Official inaugural Tower of Terror 10 miler thread. September 29, 2012

This is my first big run where the start is separating into corrals, I am officially confused ? I run about a 10mm and stated as such on my entry with anticipated finish time and race result supporting finish. My Bib number is 5228 which I thought seemed kind of high.
Is this number placing me in corral C correct or I am just not understanding how this all works.

Thanks

Did you give proof of time? That is, your record from an "officially" timed race. I ask because I have a lower corral number and I'm a slower runner...

I would wonder the same thing. If your submitted time was not accepted or perhaps they couldn't find your official race time. Bring proof of time with you to the expo and you can have your corral bumped up.

What type of compression shorts do you use? I have a pair of Under Armour and they ride up a little bit. I would love to find a pair that isn't too short and will stay where they belong.

Under Armour compression shorts for men are available in a longer length.

Purchased Starter long compression shorts at Walmart-$10.00. They work for me and a low price.

Just a heads up: My mom was having issues locating her waiver for the 5K so she had to contact Active and then Disney. (her b-day got entered as 2011 instead of 19**) The person from RunDisney said their site got pirated and information that is going out right now is not correct and her waiver would not be ready until next week.

I don't know how accurate this is and I don't know if it's only for the 5k. Just a heads up.

Edited to Add: He said their FB site so I don't know why the waivers would be incorrect since that is on the Active site.

So I have a question....

What is the deal with the WISH meetup? Will there be one? Where will it be held? I am totally new to Disney races and was told about the WISH meetups and would love to go to the one for this race. Any info would be awesome, I appreciate it!

Thanks for the info on compression shorts. I will check out Walmart. I have an outlet mall in town, so I will hit Nike and Under Amour this weekend. :thumbsup2

I'm still trying to decide on a costume, both character and WHAT to wear.

What are you wearing?

Shorts, capris, pants?

Tank top, shirt, long sleeve or short sleeve?

Planning for cold?

I have been in Disney in Sept/Oct and most nights it's been comfortable, so I think I am going for running shorts. If I decide to add a tutu, I might switch to a tighter fitting short. I'm just not sure. :confused3

Definitely not planning for cold - late Sept. is still summer here in Florida! Even if the air temp gets below 75, the asphalt will likely have been baking in the sun all day; it takes many hours for that to cool off after sunset. I'm not dressing up - just wearing a tried-and-true sleeveless tech shirt and running skort. No rain = BondiBand; rain = hat. :thumbsup2

I haven't seen anything about a WISH meetup yet. Someone usually posts something on the WISH Facebook page a little closer to the event.

Thanks for the replies about costumes. I am still trying to figure out what I am doing. It will have purple in it, since I always run with purple and my shoes are purple and black. I'm playing around with glow in the dark/light up ideas, but am not sure how feasible it is for 10 miles and heat!

I also want to do something with glow in the dark features but I'm not certain what products work best on a tech shirt. Please share if you decide to do this and what worked!

Who wants to teach me how to post everyone's reply when I answer? :confused3 I see others do it and that is one thing I have never learned.

I did submit my time but something seems to be amiss.I have proof ready go any idea who to speak to at the expo ?

Thanks all for the help

Who knows about the accuracy of this, but I just saw this posted on the Facebook page:

Corral placement
1-20 elite
21-2500 corral a
2501-5000 corral b
5001-7500 corral c
7501-10400 corral d

I a bib number 3239, so looks like corral B for me :)

FYI - I had some panic when I put in my name and DOB and got NOTHING on the track shack link. I had my printed confirm, so I knew I would be okay, but I decided to go back to the run disney site and do the "send me the email confirm of my registration" thing.

The confirm I got back had changed my birthday from Dec 24 to Dec 23 :confused3 I just saw someone posted earlier in this thread that the site had been pirated and they were working on correcting some issues like this.

Once I put in the date the database thought was mine, everything popped up correctly.

To answer the clothing question - I think I am going with my "its hot in Florida but this race is a night" standby outfit - black shorts, black sleeveless shirt with my homemade skirt of Minnie polka dots over the shorts and a Minnie polka dot sweaty band.

Thanks for the FB link! I had no use the group was out there, either, but now I've joined...

I believe its the runner relations booth.

Definitely go to runner relations at the expo. I did that at last year's DL half and got my corral changed from F to C

I noticed this morning that packet pick up authorization forms are available now on the race website, in case anyone needs to get one of those. And the corral breakdown was officially posted there too...I know someone posted it on FB earlier in the week and maybe here too and said it was from an email...and it was correct! :)

I got the first piece of my race outfit in the mail last night...a pair of knee socks that I'm not even sure I'm going to wear...but wanted to have them just in case. They are cute, so I hope they work out!

I'm flippin' DONE with this season. Seriously. It was 105 yesterday for my 4 mile run and it was just so awful. The park was noticably EMPTY, which I mentioned to my BF as we were leaving...I said "Look how empty the parking lot is...I guess we're the only morons who decided it was a good idea to run in this." To which he replied "We're not morons, we're dedicated." It's a fine line folks. A FIIIIINE line (that I think I'm stradling!). :rotfl:
