*OFFICIAL* July 2010 thread! It Was Hot, It Was Crowded...AND IT WAS AWESOME!!

we look stupid looking at a missing stitch.

i wish they didn't have these glitches but such is life i guess.

we'll just have to do it again.

guess it pays to check you're pics at the park before you get home. it's too late for us to get it added becuase i'm in a photopass group and i think they just ordered the disc

go to your local AC Moore, Micheals or other craft store and purchase one of the Stitch stickers (or you can find on-line stickers, photos, etc). Then just put the sticker in the person's hand right on the photo! It'll actually look even better in your album or scrapbook, b/c Stitch will POP out .. esp if you use one of the three dimensional stickers!

Totally off topic and I know but I had to share this with SOMEONE as I'm bursting at the seams! I finally decided to go to college to get a degree. I've decided to go for my Associates in Travel and Tourism so I can become a Strictly DisneyTA! The college I've chosen even goes in the running to have interns from WDW choose them! So when I go back to the world in 2 years I will be celebrating getting my Associate's degree!

Congratulations!! I would love to be a Disney TA.... Best of luck!

we are exhausted.

we left WDW around 4pm on friday and drove up to Savannah. Saturday we got a little later start then we wanted at left around 9.30 instead of 7ish like we wanted.

the trip was longer then i thought and we were expected in around 9pm

BUT

something happened on I77 and traffic was backed up for ages. and after 90 minutes of going 10 mph we decided to get off and punch in the most direct route instead of the fastest on the gps which would have gotten us into Canonsburg PA around 11.30.

i will NEVER do that again.

stay on the innerstate always.

we arrived at our hotel just after 1am exhausted and totally stressed from going through the mountians in the pitch black night and to boot it started raining. pouring actually.

my eyes were soooooo heavy and i finally gave up and asked dh to drive (a huge deal because i suffer from major motion sickness and usually can't go more then 10-15 minutes without feeling very sick) and he drove the last 90 minutes or so while i shut my eyes and i think fell asleep for 20 minutes or so but was up to help him find the hotel since it was pretty new and wasn't on google earth or my gps updates

we slept in (ya right - as much as you can with a 4 year old) and checked out by around 10am.

8 hours later we were home. and happy to see home too.

i didn't get out of bed until around 1pm today. i just flaked out.

i'm so happy to be home.

honestly i don't know how you guys do it year after year. we missed sooooo much i wanted to do

i think part of it was doing VA and GA the week before - I dont' think we'll add disney to another vacation again. it's just too much

We really used our maps to get off the interstate when there were back ups this trip and it worked well. But, we got back on the interstate as soon as it was clear. It saved a lot of time. We did have a hard time finding a hotel one night (I do not book ahead). It was going through West Virginia on I77, so you know where I mean. There is nothing for miles. We finally found one about 10pm. It was still an exhausting drive. I know how you feel!

Sorry your back is hurting, I completely understand what that is like (remember, my back went out in early June?). Sometimes no matter what you do it just hurts. I hope you feel much better soon. We're not going to WDW next summer either. We go every other summer. We're going to go on a Royal Caribbean cruise out of NJ instead, about 3 weeks into July 2011. We're going to book it in about 2 weeks from now!! I am thinking of putting a new ticker with next year's cruise...I can't bear to put the next Disney trip up yet, as it is more than 700 days away! :scared1:

I started my dining reviews before we left, and I managed to get 5 out of 18 done. I am doing it as a countdown, and I hope you guys check it out (there's food porn there!). The link is in my signature.

Thanks! Yes, I remember your back issues too. Have you been ok since then? Mine is much better now, but I am always paranoid!

That sounds awesome. I wish I had the courage to go back to school and do something like that.

I'm glad to see everyone had a great time. I haven't been on, since I have the post WDW blues. DH wants to do something different next year, so I'm trying to convince him of a Disney cruise to celebrate our 20th.

Sometimes getting on here is depressing when you are battling the blues. We do not know if we are going back next summer. DD will be looking at colleges, and we may take a year off since Fantasyland will be under construction. We have thought about Disneyland, and we have thought about just doing all the "other" Orlando parks. I just don't know if I could handle Orlando without Disney - lol.

Still popping by too! :goodvibes

I am still here too!! Not ready to abandon ship yet!!!

ohhhh i'm dying to go when the christmas decorations are up. i guess we'll have to wait until dd is much older even out of school

We did Thanksgiving one year....I absolutely loved it! Since then, our kids no longer get the Monday after Tgiving off, so it really cuts the trip short. I doubt we will make it back there for the holidays until they are out of school.

Hey guys!I am still going to be stopping by this tread from time to time too!
We probably will be summer trippers too for a while as my daughter is starting first grade this year! Though my mom wants to go during spring break in four years, I don't know if I could handle those crowds, even though the temps would be great!

I have been ok, for the most part, but I am still VERY careful when I work out. I haven't done any heavy weightlifting since my back went out a couple of months ago. I have been sticking to low impact aerobics and very light weights with high reps (3 or 5 pounds per weight). I'm also very careful when I bend, I don't lift up my kids anymore (that's the hardest part), and I don't carry very heavy packages. DH is so nice about it too. Poor guy had to pack most of the luggage into the car himself throughout the entire trip, plus I am a paranoid New Yorker, so I make him bring all the luggage into the hotel room when we are on the drive down and back up, for just a 1-night stay. Occasionally now I get a little twinge and get nervous, but at least I am aware of it and know what not to do. I seriously hope it never gets as bad as it was ever again! I'm glad you're feeling better now, and I completely understand being paranoid about it! Most women that I know who have had babies, have a back issue at some point.

I am glad you are doing better. It is wise to be careful too! I am a nurse and first hurt my back at work many years ago. Every once in awhile it acts up like this.

I have been having dreams about being back in Disney! I thought people were over exagerating when they talked about having the blues!!
I know I was to wait at least till 2012 when Fantasy Land is done but I don't know if I can't wait that long!!

Time for me to sign off this thread as well :(

Trina~I need to start sending you PM's about planning a trip for more then the 5 people in my family! I know I have 2 years but still I think I'm going to need them all!

Yes feel free to PM me and I will help yoou anyway I can!

I will be stick around too, although we are not planning another trip for two years and its doubtfull we will ever go back in july, we are thinking march for next time.

Just had major surgery yesterday so i dont know how much i'll be on this week but i'm still around!

Thanks! I think that once the back gets hurt badly, it can come back. It's just one of those things, unfortunately. Mine definitely feels better when I move around more though. I was nervous spending so much time in the car but thank goodness I was OK!

I understand about the blues! It will get better, it's the initial "shock" of being home after all the planning that makes you feel down about the trip being over already. We're not going back until July 2012. We decided when we bought the DVC membership to use it every other year for a nice long 10-night trip in a nice big 1-bedroom villa. It definitely made the trip more relaxing that way! SO, while it hurts to be back and for the trip to be over, there are always other trips to look forward to, and I told my kids we are lucky for that! ;)

Just wanted to share some good news for anyone who is still around, I had surgery on monday to remove some breast lumps and the biopsy results came back yesterday and everything is fine! I'm only 24 so there wasn't a huge worry, but it's still nice to know! Just had to share!

So sad this thread is dying down and all our trips are over or nearly over! You have all been a really friendly bunch of people and thanks for letting me share our up and downs with you! I'll be sticking around a little longer but for those that don't I hope to see you around the boards!

For anyone that is still around, when are you planning your next trip? Anyone know yet?

that's fantastic news Tri.

i'm here too. i love hearing about people's trips :)

we're looking at jan 2012. I just can't do the heat anymore. it kills me and we don't get even half the stuff done we want to.

dh used to run the marathons but since we had dd we've been going in the hot months - i have no idea why.

we're trying to get my older brother to come with us next time and being that we are dvc members i'm thinking about getting one of the 2 bedroom savannah views over at AKL

he will never become the disney nuts we are but i know he would have a fantastic time with dd who will be 6 then.

Such fantastic news!!! I'm so glad the lump was nothing serious.

Within 1 week of coming back from our July trip, we planned a trip for the 5 days before Thanksgiving!! This was just impromptu since I found out school will be out that entire week of Thanksgiving.

Then we plan to go back in May 2011.

Our AP expire in July so ... 3 trips in one year.:cool1:

That's great news! You are young, but it is still scary when you go through anything like that. I'll be sticking around here for a while longer. I have enjoyed planning the trip and sharing with everyone here too! Everyone has been so nice and so friendly throughout the whole journey!

Our next WDW trip will be in July 2012. So in about a year from now I will be able to book through DVC Member Services. By late Spring next year, or early summer, I will know the exact date so that I can book exactly 11 months out!

Wow, so lucky to get 3 trips out of your AP! Did you also get the TiW card? It is also good for one year, so if you have it then hold onto it! If not, you may want to consider it since it gives you 20% off at restaurants, including alcohol. We loved it for our trip! It really saved us a lot, plus we just ordered what we wanted without having to worry about what is covered on a dining plan.

Have fun planning your November trip, which is SOON!!! Then you get to go back 6 months later...I'm jealous! :goodvibes

That is awesome news. I had a cyst removed when I was 30 and thankfully it was nothing.

So glad for you that it was nothing!

Like Marshay, we will get three trips out of our APs. We are headed back in either Jan or Feb. It depends when DH gets vacation time. Also, we will do July again (or late June into July...)

There is a July 2011 thread, but I didn't know anyone! :sad2:

Excellent that you get to go back 2 more times within a year!!!

Wow a July 2011 thread already! Is it too early to start one for July 2012? :rotfl2:

Yeah, this is the first time we are doing 3 trips in one year. I am excited but have to really scale back my planning since I can't just focus on one trip. Oh, to have such a dilemma!:rotfl2:

Yes, we did buy a TIW card in July for the first time. Since I had my parents and sister's family join us, it paid for itself in one trip...well I had to pay the $75 myself and they got the discount! It would have been nice if they had bought me a drink or meal. Instead my "cheapo-Dad" (and I do say that lovingly) told me, well, it's not really like a discount b/c they charge you 20% tip! :confused3Yeah, dad, but you would still give a 20% tip so it IS saving you money! Oh well.. I just couldn't get him to understand.;)

I do like the freedom of being able to order appetizers and drinks and still get 20% off. I like to do an appetizer meal sometimes and couldn't do it with the DDP.

what is the twi card?

do you have to have the annual pass to get it?

TiW=Table in Wonderland. You have to be either an AP holder or a FL resident to buy it. $75 for AP holders (good for one year), $100 for FL residents (good for one year). Gives you 20% off at TS restaurants, but very few CS places. They add in an 18% gratuity but this is great for us as it is convenient so we don't have to figure it out ourselves. We always overtip anyway!

To us, it saves us a lot. We always tip around 20% on our own, so this is still a HUGE savings for us! Loved that when I had a glass of wine of other alcoholic beverage, those were discounted too!

I had an app as my lunch at San Angel and loved not having to worry about it being covered! :goodvibes

oh, was the tip only 18% ... I couldn't remember if it was 18 or 20%...we typically tip 20% so if it was only 18%, then we saved money on that too! Although we did tip extra at one place when the waitress was outstanding.

Yeah, I actually ordered one of those "magical glow" alchohol drinks ... I think they were like $10 each, but I figured it was a special occasion (my birthday) and 20% off!
