Does anyone have experience with late check outs on Sunday?
Does anyone have experience with late check outs on Sunday?
I am doing intervals as well...but have not figured out the best ratio of run to walk yet, I am stuck around a 15 min mile still myself...I am hoping the race will get me excited and pick up my pace a tiny bit I just fear being swept!
I hope your back is feeling better!

I'll most likely follow suit with everyone else, but do most goofy runners wear all 3 medals, or just the actual goofy medal? I can imagine wearing all 3 would get heavy and loud after awhile.
I probably wouldn't wear it to Universal, only because most rides you'd have to take it off and put it in a locker.
OK, I have a serious question. If my marathon goes REALLY badly, but I'm still ahead of the sweepers, can I get on a ride and then get back on course, if the parks are open?

To defer, or not to defer...
Looks like I'm not going to be able to finish my first Goofy, due to an ankle injury. I could probably still finish the half.
The question is, do I just do the half and call it a weekend, or do I try to defer. Travel arrangements are all in place. I emailed rundisney, and I have to make a decision today.
The problem with deferring, is that we have a full family trip to Disney scheduled 1 month before 2013 Marathon weekend.
Help!
That's fantastic John!I guess I must have been one of the real annoying people,, since I wore all three medals plus the 5K Buzz and Woody medallion and a 3.1, 13.1. 26.2 medallion DW made for me for being Dopey.
After all, it was only my 2nd 5K, 2nd half marathon and first full marathon so I went all out with the bling.![]()
That's fantastic John!
I will hopefully be able to say the same thing this January when I run my 2nd 5k, 2nd half and 1st full!
Any suggestions that you'd like to share for those of us who will be experiencing our 1st marathon while completing the Goofy challenge?
Its really easy.... Trust your training. Nothing more complicated than waking up on Sunday, going through your routine that you have practiced with every long run and then heading out the door.
Since you are running on tired legs, take the first mile slower than normal. Fall back a corral to two if needed but try to run the first mile a minute or so too slow. Chances are that you will hit something between training and race pace. Your goal is to get through the 180 exit corner from Epcot Dr into the Epcot Parking slower than you would do on a normal day. Once in the parking lot its tougher to control pace since the visual references are further away. Then at mile 3 you are in the park and once there you should start trying to hold the pace you want to run.
Your fatigue point will hit earlier on Sunday than expected. Understand that somewhere between turing onto Bear Island Rd at the half and the turn around on Osceola at mile 20.5 you will have to pull a few tricks out of the training tool box. Its normal and you will get through it.
Good luck and wear the medal well.
