*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

@rainydayplay
WOOHOO!!!! Best wishes on your trip! I am thinking of getting some good ol' pop tarts for my breakfast. BUT (and you might think this is gross), my dad and I have a habit of grabbing jerky for breakfast if we are in a hurry.

I've actually thought about it. My usual breakfast is Turkey Sausage links and cheese. My blood sugar has been kinda wonky lately, so I'd really like to skip early morning carbs, but there aren't a whole bunch of options of things you can stash in the room that don't require being heated up. So, beef jerky IS an option...just an expensive one. ;) I'm looking forward to Tusker House breakfast on Sunday. :)

Isn't it great to be able to say going Friday (or whatever day you're going) instead of in X days/weeks/months/etc?

If I wasn't flying, I'd pick up some of those packaged hard boiled eggs at Costco to keep in the fridge for breakfast. Costco also has beef jerky for a better price than grocery stores and we've brought that on trips before. I'm bringing some nuts to have either for breakfast or snacks.
For lunch on the plane I'm bringing some pepper jack cheese and crackers.

DH and DS just picked up some beef jerky at Costco yesterday for the ride. They always bring it and I always have to listen to the girls complain that it stinks! lol :rotfl2:

Hmmmm...what about sliced lunch meat and cheese? You could make a roll-up for breakfast and that is something you can keep in the room fridge.

@tinkerbell
Is it that Oberto kind of jerky? I've gotten it before and my students take it on trips and it tastes good, but it smells HORRIBLE!

One thing we don't have to worry about in Texas is finding beef jerky....we have some specific to our town, there's a store about 4 hours away on our route to Disney that is famous for their jerky, kolaches and other cured meats and of course we have good ol' Bucees. Im not sure if that is just a Texas thing though. It's a type of gas station but it is GINORMOUS with all kinds of foods and gifts and shirts and amazing bathrooms.

I just got the email from Disney saying I could skip check in and go straight to my room or a park when I get off magical express. I'd like to give it a shot but I think my boyfriend still wants to check in with the online check in cm. Still have some time to decide.

I just got mine too and Im too nervous to do it. I dont know what time we will get there or leave and have never stayed at a Disney resort before. Thinking we will just suck it up and stand in the long check in line when we get there.

That much jerky available be a Texas thing. I'd love to stop there! On our way down to DLR, we drive past the Harris Ranch on 5. I've never stopped but I guess they have a restaurant there. The ranch is HUGE! And it smells really bad, but we are used to it because we are surrounded by cow fields and grape vines where we live. But the cows here are dairy cows for Clover.

Here is from today's email

Online check-in Head to the special "Online Check-In Service" area
in your Disney Resort hotel lobby to pick up your Welcome Folder.

So...where you CAN go on to your room, sounds like you can still go to the check-in and...check-in. I think the biggest benefit of bypassing check-in would be if you are the type who wants to go straight to the parks. You won't have to wait in line for your park tickets and all. We'll see how it works...and I'll be sure to post about it sometime before I go to sleep Friday night. :cheer2:

Arrived at MK just as opening show was finishing. Planned to come thru gates as first throngs of people went thru for dash to 7DMT ( we have FP+ for later) so we hit Adventureland and did Jungle Cruise, Carpets, PoC, Splash all standby then BTMRR w/FP+, Tom Sawyer Island, HM with FP+, stopped for 4-5 pressed penny machines along the way, and had lunch at Pinocchio Village Haus just after 12. Back to resort now to swim :).

Sounds like a full morning! :thumbsup2

I have a question you WDW vets should know. How early do we get a bus before park opening? Say we want to be at Epcot by 8:45am for a 9am opening, what time should we be at the bus stop? 7:45? Is an hour ahead of time a good rule of thumb?

Okay, here's our MagicBands:

Mine just needs a topcoat. I had way more detailed designs planned but with the limited time we have left I decided to go for a simple Sorcerer Mickey homage. Two stars will be added at the top for the Second Star to the Right (and straight on til morning). DSis' tried to replicate Kit Cloudkicker's jumper from TaleSpin and Squishy smudged her "just outline the head" idea so she turned it into an Epic Mickey head with drips of paint and thinner. If anyone understands either of those last two references then you get an A+ in Disney trivia. :thumbsup2 I'll get better pictures of each for our TR.

...Maybe I should go over the yellow in the stars and moon and make them white. :worried:

Very nice! I used to watch TaleSpin! Gotta admit the theme song is pretty catchy! :thumbsup2 The stars look good to me.

I'd say so. The buses are supposed to run every 20 minutes, and it's generally around a 20 minute ride (give or take...); however...sometimes, you wait forever for a bus. And sometimes the bus for somewhere will be running back to back (nothing more annoying than waiting forever for your own bus, and see 3 buses for the same park that you AREN'T going to roll on by...)

I'm baaaaack! What an exhausting, hot, humid and fabulous trip. I'm not going to lie to you - when the doors to LAX opened and I felt the cool, 75 degree dry weather, I almost wept for joy.

All in all the trip was wonderful. Only one disappointment - we got rained out of Fantasmic! the night that we had our dinner package. But it's amazing how much we go to do and see in the nine days we had.

It's definitely been warm, humid and wet. :-D We went to the playground around 11am and the temp was 86; heat index was 100. We drank lots of water and after 45 minutes went swimming.

There was a quick thunderstorm and now temps are 88. No additional heat index. The rain is good for this. At home, temps are the same with the dangerous heat index, but no rain for my garden.

Bring misting fans from home, if you can. In park they are $16.99 plus tax. We bought ours at home for $5.

Sorry you missed F! Glad you had fun! I'm bracing for the humidity and rain!

In the car to the airport!!! My kids were literally jumping up and down when I got home from work.
Have a good trip!

Oh, I didn't think about misting fans. Actually, I don't think I have room for one. I spent today packing and I am full! I'm trying to see what else I can do without.
