*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

Only 4 days to go and last night I had a crazy dream.

I dreamed that DH and I got to WDW and were at one of the parks (I don't know which one). For some reason we still had to pay for tickets and activate our MBs. I get in line and the guy says one minute, and then these teenage boys come up in front of my because they were still doing their transaction. So I left DH to stand there while I looked for another line. I look over and DH has just stood off to the side and let everyone go in front!

So we go to another line that turns out to be going in to the park and no one checks us to see if we have a ticket. So we start to walk back out and somehow I'm holding on to a little girl's balloon string and I turn to see her trying to pull it away. I told her I was sorry. That I had a balloon and it must have flown away. Somehow back out front we still can't seem to get in a ticket line and I'm frustrated that we've spent all morning and still don't have tickets!
Do you think that dream means I'm a little stressed about our trip? ;)

Sounds like you're really getting into the WDW trip planning thing. This is the final stage - the crazy dreams. :crazy2: It's a sign that you're about all set.

Do you know what is always really weird for me? Waking up on the first morning. I never have a clue where I am. Now that is also a sign .... I don't get out much :rotfl:

Shh! I just won a deluxe Elsa dress on eBay. Now, I'm waiting to find out if it will REALLY be here before we leave. Holding my breath....

That's so exciting! Fingers crossed for you pixiedust:

We're already at 6 days out so it's probably too late to do the online check-in and get an email. I also like the 'welcome home' feeling but we'll be arriving mid-day and it's such a short trip, maybe it would be best to skip the line. But I also don't want to jinx anything and have the plane have trouble or something by checking in beforehand and then we never show. (Yup. Vacation worry has set in. Must be a week out of travel date.)

Very sad, today I found out that after months of planning my disabled mother will be unable to make our trip this week due to pneumonia. She is just heart broken as we were celebrating my sons graduation as well as her overcoming a number of spine surgeries and breast removal due to cancer. We hope to make a future trip when she is better.

I got a message back from the seller; s/he says s/he has it, and will ship it out tomorrow by Priority Mail. The USPS says that priority mail should be received in 1-3 business days. If it goes out late Monday, that should be here by Thursday and we leave Friday. So...the big question.... Do I hold it until her birthday or until the day we go to the BBB? Hmmm.... :rolleyes1

Everything I've seen elsewhere says they still welcome you home. If you are planning to go straight to the parks, might not be a bad idea. Mom read somewhere someone's MBs not working, but it turned out they gave the wrong room #. So...could still be issues, but we'll test it out. I'm looking forward to not standing in line. BTW...if you do online check-in and don't get the email, then you still get a shorter line. Something to think about.

Boo, pneumonia! Maybe you can go in September or so, when it's a little less crowded, though. You could do Food & Wine Festival then. Or go in early November, when the Christmas decorations are up (and crowds still low...) So many options! And whenever you do go with mom, it will be an awesome trip! Hope your trip this week goes well otherwise!

How disappointing! Wishing all the best for your mom!

DH and I spent all day Saturday packing. We got most things packed, realized we still need to buy a few things, and still need to wait to pack a few things. Since we are leaving at 4:45am drive to the airporter bus stop on Wed, we want to have everything packed the day before so all we have to do is get up and go. Our plane doesn't leave until 10am but if we want to get through San Fransisco before traffic, we need to take the 5:15 bus. I am telling myself it is 8:15am WDW time. ;)

I say birthday, unless she doesn't know about BBB, then do it then.

Shorter lines you say. :scratchin We -are- thinking about heading straight to HS unless my cousins get back to me....

So sorry for your mom. :( I hope she gets well soon and you can bring her down then.

She knows. She requested it. She skipped it last year (:() and she's turning 10 this year, so we're limited on how much longer she can do this and we're trying to hold on to these years when princesses are important. I bought a different dress that will work, but you can tell that she wasn't thrilled with it. It just worked that, with shipping and everything, I managed to get this one for less than $100.

Went to Party America yesterday and found some A&E stuff, so I've got to figure out when I can decorate the room without her seeing. Was thinking about on my birthday, if I can get her and mom out the door first, as it won't take that long for what I've got. Then, when we make it back from Epcot, it would be done for her. Otherwise, it's decorating when she's asleep, so she'll wake up to the decorations. Decisions, decisions...

And, yes...shorter lines. Last time we did online check in, there was, like, one or two people in front of me and a good 10 in the regular line. You still get that interaction, they just have your welcome packet ready when you get there instead of them having to put everything together. Totes awesome.

I need to take/post a pic of my backpack, in case anyone sees us! :D

Okay... Here is my backpack! I am going to try to get my green, wooden Mickey head (see avatar) added to it if I can get it fixed... But, if you see this bag wandering around, I should be attached to it. I bet I'll be easy to spot, especially on my bday, when I will likely be wearing a matching shirt!

That bow is SOOOO cute! And that neon bag is awesome! I see you are from Alabama and have a question....We will be on I-10 coming from Texas through Louisiana, Mississippi and eventually Mobile into Florida. Do you happen to know how much it costs for toll roads from I-10 to get to Disney? I am trying to plan how many coins I need to bring for tolls AND pressing.
Once we leave Disney on the last day we will go to Daytona and then to Tallahassee, so if you have any toll advice there to, I would appreciate it. We are not going to get a sunpass/ezpass/whatever and only want to do cashless if we absolutely HAVE to at that toll booth.

Thanks!

We live in southeast Alabama, but if you are going I-10 to I-75, the only tolls we ever run into are on the Florida Turnpike (SR 91). Last year around July 1st, they upped the tolls. I want to say $3.50 or so one-way, but then it's been raised. I *think* 1st was $2.50, then $0.50 for each after (2 or 3...never can remember). Now I think it's $3.00 and $0.75. So, maybe $4.50 one-way? We're taking around $12 just in case, and they will make change for you if you don't have exact.

As far as the other side of Orlando/east coast of Florida, I can't say. We don't go that way too often.

Maybe someone who is closer or has been more recently than last June will chime in, too!

Finished my nails to finish my Magic Band! One step closer!

Love, love, love nails and the matching band! :)

So sorry to hear your sad news :hug: Hope she recovers quickly so she can look forward to and enjoy planning the next one with you.

Now that, dear friends, is a REAL DISer bag! :thumbsup2

I will keep an eye open for your green backpack! Mine is not so stand out-ish but this is what I will be wearing in the parks.

My tag says PinkBudgie on one side and has the DisBoard logo on the other side. DH may or may not have a LGMH o the backpack that just has the DisBoards logo on it. We'll see if I can make it stay. It always rips off when he pulls it out of tight spots on rides.

You should at least see it at Via Napoli on the 24th, if you don't see it anywhere else! Or wandering around POFQ! (There will only be 12 or so of us overlapping there!) And if you see me, I should be with eeyore344!

I'm *almost* packed. I've got a few things left to get together, another load or so of laundry to do, and the last-minute, please don't forget these sort of things. Then waiting for that other thing to come in. Also have to figure out what I'm going to take for breakfast. I don't know that I want to take cereal, but I'm really the only one who eats breakfast.

Yes, we'll be at Via Napoli at 7pm. Earlier that day our plan is to go to DAK, then over to Epcot for the evening and hopefully be able to watch Illuminations after dinner. I couldn't remember if you were at POFQ too.
Not sure what we are doing for breakfast. I think we will try to bring some granola and/or peanut bars for breakfast. We'll see how many we can fit. This is when driving would be nice. DH's parents are actually driving all the way back east from CA! They will be in Maryland but funny that we will all be back east at the same time. It would be fun to see things along the way, but I just can't imagine that much driving.

I haven't had a chance to read through the last posts...DS3 has been "helping" with my internet usage. :)

Just wanted to update...We arrived safely at Windsor Hills last night (Sat. 14). Our townhouse was just as promised so now DH wants to check out some of the local real estate.

It did take us longer to get here then planned--On Friday, I drove to Indianapolis to pick up DH. Then from Indy, we headed toward Florida. i-65 in Louisville had some construction that delayed us. When we got to Nashville TN, DS had a potty accident so we had to stop and clean up. By now, we've been on the road for 6 1/2 hours this day, but only 1 hour away from home. :rotfl: Almost to Chattanooga and there was a pretty bad wreck that snared travel up. We finally said, enough and slept in Dalton, GA. Next morning, up and out. The drive through Atlanta was really open. Surprise! Got all the to Florida and DS's house. We should have picked up the Florida Turnpike, but Garmin found us a path that kept us away from all toll roads and cut off 45 minutes!! Driving is not for everyone, but we enjoy it. I was seriously starting to question if we should start flying with all the mess on Friday.

Today, we went to Hollywood Studios. Final day of SWW. Expected crowds to be unbearable...But there was plenty of space. Used all our FP+. It was fun to scan our cards. DD and (future)DDIL rode RnRC with DH. Then around 1pm, they did Stand by for it. Only a 30 minute wait. Got off and a cast member asked them if they believe Disney makes magic. Answer--Of Course. The cast member handed them a paper fast pass and off they went back on the coaster.

We left the park around 5pm for a break. "Our feet are tired." We had planned on heading back in for Fantasmic, but as I sit here, everyone is just comfy and not interested in going back.

The thunderstorm just finished up. It was a long lasting one. For those caught outside in it, I hope you get warm and dry soon.

Tomorrow, Blizzard Beach and mini golf. Easy resort day.

Just arrived this afternoon and lots of magic!!! We booked GV at GF and were upgraded to LV at check- in :). We swam, ate and then went to MK for a few rides this evening. DH had issue with MagicBand at gate so spent about 20 min at guest services - but for his trouble they gave all 5 of us a voucher for a free ice cream treat and a 'use anytime' FastPass for tomorrow! Rain kicked in around 6:00 - we were waiting out one heavy downpour under umbrella at counter service next to Pooh - 2 cast members came out and asked us if we knew Mickey? Of course we all responded yes and she said that he makes really great ice cream and would like us to have some. She handed us a giant bowl of vanilla/chocolate ice cream with hot fudge and whipped cream and 2 cookies strategically placed as ears! It was a nice pick me up to the yucky rain. Then we noticed the rainbow :). Pretty good for arrival day I would say!!

Leaving in the morning.... so excited! I will try my best to bring our sunshine with me :)

@rainydayplay
WOOHOO!!!! Best wishes on your trip! I am thinking of getting some good ol' pop tarts for my breakfast. BUT (and you might think this is gross), my dad and I have a habit of grabbing jerky for breakfast if we are in a hurry.

@PinkBudgie
Wishing you the best too! I cant believe it's all happening!!!!

@MOpGrad2013 & DT83097
Glad you both made it safe and are enjoying your trips and some surprise magic! I would cry if some of that magic happened to my parents during our trip. :)

@sedaniel
Safe travels! Have a good time!!!

We are in the final purchasing of needed items and laundry/prep stage. DAYS away for us! Am I weird or does anyone else do the "wear junky clothes for the last few days" to make sure you dont have to re-wash something you REALLY want to wear RIGHT before you pack???

The part about driving for 6 hours and only being an hour from home sounds like one of my nightmares! :faint:
We used to drive up from CA to WA with our toddler twins. Gotta love those "bathroom emergencies"!

I'm wondering if we should bring an umbrella with us. We plan to buy ponchos, but would an umbrella be helpful too? Especially around the resort? We are flying so I'm trying to not bring extra things, but... :confused3

Leaving in the morning.... so excited! I will try my best to bring our sunshine with me :)
And I will try to bring my California No Rain with me. :rotfl:

I would totally eat beef jerky for breakfast! I prefer some sort of protein. And I am also going in to "Junky Clothes Mode" right now! :rotfl:
