, love hot weather!!! If it's below 75, I usually have jeans on.:rotfl:

Well, I'm at 34 days...............and I'm trying to contain my excitement, but it's real hard.

:scared1:Where are you that they are calling for 7 inches of snow? We have had decent temps here, but a lot of wind and rain. I am also ready for some upper 80s weather and a slushy.

Just noticed you're in Annapolis! We were just there this weekend- we had a wedding to go to in Easton, MD
I loved Annapolis- really want to go back to visit again sometime, seemed like a great town!

I love it here .... I love WDW more. Did you go over to Historic Annapolis? I am going to retire however to Charleston South Carolina, I am From New orleans LA and I HATE the winter and snow. I think the snow is pretty when it falling but that is where it ends. When you come down next time we will have to have an Annapolis DIS meet.

Any advice on Jedi Training...we have tried and have YET to get their in enough time. We will be there May 20th and being the 1st week-end of Star Wars iam sure it will be super PACKED. :confused3

Are you going to actually be at DHS on a SWW day(Fri, Sat or Sun)? If yes you need to plan to be there at least an hour to an hour and half before the park opens. They will open the turnstiles early and let you go so far into the park. We have been to SWW the last three years. Last years seemed to be the craziest with all the people trying to get into Jedi Training since they didn't pick from the crowd any more but were doing sign ups. When they let you in so far you will need to head toward the left like you are going to the Sounds Dangerous building (unless they change it up this year). There you will have to wait until the CM's drop the rope at 9:00 AM. Last year they introduced a couple of CM's you followed one for the Jedi Training or the other for Padawan Mind Challenge (DS wanted to do the PMC). People are crammed in this area like sardines......when the rope drops (despite all the warnings of no running, no pushing, etc......it's crazy) it was chaos. We were able to get in the PMC we wanted with no problems. The line for Jedi Training was probably worse than the line for fast passes at Toy Story Mania first thing in the morning - I am sure they filled up all the shows for the day and turned people away there were that many trying to get in. I think the kid has to be with you for this......I am not sure.

Get there early. There will be CM's outside the turnstiles handing out the special SWW maps/brochures and last year they were great about answering any questions of where to go for what sign ups etc. and if they didn't know they radioed and got someone who could help.

Good Luck!!!!! And may the force be with you. :goodvibes

If you are going on a non SWW day I think it might not be as crazy but I think you still go line up and get selected for whatever show. I'm not entirely sure. Maybe ask on the general theme park board and see what the current process is from those who are just back.

Got some Mickey Mail finally, and we're off to buy a new piece of luggage this weekend.

Is the time dragging by as slowly for all of you as it is for us? :P

THIS is exactly why we are going to go mid-week to HS! I'm a big Star Wars fan, but can't do this with the kids and a DH who is NOT a fan  We'll be going on a weekday instead so we have a better chance of getting my son in the Jedi Training Academy (we've tried for years to no avail so here's to hoping it happens this year!)

I got Mickey Mail too! Just some informational stuff about our vacation and some recommendations - but still fun! The kids were so excited :)

And yes, time is DRAGGING until we go to Disney! I NEED a vacation and thank goodness it will be at Disneyworld!!!

I can't believe we are only 5 weeks from arrival day. :scared1: I am proud to say though that I went shopping last night (thanks Nanny and PawPaw) and they bought my son, self and husband not only new clothes for our trip, but Easter clothes and the rest of the toiletries we needed to complete packing. I intend to finish packing Tuesday (thanks again Nanny-my son's grandmother) then I just have to finish up our goodies and his gifts for each day and wait, and wait and wait. :surfweb: Getting excited incase you can't tell. :rolleyes1 Hope to see some of you there.

18 days and counting and then I will be at the most Magical place on earth with my loving husband and now that we will be going to SWW we will be there for 14 magical days.

Now just get a packing list, pick up a few odd and ins and decided if we ant costumes for SWW.

8days of PARK + 4 days of WATER PARK AND DTD/DISNEYQUEST + 2 days DHS=14 days of fun.

23 Days! I couldn't help myself anymore and packed the kids' clothes last night. DH thought I was nuts. That's okay. :confused3 We also finished up DD's bows. The time seems to be going by "okay"... I wish it would speed up but then again, I hate to wish the vacation over already :(

16 Days! Wait.......6 until ONLINE CHECK IN!! Woo! I am definitely excited. Sad to think that in a few weeks I will be back and the excitement will be over.

Bought the last of the "stuff" we need last night (not including clothes I need, that's tomorrow night).

O.k. let me just say that I am REALLY looking forward to our trip in a couple of weeks (15 days to be exact :cool1:) because as I was taking my kids to the bus stop, it was down right freezing! My car read 34 degrees:...my kids were dressed as if it was in the middle of winter...and it is April (not taking any chances of them getting sick with 2 weeks left). Both the girls and I said that the one thing we are really looking forward to when we go is stepping off the plane for the first time and getting a whiff of that warm Florida air (you know the part right between the plane and that tunnel thing that I always seem to forget the name of). Don't get me wrong, we are all super excited about going anyways, however once I saw/felt how cold it was this morning, that made me want to be there that much more. I am so sick of this cold weather, we need some warm Florida sun...and soon! :goodvibes
