*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

oldschoolfigmentluvr, LOVE your photo! That's something none of you will ever forget. I feel sad when I look at our old pictures of Toontown, including the ones of DD on her first trip, completely enthralled with Minnie's kitchen. I wish they could have found a spot for them somewhere. They had a place in so many of our hearts, so why not make a place in Fantasyland?!

Thank you! Yes, I miss Toon Town as well. Those little houses were a big part of my childhood. They should have added them along with the expansion. :confused3 I haven't seen NFL yet. I hope I will like it.

You can always come to Disneyland - Mickey's Toontown is alive and well here. Plus, everything in Mickey's House is meant to be touched!

I went when I was about 13 and have been dying to go back! Unfortunately living on the east coast brings about the problem of 800-1000 dollar airfare for 2 when its only 350 to fly from Connecticut to Orlando. One day though! Haunted Mansion and Pirates are sooooo much better in Disneyland and I love the Matterhorn!

Best Disney Story: We booked our last trip at Coronado Springs. AoA Little Mermaid rooms were opening two days before that, so I added on two days at Little Mermaid. (I thought it would be nice since we can't afford the suites to experience the resort) We showed up opening day for the Little Mermaid rooms, checked in, went to room but didn't unpack... Spent some time in a park, then headed back to the room. I went to run a bath for DD, and no hot water! They sent someone down, and of course, he couldn't fix it that night. They were booked full in the Mermaid rooms, so they asked me if it would be okay to move us to a suite! Well, DUH! And did I want it for one night or both? Well, hmmmm. Yeah I guess both would be okay. :lmao: Didn't tell the kids, we just went to our new room. They were just a little excited. We stayed in a Cars suite, and LOVED the theming and the room.
What do you look forward to most on your next trip? Seeing the new Fantasyland!

The last time we went to Disney, 2008, it was early June. I don't remember being hot! I AM from Texas, so used to heat and humidity. I think Disney does a great job with lots of shade and the lines are pleasant and you can always swing indoors and cool off for a minute or wait for the afternoon rain to cool you off!!

We got our Magic Bands, now waiting for our "other documents" from TA. 19 days!!!!

Exactly two weeks from now we will be in the air and approx. an hour from landing in orlando. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!!!! :hyper::hyper::hyper:

:welcome: Oodalaly13, disneygal29, ton 80, preemiemama, Suzanne033, TyeRiley, Band Mom!, oldschoolfigmentluvr, & Imbcdb!

All are updated on page #1 up to this point! Woohoo! Only a week to go for the front of the list! :dance3:

Hello all! Hope you don't mind if I join in! I'm a newbie to the DISboard world. I will be taking my parents (mom is 53 and dad is 51) for their first ever Disney trip. This will be my (I'm 29) 4th trip. I wen once as a high school senior with our band and twice chaperoning that band trip. (I now teach at the school I graduated from). This will be my first time to stay at a resort. We are gearing up to decorate window, have characters sign a photo mat, the whole she-bang. I know I'm going to cry as I watch them have their names stitched in their first pair of Mickey ears. People say I'm crazy for always traveling with my parents or for not working 24/7 but my parents have sacrificed a lot for me and I want them to see and go places while they are able!

The more the merrier, right? Sounds like a fun trip. Our school's jazz band went this year, and it was so tempting to volunteer myself up as chaperone, but we had dance recital pictures that weekend. (drat.)

What do you look forward to most on your next trip: Watching my DD play VB.

I think we all have some issues pointing out favorites. I go with Donald, and try to get myself a new/different Donald plushie every trip. I've got a classic, a grey tone (like the old cartoons), and one from Mexico. I think I neglected to get one last trip, but I bought myself a Duffy (with the Sully costume!) I need to start planning out what plushies we'll be buying this trip. A new Donald, I'm hoping for an Olaf, I always buy a Minnie for one of my friends....I need to make a plushie spot in the house somewhere to display all these guys, don't I?

Where is this google doc?

Hello all! I wanted to post this as a completely new thread but either I dont know how or I am still too new and dont have the right numbers yet. Anyways, as I have already mentioned, I am 29 and taking my parents (53 & 51) for their first ever Disney trip. It's my 4th trip but first time to stay on property and not be following a schedule of a school chaperoned event.

I am going to list my plans and would GREATLY appreciate suggestions, ideas, comments, etc. We will be staying at Pop, have 4 day park hopper passes and the Dining Plan with 1 QS, 1 TS and 1 Snack.

Day 1: Check in to Pop, Dinner at Trails End (7:15), watch Water Pageant
Day 2: MK FP+ for Space, Seven Dwarfs & Peter Pan, Dinner reservations at Liberty Tree
Day 3: Epcot FP+ for Spaceship Earth, Nemo & Soarin, Dinner reservations at Biergarten
Day 4: AK FP+ for Safari, Everest, Dinosaur, no dinner reservations
Day 5: Late day at Hollywood (get there around Lunch) FP+ for Movie ride, ToT and Fantasmic, Dinner reservations for Hollywood & Vine
Day 6: Check out of resort begin travel home

Post #1 has some links to some various Google Docs where you can add your information and see where everyone else is going to be! As long as you click on the link, you SHOULD be able to edit, but there are a few people who have had some issues.

Stalking from the July board.

How are you Junies coming along in plans? Your pics. are going to help me pass the time until my trip. The wait is killer:rotfl:

My first reaction is :p ;) But, just remember: when we're all home wishing we were back at Disney, you'll be there! I guess that means you are now the designated post-trip picture-poster, letting us live vicariously through YOUR July trip! :joker:

I've got about 40ish days until my June trip and it is drivin me bananas! I'm even starting to put stuff aside to pack!

I WANT to pack...I really do... But I have a conference the first week of June, so I have to wait at least until I get back from that. That's another 3 days I look forward to every year, if you can believe it!:teacher:

I would also say Kouzzina at Boardwalk. The Boardwalk area is nice and the food at Kouzzina is great, IMO. Same thing in terms of hopping back to a park- DHS and Epcot are a walm or boat ride away. MK is a bus ride away.

If anyone wants to eat at Kouzzina, make sure you do it this trip! They will close the doors permanently at the end of September.

I know how you feel! Deep South Texas here (it's closer to leave the COUNTRY than leave the STATE). Right now we got a bit of a cool snap and it is 70 degrees! :-O

I was born in the Lake Jackson/Freeport area! (Although I'm sure you're further west than that, right?)

I am new here and this is my first post. We arrive June 13 and I wanted to share that I was able to get fast pass+ for both MSEP, FOF, and Wishes just now. Just wanted to share for those that have been waiting for those!:cool1:

I got you added to post #1 with as much info as you gave. Welcome to the group!

I need to catch up with everyone! I'm just now posting on this thread, but we are headed back to Disney June 8-14!! Woohoo!! And Yes, it is with our HS Band again... this time it is DS16 (last one) that will be marching down Main Street before the evening parade! These trips are so much fun (and emotional!). I cry every time! Look for me - I have my green MickeyHead name tag tied on my bag. If you see me, say HI! :wave2:

Another band group! Wow. I need to get our dance group to go down there and dance...

I know everyone's complaining about the heat, but its in the 50s here today and after the snowiest winter on record I'm ready for some sweltering heat!

You'd think we'd all be ready, wouldn't you? I'm definitely ready except for ONE thing...mosquitos! I had 4 fly in the car with me the other morning. I managed to smoosh all of them before they bit me more than once. There used to be something you could spray in the bushes once a month to kill them off (or at least get them out of the yard...), but maybe I should plant some mosquito plants around the yard. (Yes, I've heard people talk about mosquitos at WDW, but we've never found them. Worried? Bullfrog sunscreen has bug repellant.)

Sixteen more days for me!! :cool1: And I'm new to this particular party. I do lurk on the Dis but I was a TGM'r until he went out of business....I'm usually just to shy to say anything here on this forum.

I think an upgrade is something we all hope for, but it never seems to happen.

Updated! Finally! And caught up! Woohoo!

Dance recital was last night, so our dance year is over! (Until competition team interest meeting on the 27th...)

This week may still have some craziness. I've got a faculty meeting Monday (put off twice now...), seems like there is something on Tuesday, I need to fit in some Girl Scouts one day this week (???)...Thursday, I will likely need to stay late to help decorate for Friday's Senior Honors Day and Class Night.

With my Seniors, we've got practice 2nd block tomorrow, then there's a play 2nd block. Wednesday is Honor's Day for 7 - 11th grades and 4th block Senior practice. Thursday is 1st/3rd block final exams for Seniors (gotta get a study guide done!) and I may not have 2nd/4th blocks (:cheer2:) Friday is Senior Honors Day and the tea. They will leave around lunch time, and I have to decide if I'm going to get DD and bring her for Class Night that evening (must be back at school by 6 for the program that starts at 7 and may last until 8:30 or 9...) The next Monday is a holiday. Tuesday is 2nd/4th finals for all classes, then I won't have Seniors that Wednesday (yay! but still have 9th graders...), then the 29th is the last day. Graduation practice at 8 that morning, kids released at 12:30, Graduation line up at 6:00 that night. Last day for me on the 30th.

But I should be able to check in here a little more often. :)

BTW...

  1. We should do a photo challenge (make a list of things to photograph and post after our trips....)
  2. With some of us leaving in a week, do we need a final checklist of "make sure you take this" type items?
  3. What is on your "must buy" list of souvenirs? Or are you the type to hit clearance sales and outlet stores to stock up on inexpensive stuff to pack and "surprise" your kids with so they don't ask for all that expensive stuff at Disney? Do you plan a budget for souvenirs -- I don't want to spend more than X amount each day?
  4. I'll try to start posting some Disney theme night ideas...but anyone else who has one can certainly join in! We (my family) could start Wednesday -- which is our 30 nights out day. (And, for the most part, I will be able to cook and prep stuff, with a handful of exceptions.)
  5. Anything else?

Hello, all! Don't mind me, I'm just going to hop on this Disney train as it's about to pull out of the station!

Favorite Disney Character: M-I-C-K-E-Y!!
Favorite Disney Movie: Beauty and the Beast
How Many Trips?: This will be my 11th! 8th for DSis and very first for her friend!
On-Site or Off?: On-Site
Best Disney Story: Oh gosh, there's so many I can't choose! How about just the quickest best story for now? I lost my debit card somewhere between the China Pavilion one evening and riding Tower of Terror the next morning. There were no charges on it by the time I cancelled it. We still say my card was lost to the Twilight Zone.
What do you look forward to most on your next trip? Being in my second home on my actual birthday! Which comes on the longest day of the year during one of the busiest seasons so I NEVER thought this would happen!

My DD and I love being at WDW on our bdays! (24th and 25th here!) Of course, there's nothing like celebrating for a whole week, either!

How many of us will be celebrating actual birthdays, anniversaries, etc. while we're in the World?
June 15 is our first park day and my 26th birthday :) We're going to Le Cellier for dinner and I'm so excited! This is going to be the best Bday ever! We're also celebrating our 2nd anniversary, but that's on June 2.

My son is turning three near the end of our trip... We are going to keep quiet on that one though because they couldn't change his age for the last two days of our reservation. He will be two for many more days of our vacation then he will be three.

Well, this trip is for our 25th anniversary which is actually on June 10th. However DH doesn't get out of school until the 16th, so we miss the actual date. His birthday is on the 30th though so we are eating a breakfast buffet at the Wave that day. (breakfast is his favorite meal). So far he's had two birthdays at a Disney park and I've never had one. Mine is at the end of September so we are all just back to school and can't take off during that time. I guess I'll have to wait until we retire. ;)

My DH's birthday is two weeks before we leave, my birthday is one week before we leave and my DGS's 7th birthday is the day we start our drive. We will also be celebrating our DGS's first trip. He will be 18 months old. We are having breakfast at Crystal Palace, lunch at Hollywood and Vine and Dinner at T-Rex to celebrate for the boys. DH and I will be more than happy to stand in the background for this trip, although I may have to tell a few CMs to wish the hubby happy birthday too! :)

We're celebrating out first DS turning 5 on the 19th! I've got a whole magical MK day planned for him that day!

My son is turning three near the end of our trip... We are going to keep quiet on that one though because they couldn't change his age for the last two days of our reservation. He will be two for many more days of our vacation then he will be three.

According to Disney, the age you are at check-in is the age they consider you for the trip. DD turns 10 in the middle of our trip, but she's still charged at the 9 and under rate. Same would go for your DS. :wizard:

I'm having my birthday that week also. I turn 40! :woohoo: But we are actually planning a non-park day.

We have begun the FP+ choosing. No issues with getting the rides at the correct times, so far. Have to wait a couple more days to pick Epcot and MK. (off site chooses one day at a time) Do have a small glitch. I changed the time on one FP for DD and DH--now they have 4 instead of the proper 3. And because of this, it's not showing in the MDE list. When I click on their names, all the correct ones and the extra are there. The actual day itinerary has everything. Going to wait a few days for the system to fix itself and then if it's still funky, I'll call. It's a 1130 Kali River, so I hope no one is waiting for that. :sad2:

DS19 moved today to Florida. Tomorrow begins the clock on his residency. He wasn't going to leave until later this week, but situations arose. The moving truck company gave him a heavy discount and extra day due to the situations.

DD16 has 13 more school days. This week we have one off for elections.

DS3 keeps growing. I was so worried about him making the 38" and then hoping for the 40". He made 40 in Feb and has been growing about 3/4" each month since. He is 42 1/2" tall now! I think it's all the apples and strawberbeebee he eats. I bought him more jeans for the height, but he has to have them cinched in so much on the waist.

Meanwhile I am working on losing 10 pounds. :rolleyes1 If I can't drop the squishy belly I will be ok. Academy Sports has some great swimsuits for very good prices.

Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey...One month (to go) :yay::yay:
