****Official July 2021 Thread****

Well, fellow July Travelers, I find myself struggling with whether or not to use DME from the airport to the resort (I'm fine with it on the way back). Our plane gets in early on a Friday afternoon when I imagine there are plenty of other flights arriving, so there's no reason to believe the lines might be short. My understanding is they're still only using every other row, but that could obviously change between now and July. I know I could wait til we arrive and then decide, but that also means throwing myself upon the mercy of Uber and possible surge pricing.

How are YOU getting to the airport, and how are you feeling about DME? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Arrived at mco Sunday April 18th, at 1ish the me line spanned the entire length of the terminal. An Uber to the Poly was $32. No brainer to me.We arrive Wednesday around 3 on July 14th...if the me line is similar I’m again jumping in an Uber to SSR. Even if it’s $60 it’s worth it. The me line and trip at a minimum is 2 hours longer than taking an Uber. $60 for an extra 2 hours of vacation and park time as well as not having to stand in line is a bargain.

I love CRT, but don't want to go back until the princesses are back. Beaches n Cream is on my list too!

I think we'd definitely feel the same about princesses if we were traveling with kids but with my friend being such a big fan of Cinderella and just eating in the castle being her one big want to do (this is only her second time to Disney) it makes it kind of special for her!

Hope you get Beaches & Cream! We're excited - I haven't been in about 6 years.

Oh yeah, do it! Didn't mean to sound like it wasn't worth it to anyone.

Disney just dumped a lot more availability into July starting the 4th. If you haven't been able to get into the park you want, here's your chance.

I've been hearing a lot of rumors that the 4th is when capacity will make it to 50%, so maybe this is it.

We have only used DME in the past, but are renting a car for this trip! Planning a few days at the beginning to see things offsite. And with the bus waits issue as bad as it's been, we're not sad. We got a pretty good deal through my husband's employer loyalty program.

I've always liked the fact that DME was free and it was nice with small children to not lug around car seats. However we were already talking about renting a car from now on even before they announced it was ending. One Thanksgiving we had to wait 3 hours to get to the resort and we're usually the lucky ones who are 3-4 stops in before our turn to get off. Plus we can make a quick stop for groceries on our way in.
I have a feeling there are many many Uber trips in our Disney future this summer. Which is fine, we've always had terrific luck with the drivers there. Well, with one exception who was clearly practicing for the Indy 500... :car:

Since it's just me and my son (now my son's buddy as well), renting a car never appealed since I like to enjoy my adult beverages at the parks knowing someone else will be doing the driving. But if the buses are as nightmarish as many are making them out to be, I may follow your good example on our next trip, and then save the beverages for the resort!

Beaches n Cream has turned into the new CRT in terms of it being a Holy Grail of ADRs, hasn't it?
Just arrived today from Etsy 😊 though I love my ears thought the hat would serve a dual purpose keeping the sun off my face and covering up sweaty park hair 😉

You tipped the scales with this post, Pal. I now have a reservation with Tony. :thanks:

Thanks for the heads up!!! I truly TRULY hope it's only 50%. The CPs can't all make it back, obviously, and with the labor shortage in the hospitality / service industry, I can't help wondering how the heck they could manage to staff for more than 50%. :confused3

Oh well. I am 50 days out now, and even with all the uncertainty and concerns....

WELCOME ABOARD!!!! :mickeyjum As I told another first time guest earlier, PLEASE be sure to ask ALL the questions, no matter how big or small. It's a tricky time at The World, and there are hundreds of people here to help you have a magical trip. :dumbo:

Thank you! i have become obsessed with research for our trip that it is now a daily habit.

I have a split stay and today was my second booking day and I am so happy! I was able to get all of my ADRs except B&C, the cabana days I wanted, and a Savi res for my DS. There seemed to be a lot of good dining availability except for the B&C. Good luck with everyone's plans!

We drove home onthe 4th. once - up the East Coast and saw fireworks in just about every major city including D.C.

i forgot to mention that our ADRs were a success as well. We’ll be eating at the Rainforest Cafe AK and also the Sci-Fi Diner. These were the 2 places everyone could agree on, lol. The rest of the time is grab and go food.

For those who have gone before, what’s your average food budget? Also are there places
that don’t require reservations that are absolute “do not miss”?

We will be at all 4 parks during our visit. TIA

We are a family of 5 and on average, we spend about $50 per meal at the parks when we use quick service. We typically drink water though.

I can't speak to the budget, but for QS we love:
MK - Columbia Harbor House (currently their food is served at Tomorrowland Terrace, but could change back before July)
AK - Satuli Canteen (bowls of deliciousiticity), Nomad Lounge (yes, it's basically a bar, but the drinks are amazing and the nosh is first class, emphasis on the churros!!!)
HS - Baseline Taphouse (again, a bar, but beer selection is incredible and their charcuterie is excellent)
Epcot - You'll be there for the tail-end of F&G (July 5), so if you can pop over there and graze, by all means do!

About $125/person/day

We don’t have a specific budget but we keep it to around one ADR per day or slightly less with the rest QS or light snack.
