Hi all!
Been reading and not posting for quite some time now.

I've been following the Galloway plan for this run, which will be my first 10-miler (and first Disney race). The 10K I did last month was my first race ever, so this is pretty exciting stuff for me.
I had an absolutely disastrous run a week ago - I was slated to do 10 and only made it 5.6 before slamming into the wall.

I was underfed, underhydrated, and it was ridiculously humid. I got pretty down on myself for a day or two, but runner friends (and others!) told me it's all par for the course. Now I look at it as a rite of passage.

I got back in last week, taking longer midweek runs, but not crazy long - 4 on Monday night and 6.2 on Wednesday night. Did 3 tonight, and now I'm trying not to overthink next weekend's 11! The course I follow here has more elevation than we'll have at the event, so I'm hoping that means I'll be able to pick up the pace just a smidge on race night.
I'm not going costume crazy my first time out here because I don't know how well I'd do with a lot of stuff. So I'm going for deconstructed Maleficent - lime green run top, purple sparkly skirt, and black accents. It's in the spirit, right?
We'll be at BW that weekend, and I'm psyched we can walk to the start - the transportation has me more nervous than the race!

We have dinner reservations at Il Mulino (with friends) at 5pm. Gotta figure out the best plan of action for that meal still, but I think I'm getting the hang of it now that I've been doing my training runs in the evening.
Tonight was glorious - mid-60s after being crazy humid and in the 90s the past several days. And all it took was a tornado coming through to cool us off.
Home stretch!
XO
