So can I use this thread to get some feedback on our general plans for the trip? I think I've come up with a pretty good plan for us and the way we work. Some background that might help with feedback: kids are 14 and one turns 13 the day after we arrive. We got the 6 day Park-hopper with water parks & more and Deluxe dining July 21 - 26.

We do like to take our time at meals and get out of the heat for a while, so we did make a lot of ADR's but I may end up cancelling a couple of the lunch ones and going with QS just so we're not in a hurry to get from one place to another. We like do have things at a fairly relaxed pace, but we do want to do as much as we can in the 6 days we have without feeling hurried and stressed. It's more of a big deal to us to just be relaxed and have fun than to be too concerned if we miss an attraction we want to see.

That said - here's my plans from my handy-dandy spreadsheet.

Wednesday: I will already be in Orlando over at the World Center Marriott at a conference and can leave there any time Wednesday morning to get over to the Boardwalk (any suggestions on transport - should I just call for a taxi?) I may book myself a massage at the spa before they arrive!
Dh and kids flight arrives 1:55 PM, so I'm assuming they'll arrive at the resort around 3ish.

Have ADR at Cape May at 5:40 that night, but have no other plans for the evening. I figure we'll stroll the Boardwalk, hang at the pool and/or maybe check out Downtown Disney or if we're feeling really adventurous maybe check out a little of Epcot or Hollywood Studios.

Thursday: Breakfast at Kouzzina then to Blizzard Beach - for the morning. No lunch ADR. We'll stay at BB till we feel done (probably 1ish) and then back to the hotel to change and head to Epcot. ADR is at 7:40 PM for Teppan Edo. We're hoping to catch Illuminations after dinner.

Friday: Breakfast at Donald's Safari and the morning in AK. We expect AK will be the least amount of time we spend at any park. We're not huge zoo people, but the kids do want to check out Expedition Everest. (Truth be told, I'm wondering if we shouldn't just skip AK altogether on this trip and hope to catch it another trip...thoughts???) Then over to MK. I made a Crystal Palace lunch rezzie for 2:00 PM. We expect to spend the rest of the day/evening at MK - ADR at Tony's Town Square at 6:05, and there's EMH that night.

Saturday: Breakfast at Captain's Grille the over to Typhoon Lagoon for the morning. Made ADR at Hollywood Studios for Sci-Fi Dine In (may cancel this one - don't want to be in a rush from the water park) at 2:35 PM. Have ADR for Chef Mickey's at 7:30 for dinner then no firm plans for the evening. Maybe back to HS for EMH or something else - depends on what we're in the mood for.

Sunday: Breakfast at Princess Storybook Dining in Epcot and lunch at Marrakesh - basically the day in Epcot, then over to HS for dinner and hopefully Fantasmic. Have ADR for Mama Melrose at 6:40, so hopefully we'll be done in time to get in line for Fantasmic after. Couldn't get the dinner package except with a really early dinner reservation and we didn't want to do that.

Monday: We'll have to leave for the airport around 3PM. Breakfast at Cape May and didn't make specific plans so we could go back to whatever was our favorite or something we missed.

Big question - for crowds etc. might we be better off doing Typhoon Lagoon on Monday morning before we leave for the airport and doing something else Saturday morning? Am I second-guessing and over-thinking too much.

I tried to not over-plan, but did want to make sure we had some decent structure and dining plans. We didn't do any signature dining and I'm kinda open to shifting stuff around - paying for a couple QS meals if there's something *really cool we should do.

So...sorry so long - any thoughts, ideas, suggestions? Did I do ok for a newb? :-)

So can I use this thread to get some feedback on our general plans for the trip?

ABSOLUTELY!! I'll give you my thoughts on your plans.

I think I've come up with a pretty good plan for us and the way we work. Some background that might help with feedback: kids are 14 and one turns 13 the day after we arrive. We got the 6 day Park-hopper with water parks & more and Deluxe dining July 21 - 26.

OOOoooh, what a nice treat for yourself! I say go for it! Not sure about transportation. Getting a cab sounds good to me!

I think it's a good idea to have a relaxing first night. And it's good that you have the option to go to a park in case you just can't wait!

Sounds good! Get to your ADR a little early. They might be able to take you earlier so you can be out for Illuminations for sure. You can't miss it!

First of all, AK is NOT a zoo!! :rotfl: In fact, I don't think about a zoo at all when I'm at the AK. When I think zoo, nothing about AK comes to mind. I think that saying AK is half-day park is completely wrong, but I understand everyone has their likes and dislikes. There is so much to see and explore as well as some great rides! I wouldn't skip it this time. Do you have an early breakfast? Try to hop on the Safari right after breakfast. At least do Everest, Kali and Dinosaur, I think the kids would really like those three.

Saturday: Breakfast at Captain's Grille the over to Typhoon Lagoon for the morning. Made ADR at Hollywood Studios for Sci-Fi Dine In (may cancel this one - don't want to be in a rush from the water park) at 2:35 PM. I can't help but wonder why you are spending so much time at the water parks when you only have a few days for the trip. Don't you think you might want to spend some more time in MK. :confused3 Not trying to bash your plans, just giving my thoughts!

Sci-Fi is fun! I like that you leave some room for "whatever you're in the mood for!"

Sunday: Breakfast at Princess Storybook Dining in Epcot and lunch at Marrakesh - basically the day in Epcot, then over to HS for dinner and hopefully Fantasmic. I think you did GREAT for a newb!! Again, just wondering why so little MK time. I like that you have set times for each park and also some times to go back and go wherever you feel you need more time. Hope I was able to help!

Oh, good idea to get there early! That night is my son's B-day too. Do you know if we can order a cake for Teppan Edo?

LOL - I know it's not a zoo...I wasn't sure how to put it...let's just say for us, AK is probably the lowest on our priority list. Still, I would like to see it and I bet there's lots to take pictures of! But, if push comes to shove and something had to go, AK would be it this trip.

Saturday: Breakfast at Captain's Grille the over to Typhoon Lagoon for the morning. We're just really big water park people. Our kids are big into water stuff, and so are we, so we're really excited about trying out two water parks in one trip.

As for MK - I agree, I'd like to spend a little more time there myself. I'm thinking that's where we may end up on Monday if we don't switch out water park days. We're really excited about Epcot and HS and want to spend a lot of time there. It's just SO hard to decide where to spend the most time! The good thing is the day we are at MK is EMH that night, so we can stay late and we're night owls, so that should work out nicely!

Thanks SO much for your feedback and ideas - I really appreciate it! Since we've never had a family vacation before I want this to be just really fun and relaxed. These boards are great and I totally appreciate people sharing their experiences and thoughts. It's awesome!

I spend alot of my time over on the creative boards and have come up with come great transfers..BUT then someone said something about me having my daughter's name on her shirts and it kinda spooked me so I kinda put a hold on the shirts..Amazingly I got my husband to go along with wearing a shirt(he is so not the matching shirt kinda guy)..You could always get your guy to wear a grumpy shirt that says I Don't Do Matching Shirts!!:rotfl:

Tinkerbell60 - Thanks for the warm welcome. Tell your DH the hopping is a piece of cake. We have done split stays twice before and have not had any problems. Bell services are great with the luggage. This is the first time we will be trying 3 resorts in one trip, but I'm sure it will be fine. As long as you don't mind the checking in process that much (and we are fine with it) you are good to go!

Disney makes it easy for those of us who can't choose just one resort while visiting!

Good luck with the convincing. :)

We have done split stays too - but I can't convince him to go for three. The first time we did a split, our room had plumbing problems, and it was literally 8-9 hours we were without a room. That kinda ruined him. Now that we drive it helps, because we can move our own luggage - but he hates the repacking and unpacking. We are doing a split this summer, first 5 nights at the CR then 8 nights in 2 rooms at the All Stars Sports.

I love it! That's a great idea!!!
I know what you mean about the names. I was even thinking if we just wear the same character every day.
I'm going to try and suit up DD in Disney stuff ahead of time so I don't feel the need to buy when we are there. If she's already wearing a Cinderella shirt, maybe I won't feel the need to buy her one...
OH, we'll see... best laid plans...

I love the beginning of March....I always remember that saying that March is "in like a lion, out like a lamb." It helps me know that it will be spring soon!! Although looking out the window right now, you would never think spring! We have already been called for an early dismissal today and I'm positive we will have a snow day tomorrow.

I just changed a couple of our dining reservations for July 25. We're doing Marrakesh earlier at 11:40 instead of 12:30 and I changed our dinner reservations - canceled Mama Melrose at 6:40 to to the Fantasmic dinner package at Holllywood & Vine at 3:55. A little early for dinner, but it's all good :-) I wanted less waiting time at Fantasmic.

I'm getting REALLY excited. I wish it wasn't so far away...

Welcome! I know, can you believe this snow?! Thoughts of Florida in the summer is the only thing getting me through! We stayed at the Poly for our honeymoon last year. It was divine!

Welcome!! We'll be at POR too, although not at the same time. POR is the resort I've stayed at the most. I think you made a great choice for your first even onsite visit!!

If either of you have made ADRs, I'd be happy to add them to the master list on the top of pg. 7!
