*OFFICIAL* July 2010 thread! It Was Hot, It Was Crowded...AND IT WAS AWESOME!!

why is everyone leaving???

some july people are still there

I'd like to see people stick around too. TR are nice, but it's nice to be able to go to one place to talk to our July people.

I'll be sticking around! Kurby is right, some July 2010 people are still at WDW...and I have enjoyed talking with everyone here the past few months!

We don't go back to WDW until July 2012...I love hearing about other people's trips in the mean time, and to keep up on all the Disney info as there are new developments! :)

i don't think we'll ever do july again but it definately was an experience i'll never forget

Most times I have gone to Disney it was the middle of the summer. My parents took me and my sister there twice when we were kids, both times were in August. Both times DH and I took our kids was in July, and we will continue going every other year in July as the boys grow up. We're teachers, they're in school now, we stay for 10 nights, and we drive down from NYC. The only time we have the time to do all of that is in the summer.

I went to Disney twice when it was not summer yet. In high school, I was in the chorus and we participated in the All American Music Festival my freshman and junior years of high school, along with the band from our school as well. Both times we went in early May. It was nice!

Our DVC membership is good until the year 2042. DH and I plan to retire in the year 2032 (I know...far, far away!). At that point, we plan to enjoy Disney during the off-season, cooler months! G-d willing, of course!

our dvc is up in 2057 :):):)

dh used to run the marathons so we used to go in january - that's the month i love. cool evenings nice days and no crowdes.

i'm pushing to go back to januarys even if it means pulling dd out of school for a few days after the christmas break goes back.

we'll have to see how she's doing during the first part of the year before i make the final decision but that's what i'm hoping for

Growing up, we only did Disney during the summer. I have only been to Disney three times when it wasn't summer. One time in November in high school, one time in May for our senior class trip in high school, and then fin November again for our honeymoon. I have to say, even though it is hot, there is just something about Disney for me in the summer time. November was nice, but both times were actually a little cool for me. I don't like swimming if it's not hot, so even though it was in the upper 60s, it was just not swimming weather for me. I love Disney in the summer. That being said, if someone gave me a Disney trip... I would go whenever they wanted me to go. ;)

I wish we could go in January! It's low points for DVC members, and so much cooler than the summer!!! I can't imagine ever needing a jacket at WDW...it would be a whole new concept for me!

the first time we went in january i couldn't believe how cold i was at 6am

i was standing at the start line for dh's run and i was shaking so bad. people around me had winter coats and mits on.

but only an hour and a half later they were lugging them around while i just had a spring jacket.

even though we flew and i had my winter coat i didn't bring it to the starting line - foolish me lol

the days are sooooo nice and the evenings are even better to walk around

We have done 4 Jan. at WDW ...SOME OF MY FAVE TRIPS. Our kids get 2 days off to go with a weekend here the end of Jan. It is the semester break so we have taken them out 2 days to go with the days off and the weekend and have had great trips. VERY LOW CROWDS. It is after MLK weekend so it is wonderful as far as crowds go. Of course NOW dd is in college and her schedule doesn't mesh with the boys. :sad2: We have also gone 4 times the Thursday before Thanksgiving...another GREAT WEATHER TRIP. LOVE it there then too. The decorations are up and it is just so nice. :cloud9:

ohhhh i'm dying to go when the christmas decorations are up. i guess we'll have to wait until dd is much older even out of school

We are SKIPPING WDW next summer. We have been to WDW in the summer 4 times in a row now. I have decided that if we are vacationing in the summer it will be at the BEACH. :rotfl2: We ended our 2 weeks in FL with 4 days at Vero. It was relaxing but we didn't care that much for Vero. Next time we do a split we will hit HHI on the way home.

We do enjoy our summer trips to Disney, but since we have been in May, Nov. and Jan. we know there are so many nicer cooler times to go. Plus as our kids have gotten older they really ENJOY the resorts now more than getting up early when it is so hot to hit the parks. They would rather sleep in, and hit a park every other day and go to the water parks or swim at the resort now more in the summer. Our youngest son (11) said on day 5 of our 10 day trip at Disney this July "We have not even relaxed on this trip yet" :scared1: RIGHT THEN we took a day off from the parks. So as we continue to "DVC" we are changing the way we vacation at Disney especially in the summers. :goodvibes

Keep us posted!

So weird!!! We were there July 18-23 and didn't get one single DRIP of rain except for a little light sprinkle around 5:00 one day. It's so funny how it can be POURING at one park and still be sunny at another. The only rain we really saw was the day we were leaving. Friday, the 23rd, we went to MK until about 1:00 and then went back to AKL to get the car and drive to DTD. As soon as we got to DTD it started pouring BUCKETS.

Do you know that when we were there the 11th through the 20th...it was like that too. Our friends were at BLT and it was POURING and POURING but at SSR it was not raining.

I would love to do that too. Since, DH is a wrestling coach and Christmas is prime wrestling season, that probably won't happen anytime soon. Maybe when the LOs are bigger I'll take them by myself.

Me too, but I don't think we will until we retire. DH and I are both teachers so we can't just take a few days off to go to WDW during the less-crowded time when WDW is decorated. Plus the kids are in school now so the only time would be Christmas week, and I have no desire to do that.

We talk about going twice right after retirement...once for just a few days Food & Wine (if they still have it...this is 22 years away after all! :rotfl2:), and another trip, some time shortly after Thanksgiving weekend ends, to see decorations but before crowds get terrible. It will be a LONG time until then...oh well, we can dream right? ;)

How did you enjoy Disney??? I haven't been on here much so I am trying to catch up.

Thanks for asking! We had a blast! We tried AKV, BCV, and BWV, and I am glad that we did try all three. Moving from one to another was only a pain because I over-packed! :rotfl: The drive was relatively easy and we will probably do it every summer in order to save money to fly in the winter.

To add to the current conversation, I too am a teacher, and DH is a mailman. He is unable to take off near holidays when our daughters and I have off (MLK and Pres. etc.) so I took a couple personal days and took the girls out of school for a couple of days for a long weekend in Feb 09. (We had a family wedding in Oct last year, so no winter Disney trip.) One morning it was about 30 deg at the bus stop; I called my mom and learned that it was with wind chill about -10 Deg. By that afternoon, it was a nice 70.

We plan on going again this Feb. (Actually, I have a contract to be signed in my email to purchase more points (at SSR).) We also plan on going next June/ July (have to plan around APs this time!)

I've gone every month to WDW except October (and I really want to go to the Halloween party).

We just booked a last minute trip for November, the 5 days before Thanksgiving in order to see all the Christmas decorations, castle and OL. We've seen them twice before and love them ... and I can't wait to go w/o the heat of July.

Then we plan to go again in May. We got an AP so trying to get 3 trips out of it before it expires.

also I have a couple of pictures that were supposed to have special shots but don't..is there a way to get that fixed?

I just heard back from the Photopass customer service and they said they fixed my missing Tinkerbell photo.

So if you're missing any special photos, just write to them and they can add it in.:thumbsup2
