Thanks Coach!!!!!
How's this for my plan? (depending on doctor's orders)
Dec. 17: 20 miles
Then start three week taper or rest Dec. 17, run Dec. 26 & just do a two week taper?

I am thinking they are trying to prevent heal strikes from downs, but I would definitely defer to the doc.
I would keep the shaker ice for minor issues. You can stop just outside the med tent for an ice job. Most techs are excellent at wrapping a small ice bag to an injury.
I will also be following my husband. We will do the half together and then like yours he will be doing the goofy. We are bringing our motorhome over to epcot from fort wilderness so that if I can not get to him all the time I will have somewhere to hang out if the weather is bad. Hope to see you there.

had friends bring their RV in the both races a couple years back. make sure to come over early i.e. arrive by 3 to get a better parking spot. Else you will arrive in the crowd and may end up half way to MK - yikes.
I read and will obey. Since I will most likely be unable to sleep, we might be heading over to EPCOT at 1:00AM both mornings. Once there we can grab a little shut-eye.
Like that will really happen.![]()
Make sure to set your alarm. I drove over in 06 in my rental and promptly fell asleep. I was so calm once making the parking lot that the need for sleep kicked in. My saving grace was the guys next door hitting their panic button instead of trunk button.
Hit the gym at 6am -- 14 miles (13 at race pace) on the indoor track.
I've met my training goals and am starting to taper![]()
I'm not quite ready to taper just yet, although after a 50k trail run last weekend and a 22 mile long run coming up this week, I'm certainly looking forward to it.![]()
Well, I ran today. I just couldn't hold off any longer. I only did 4 miles and I slowed it down to an 8:15 pace. I have no pain!!!!!
I think I'm going to do a few more short runs this week and go ahead and try for the 20 or 22 mile lr this Friday or Saturday. I can always call my hubby to come and get me if I feel any pain.
I'm just sooooooo happy to be running again.![]()
This is my first half marathon. Am I going to be totally screwed if my longest run is only 11? I was following Higdon's plan, but did start a week early to add an extra long run at 11, but now I am getting nervous that I won't have done enough. I am generally right around a 9 min. pace.

My longest will be 10 (a 15K with the difference in warm up and cool down). I'm not stressing it. I'm following John Bingham and Jenny Hadfield's run/walk plan and this IS the longest run/walk of the plan (their marathon plan takes you to 20). As they say, at some point you have to trust your training. They've certainly gotten enough people through on this and similar plans, and they've done it themselves...so I'm willing to trust them, to trust the plan, and to trust myself.
After all, it's Disney where "I believe!" is a big part of the magic!
Not hardly!
Depending on how your build up progression went and your race effort you may start to feel the effects at mile 11, but it's only two more miles.
As a frame of reference there is are a few full marathon programs that cap the long run at 16 miles.![]()
