Working on earning a free trip to WDW in July with my company and am WELL on my way!! I'm so excited, but will hold off stating our plans until things are official.

We are WDW vets, but have never ever gone in the summer. We just did 2 weeks, including NYE, from Dec. into January and it was freezing. Crowds we understand, but I can't imagine battling the heat and humidity. Makes me nervous! :scared1: Tell me we'll love it just as much as winter!

Welcome, keep us posted on your plans!

You will love it in July - because it is Disney!! The crowds will probably seem a lot lighter after experiencing NYE. It does get hot, and you will drink a LOT of water. but, you won't need to carry around jackets and you won't miond getting wet on Splash Mountain - well, maybe. We find taking a break in the afternoon and returning to the parks in the evening when the sun goes down helps. If you can do EMH - that is great - we love the late night EMH at MK. There is a lot of good advice here.

I have gone in July before and it is VERY HOT!!!! That's what I'm nervous about. Taking a 3 yr old and being at the park ALL DAY just so we don't get locked out may prove a bit difficult. I heard July 3rd can be just as bad as July 4th. I think I can get my 9 & 14 yr olds to hang in there. Also going to book dinner at Crystal Palace (if I can) so we'll at least get a break during lunch and dinner. I'm sure my girls will LIVE at splash mt as that's their fav ride. Maybe I can get my mom to keep my 3 yr old. hmmmmm...thinking, thinking....:rotfl:

DH and I will be there. Our 4 grandkids and DIL will be having their first Disney experience! DS hasn't been there since the 70's!

ADR's:
7/8 Kona Cafe
7/11 CM
7/12 LTT
7/15 Grand Floridian Cafe

Welcome!!! Sounds like you fun!! If you want to give me your ADR times, I'll post them on the list on the top of page 7.

We've gone in July for years. Three times we were there over the 4th of July and have never been locked out. I would not stay all day in the park with a 3 year. We've always gone to the MK on the 3rd of July at rope drop. We leave after lunch, go back to the resort for a swim/nap and then come back to MK for dinner at LTT. We then find spot for the 4th of July preview fireworks at MK. On the 4th we always go to EPCOT, have an early ADR for the Princess Storybook breakfast and then after lunch go back to the resort again. At night we go over to EPCOT to watch the 4th of July Illuminations.

Believe me, I've gone with 3 year olds and it is definitely a mistake to think a 3 year old will last all day in the park without a nap/swim rest. If the worse that happens is that you are locked out on the 3rd take the monorail over to the GF or the Poly and watch the fireworks from there.

HTH.

staying at hampton inn on kirkman, thanks for the welcome...disboards truly brightens my day!!!

we're getting free breakfast offsite which seems to be a good deal...we can get a taxi to citywalk...and weirdly i like the bustle of international drive

and all this waiting will make my first on property stay so much sweeter!!!

nikki, really would love to do the segway tour!!! had kind of put it out of my mind because we're literally doing everything, universal, disney, seaworld, kennedy space centre, waterpark etc and was worried we has enough organised...

but...its now back in contention...bf is secretly a bit of a geek and think i might try to organise it as a surprise if only i can keep my lips zipped til july!!!

You can't beat the free breakfast offsite - that saves a bundle! That is why we are staying offsite for spring break. The Disboards brighten my day too!! DH gets tired of hearing about Disney - but there is always someone here you can "talk" to.

I agree - I don't think July 4th is as bad as it would seem. We were there two years ago, and though crowded, still not as bad as spring break. I don't think Epcot closes very often because it is so big, and there is always DHS and DTD to see fireworks. So, lots of options.

Yeah...DH said the same thing. We will be staying in DTD so we will watch the fireworks from somewhere some kind of way. ;o)

Thanks for the advice.

I haven't posted in a couple of days so i just wanted to pop in and say hi to everyone! My trip planning has kind of been put on a halt bc dbf just found out he might have to go away for training the whole month of july:scared1:
He says it isnt definite, so we are still planning on going the 24th but we might have to cancel because thats the only time we would be able to go :sad2:

Oh, no! I really hope the training ends early so you guys can go!

Hey guys! How's everyone tonight? Not too much activity on this thread today....

Anyone make any new ADRs?

DH got his vacation approved so I was about to book our flights tonight until I realised that I still hadn't changed my OnePass info on Continental to my new name. When we went in Oct. I had to bring my marriage cert...they never asked for it, as I had my old and new license. They really seemed to care less but I'd rather just have it right and now worry about it. The prices already went up $20 since the last time I looked so hopefully they won't go up anymore before they change my name!!

Do it!! You gotta do it! You'll love it! And if you book it, make sure you don't book any tours after 9 because it's 2 hours and World Showcase opens to the public at 11:00. Originally I booked the 9:30 tour but then I realized that we'd be riding around WS with other people for the last 1/2 hour if we did that so I switched it to 9.

Some pics of our tour!

So excited:dance3: dbf told me today that since we already had a vacation planned, they aren't making him go in July for training! I feel so much better now! last week i was so depressed because i was planning on canceling, and now we are definitely going! I was so excited before I called disney and upgraded us to club level! i figured we might not be going to disney for a long time after this, because the only reason we can afford it is because of the generous military deals these past 2 years SO lets splurge and make the best of this trip!!!!
Nikki, do you recommend the segway tour? is it worth the money>? is it really hard to drive those things? lol I was trying to talk DBF into trying it but he is convinced that I won't be able to do it. :lmao: ( I want to prove him wrong!) I just love the idea of being able to explore WS without the crowds and I would love to learn more about it. BTW i love your pictures!

:cheer2: That is great news!! We did Poly Club level last year - you will love it. However, it will spoil you! One thing I learned last year, if you want any special things - like special cereals etc, let IPO know before you go - they can get things like Rice Krispies if you let them know in advance. Also, if it rains, they have DVDs you can borrow at the Concierge desk - there are DVD players in all the rooms. It is a great location too.

Oh I'm so excited for you!!!

You should definitely do the segway tour!! It's not that expensive and it's definitely worth it!! The first hour is dedicated to teaching you how to ride a segway. It's very easy to pick up on and they make sure everyone is okay before going out into World Showcase. Then you just ride around!! They stop at a few countries and give you a little bit of info but it's really more for the experience of riding the segway than getting tons of inside information. You take about a 15 minutes stop in Italy to free ride around and take some pics. (The rule is that if you want to take a picture, you have to step off your segway.) I was kind of mad that they were in the process of taking down the wand when we did it so it's not the best SE picture but it's still something that I'll always remember.

Jeez, you guys are making me want to book this tour again...maybe I can talk DH into it....
